GTCC Annual Report 2019
Executive Summary Introduction The German-Thai Chamber of Commerce (GTCC) in Bangkok is a member of the German Chambers of Commerce Worldwide Network (AHK), with 140 locations in 92 countries. Since its establishment in Bangkok in 1962, the GTCC has maintained itself as a reliable intermediary between German and Thai businesses, thus contributing to the dynamism of the economic development in both countries. In the course of 2019, GTCC put together about 154 events and activities that encouraged further development and interaction of the German-Thai business community within Thailand and abroad. Thanks to the high level of dedication of the GTCC team, recognition of the Chamber in the business community was heightened enabling GTCC to constantly enjoy opportunities to collaborate closely with various partners and counterparts, who added variety to the nature of GTCC services and activities.
Membership, Events and Communications By the end of 2019, GTCC had successfully maintained its milestone of 600+ members chamber. There were 615 members including 545 members in Thailand, 57 members in Germany, 7 members in other countries, and 6 honourary members, with 48 new members among them. GTCC had proved itself to be an effective platform for its members to connect with one another. Among many events organised by the chamber, GTCC Oktoberfest maintained its impressive record with 1,600 participants. GTCC Business Women Networking also gained increasing engagements after the introduction of its facebook community page. Beside the above developments, “GTCC Diversity in the Workplace was introduced. This was another attempt from the chamber to enhance its engagement with its members in the potential untapped segment. GTCC continued utilising social media platforms such as facebook, LinkedIn, and twitter, to keep its members, business partners informed about events, activities and key changes in the business community. GTCC e-UPDATE newsletter was still the main channel for updated economic and member news. Quarterly UPDATE magazines remained a major publication providing essential information about the business and industry sectors in Thailand, despite its last paper edition for Q4/2019. Our Membership Directory is under transformation to be fully digitalised and will be available on GTCC Website, to enable our database more relevant and up-to-date. With a user account and password, members can get access to information on members’ profiles and contact details in order to facilitate business interaction among them.

Besides the consultation on dual vocational education, GTDEE offers a service called Quality Assurance (QA) for Vocational Educational and Training for Thai vocational institutions. The QA aims to standardise college quality in light of development and performances of teachers and students. In addition, the GTDEE provides the service for trainers from various companies called “AdA International - Train the Trainer” (copy rights from DIHK, Germany). The main objective is to allow the trainers to learn the important steps in preparing training for their respective companies and to acquire how to create an in-company training plan, define and implement the training goals.

GTDEE’S PARTNER COMPANIES AND COLLEGES AS OF 2019
GTDEE service portfolio GTDEE has established a set of ser vices for all par ticipating par tner s, to ensure sustainable implementation of Dual Vocational Education and Training (DVET) in several areas. To ensure dual training on a permanently high level, companies, colleges and students interested in the GTDEE programme must go through several assessments to screen their competence status. Therefore, GTDEE has developed a selection procedure for companies, colleges and students. A company or college that provides “dual training” must fulfill cer tain requirements regarding the suitability of the training premises. A quality analysis system (DVQD) developed by GTDEE identifies gaps in several areas, i.e., internal management, infrastructure and methods of teaching.
36
GTCC Annual Report 2019
After the identification of the gaps, GTDEE consults on all issues in DVET by advising on curricula or training plan development or by conducting different types of technical workshops and seminars. In order to enhance a collaborative exchange between the co-operating partners, GTDEE has developed a set of services to exchange relevant information between teachers and trainers, or for use of methods of relevant training issues in technical professions. The objective of the examinations provided by GTDEE is to ensure a comparable nationwide standard in theoretical and practical examinations that will be certified by the German-Thai Chamber of Commerce.
Activity plan for 2020 These activities are related to the progress of the sustainability of dual vocational education. Since education is a continuous development process, GTDEE will continue to work on refining dual vocational education and training standards in Thailand, with the goal of sustainability in order to push Thailand towards becoming the hub in ASEAN as follows: 1. GTDEE intensive courses preparing apprentices for GTCC PAL Interim Examination 2020 (batch 2019) and GTCC PAL Final Examination 2020 (batch 2018); 2. GTCC Final Examination 2019 for 16 apprentices (batch 2018) in four professions from two companies (certified by GTCC); 3. GTCC PAL Final Examination in automotive mechatronics for 29 apprentices from BMW Service Apprentice Programme 2018 and Mercedes-Benz Apprenticeship Programme 2018 based on the “PAL final examination”; 4. “GTDEE Train the Trainer” (AdA - Ausbildung der Ausbilder) International Programme for trainers from partner companies; 5. “GTDEE Teach the Teacher” Workshop for teachers from partner colleges; 6. Mechatronics development project (GIZ) for par tner colleges; textbooks translation, teacher development workshops, student development workshops; 9. Workshops and assessments for the apprentices from partner companies such as mathematics courses, analytical skills development; 10. Soft skill trainings for the apprentices from company par tners such as first aid and lifesaving procedure, systematical concept development, mind mapping workshop, decision making under condition of uncertainty training; 11.
