Neighbor 2 Neighbor Program The Town of Gilbert developed the Neighbor 2 Neighbor Program to provide an easy way for Gilbert residents to help one another. 100% of funds donated are distributed to non-profit agencies that provide assistance to Gilbert’s low-income families, individuals, disabled, seniors and at-risk youth. Gilbert residents can sign up to include a donation amount from $2.00 to $20.00 a month included with their utility bill. One time donations can also be made. **Parent/Tot classes are designed to encourage both parent and child participation through instructor led activities. With you by their side, children will experience skills in sharing, listening and following directions. Classes are recommended for first time participants and those that aren’t quite ready to leave your side. This is a great opportunity to spend quality time with your child and enhance learning at home. For all Parent/Tot classes, only registered participant and parent are allowed in the classroom. One way to help preschoolers learn about the alphabet is to provide them with exciting art activities that are centered around all the letters. ACT UP! CAMPS PRESENTS A CHRISTMAS BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Camp activities include a talent show, painting sets and a dress rehearsal with a performance on Friday! The camp is designed for the beginning actor to experience the thrill of being on stage, being challenged with memorizing lines, remembering when to move and where to go. Participants will learn to be part of a theater team, to learn basic fundamentals of theater and acting, and learn the basics about sets, costumes, makeup, and stage directions. The final stage is a production of their play for family and friends on the final day of the class. If so, you can register them for the Daily Pit Stop where they will be able to re-fuel their bodies before the afternoon session of Kamp. At 12pm, when the morning session of Kamp ends, your child will be taken to another room. There they can eat their lunch, play board games, and socialize in a supervised setting. In this camp, students will learn the basics of playing rock music in a band setting. Students will work on songs in a group setting for 4 days of camp, with the final day culminating in a final performance where the students will display their newly discovered skills. SOCCER CAMP This camp is intended to teach boys and girls the fundamentals of soccer. Ball handling skills such as kicking, passing and shooting will be learned during practice drills and game time. Good sportsmanship and teamwork are encouraged. Participants need to wear tennis shoes and are encouraged to bring their own soccer ball and water bottle. The Gilbert Parks and Recreation Department is offering the 24 th Annual Holiday Wrestling Camp for beginning and experienced wrestlers 5 years old through 8th grade (2013-2014 school year). The format for the camp is three days of instruction followed by match day for the camp finale. Participants will receive ribbons for each match wrestled and be eligible for the Braiden Rainey Sportsmanship Award. Introduction to Tai Ji Quan for people with no experience and wanting to be knowledgeable of this Chinese holistic style. Taking part in this sport provides individuals the chance to develop physical fitness, self-confidence and build strong relationships. Those needing extra supervision must provide his/her own aide.
