General Information

Registration begins October 6

All activities will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Most of our activities have limited enrollment, so register early! There are 2 easy ways for you to enroll: 1. Register online. Go to www.oconeecounty.com/ ocprd then click “Registration,” or 2. Come by Oconee Veterans Park, Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Payment

Payee will be responsible for paying debit/credit card convenience fees. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express payments. You may also pay by check or money order. Cash not accepted.

Refund Policy

No refunds or credits will be granted unless requested at least 5 business days before the session, program draft or league begins. If request is made 5 business days prior to the start date, you will have two options: (1) Receive an immediate credit for the full amount valid for 12 months or (2) Receive a refund, minus a 25% administration fee. A credit may be issued in the event an activity cannot be completed due to a documented medical problem. Registration Convenience Fees are non-refundable.

Security Policy

Your payment and personal information is safe. Our Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software is the industry standard and among the best software available today for secure commerce transactions. It encrypts all of your personal information, including credit card number, name, and address so that it cannot be read over the Internet.

Inclement Weather/Rain out Policy

New Registration Process! We are pleased to offer our residents a new way to register and pay for programs using CommunityPass, our online registration service. You can now register for programs 24/7 on a secure site. Registration will still be available in house during office hours at Oconee Veterans Park and Herman C. Michael Park.

Step 2 Click on “Create an Account for Your Family Now!” Complete the family account form by filling in your information and clicking on “continue” until you finish your account setup. Your family account is now set up. Clicking “finish” will return you to the CommunityPass homepage Once your account is created, you will receive an email that contains your login information. Youth Basketball Parent Requirement

PAYS Coordinator: Nick Vitale Email: nvitale@oconee.ga.us In order for a child to participate in any competitive youth activity, at least one parent must be a current member of the Parents Association of Youth Sports (PAYS). To fulfill this requirement, follow the steps below:

Youth Basketball Basketball Academy Program Coordinator: Tony Lathrup Email: tlathrup@oconee.ga.us The Basketball Academy will provide advanced basketball training without travel outside the county. This instructional program is recommended for those seeking extra coaching and additional court time in a fun and challenging environment. Youth Basketball Intramural High School Basketball League

Program Coordinator: Jared Hightower Email: jhightower@oconee.ga.us Recruit your friends and PLAY! Form your own team to participate in this fun, recreational league. Players must attend high school in Oconee County to participate. Games conducted at park and/or school facilities on weekday evenings. Games begin in December. Rosters must be submitted no later than Thursday, November 13. Fee: $75 per player Roster Guidelines: • Minimum of 7 players, maximum of 10 players. • Deadline for roster changes December 17. • Players must have an adult coach/sponsor, 21 years or older who will be in attendance at all games and is responsible for team conduct. • Failure of the adult sponsor to attend a game will result in forfeiture of game. • Players and coaches must sign Code of Conduct form in order to be eligible to participate. • Players must attend school in Oconee County. Proof may be required. Mandatory Meeting Coach/team manager meeting will be held Thursday, November 13 at 6:15 p.m. at Oconee Veterans Park in the Community Center.

Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament

This is a benefit tournament for the American Cancer Society - 100% funds benefit ACS. All players must register through Oconee Parks and Recreation Department. The day is filled with activities and games to keep the participants engaged. Hatha Yoga - A mind/body practice of relaxation and rejuvenation using awareness, breath and movement to bring balance to the systems of the body. Yoga helps to increase flexibility and tone muscles while decreasing tension and relieving stress. This is a perfect class for beginners as well as those with some experience in yoga.

Our fitness center located in the Community Center at Oconee Veterans Park features a wide array of state of the art cardiovascular and weight equipment including single and multi-station trainers. We offer FREE Wifi in our Fitness Center. Fitness memberships are required for the exercise facility. Memberships are available for purchase at the Community Center front desk or online. Bogart Sports Complex is a 33 acre park located behind the Bogart Library at 200 South Burson/Thompson Street. There are six lighted baseball and multipurpose fields, a half mile paved walking trail, a picnic pavilion and two playgrounds.

Heritage Park Facility Supervisor: Tony Lathrup Email: tlathrup@oconee.ga.us Physical Address: 2543 Macon Highway, Watkinsville, GA 30677 Heritage Park is 364 acres of natural resources with woods and creeks, bordered by the Appalachee River. The large open air arena at Heritage Park was created with agricultural and special events in mind. The feeder barn has thirty-one stalls and a small show arena. There are separate wash racks for animal shows, rodeos and other large events. The park is conveniently located in Farmington on Highway 441, seven miles south of downtown Watkinsville and ten miles north of downtown Madison. Walking Trails All of our parks have walking trails for everyone to enjoy. Herman C. Michael, Bogart Sports Complex and Oconee Veterans Park have paved walking paths. Trails at Heritage Park are open for seasoned hikers, mountain bike riders and/or horseback riders. Check our website for trail maps.

Three shelters are available which can be rented for your next party or event! Locations for the shelters are: Herman C. Michael Park, Oconee Veterans Park, and Bogart Sports Complex. The 34,000 square foot community center is open with meeting space for community use, indoor walking track and fitness area, and a gymnasium. It houses the administrative offices for the department. In addition, the 197 acre park offers outdoor walking trails, tennis courts, soccer fields, baseball fields, Bark Park and a picnic shelter.
