THE
DYNAMO CHALLENGE
Promoting activity and diet behaviour change: a bespoke programme for schools
T
he Dynamo Challenge uses exotic cycles and other activities to bring your pupils a unique opportunity for out-of-breath fun and fascination: as the basis for a challenge to take up a new form of activity in their daily lives, over a defined (and monitored) period. It’s an all-day visit, involving ‘action stations’, lively classroom work and (in one form or another) parental involvement.
THE
DYNAMO CHALLENGE We bring: A fleet of incredible bikes A two-person Scalextric racing game A fruit-with-fun smoothie-maker A pedal-powered music system Comedic role play about the wonders of the human body and the need for good ‘fuel’ A specially made video and powerpoint quiz Typically we work with a local public sector schools activity worker, who helps with planning and parental involvement, and whom the children strongly identify with. That person visits the school afterwards to encourage and monitor increased activity levels.
An amazing day! I don’t think we have ever had an event that has been enjoyed and appreciated as much by pupils, teachers and parents alike! It was lively, fun and very professionally delivered, both inside during the presentation and outside on the bikes. We have pupils with many diverse needs but somehow that just wasn’t a problem.
Sue Payne, Alderman Knights Special School, Tewkesbury
We have a separate Dynamo Challenge programme for special schools and can bring adapted cycles for any disabled children in mainstream.
We have had a great response from kids, parents and teachers. I overheard two of the teachers saying they hadn’t had such fun as when on your ‘fairground ride machine’. It was most definitely the highlight of the ‘Healthy Living Week.

Your colleagues’ organisational and professional skills, along with their good humour, have left our pupils with lasting memories and, a new appreciation of the benefits of cycling. At short notice, the guys involved pupils from our Special Education Department. They absolutely loved the experience.
