Until January 20, 2019 visitors can admire Amsterdam Light Festival’s artworks in the historical city centre of Amsterdam. This year the festival presents one exhibition which can be experienced by boat, bike or on foot. Inspiration was drawn from Marshall McLuhan’s famous one-liner: ‘The Medium is the Message’. Guest of honour Jeroen Henneman designed the installation Two Lamps for the exhibition and a smaller version - One Lamp - is available as a limited edition via the festival.

cause for celebration in 2019. In addition to the return of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ presented by RAI Amsterdam, Jumping Amsterdam celebrates her 60th edition: The Diamond Edition! But not just the programming will change. With the expansion of an additional event hall of 4.000m² full of exhibitors, great food and drinks and entertainment there is more to see and enjoy at the RAI. And by increasing the capacity of the public stand, more visitors are welcomed to the RAI. This will only contribute to the good atmosphere that Jumping is known for. So, The Diamond Edition is one not to be missed!
National Tulip Day. Dutch Tulip growers will be creating a gigantic pick-your-own tulip garden on Dam Square in Amsterdam with some 200,000 tulips in various colours. The theme of National Tulip Day 2019 is Flowerpower. The theme is reflected in the design of the pick-your-own garden, amongst other things. The pick-your-own tulip garden will be opened to the public at 1 p.m. The garden is expected to be empty by about 4 p.m.
WERELDKERST CIRCUS
The World Christmas Circus is one of the most acclaimed circus festivals in the world, and features countless top stars of the ring. The event in Royal Theatre Carré has been a festive tradition in Amsterdam for 34 years, seeing this beautiful royal theatre once again transformed into a circus theatre – as it was originally designed to be. This year, Carré will present more gold-crowned world acts than ever, including a special tribute to Astley with the most spectacular Cossack song in the world with dazzling leaps and flips on horseback.
