Neighbor 2 Neighbor Program The Town of Gilbert developed the Neighbor 2 Neighbor Program to provide an easy way for Gilbert residents to help one another. 100% of funds donated are distributed to non-profit agencies that provide assistance to Gilbert’s low-income families, individuals, disabled, seniors and at-risk youth. Gilbert residents can sign up to include a donation amount from $2.00 to $20.00 a month included with their utility bill. One time donations can also be made. By making a minimum donation, your contribution can help: Provide nutritious meals in food boxes Transport elderly homebound residents to medical appointments Provide safe shelter for a homeless individual or family Provide an emergency rent payment to prevent eviction and homelessness Provide after school activities for Gilbert youth while their parents are at work.

Congress of Neighborhoods Since 1997, Congress of Neighborhoods events have resulted in positive changes in Gilbert. Recommendations affecting growth, code enforcement, traffic, homeowner associations, schools, open space and trails have been forwarded to the Gilbert Town Council and have affected Town policy. GILBERT’S YOUTH FISHING DAY Take a child fishing! This is a great opportunity to spend the morning 8am-Noon fishing with family or to bring a young angler that would enjoy the experience! Come and join the East Valley’s most exciting and energetic program of Adult Sports Leagues. Join over 48 Adult Men’s Basketball Teams. Register your team for one of our many divisions. If you don't have a team, feel free to sign-up on the unattached player’s list on the website. Team managers refer to this list for new players to add to their team or create your own team with the list. Divisions are determined by skill level and playing experience. Teams will play 7 regular season games and end the league with a single elimination tournament that includes t-shirt prizes. Season begins week of September 9th and continues through November. Registration Reminders If you are on a waitlist for a class, and an opening becomes available, you will be contacted by the Parks and Recreation Department. Parks and Recreation Department is committed to being fair and equitable to all participants, therefore we are unable to make exceptions to any class policies. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. The Town of Gilbert has the right to cancel, postpone, combine classes, change rooms and/or instructors at any time. A $25 service charge will be assessed on returned checks. Only one person per registration form. Forms may be photocopied. Enter the class code along with other required information, i.e. name of class. Be sure to sign the assumption of risk waiver in ink. Registration fees must be submitted with registration form. Your registration form is an application; it does not assure placement in a class. If your class choices are full, you will be placed on a waitlist for that class. The Town of Gilbert has the right to cancel any program due to insufficient enrollment. Early registration is encouraged to help prevent course cancellation. If a class or program is cancelled, participants will be notified one week prior to class start date (unless unforeseen circumstances arise) and offered an alternative choice, if available. With you by their side, children will experience skills in sharing, listening and following directions. Classes are recommended for first time participants and those that aren’t quite ready to leave your side. This is a great opportunity to spend quality time with your child and enhance learning continued at home.

Gymnastics HEAD OVER HEELS GYMNASTICS This class is geared towards the young gymnast that would like to learn basic floor gymnastics such as forward & straddle rolls and how to walk on a balance beam. SINGING FOR LITTLE STARS
This class will allow students to learn about the joy of music. They will engage in tonal competency, rhythmic competency, learn the basics of reading music through games and fun activities. The children will also explore new instruments and "make and take" new instruments home each week. This course serves as a great precursor to private lessons. This program is full of fun methods that will allow students to learn proper voice technique including posture, breath support, pitch accuracy, and projection. There will also be focus on the art of performance and presentation. They will be given the opportunities to sing in an ensemble setting as well as a soloist. At the end of the sessions, a student recital will be held allowing the students to perform and utilize their acquired skills. No prior experience required. This class is designed to teach fitness techniques and exercises that incorporate your children, in an effort to lead families into a healthy lifestyle. Participants can expect 25 minutes of cardio, plyos, and strength training. Nutrition tips will be provided at each class and participants will have the opportunity to share challenges and successes for the first five minutes of class. Please bring a yoga or exercise mat.
This class combines two programs into one, the art of Sanchin-Ryu and Project: Secure Child. In a non-competitive environment children will learn the martial art of Sanchin-Ryu, which builds self-confidence and develops focus and discipline. Students are taught alternatives to fighting in a positive, go-at-your-own-pace environment. Project: Secure Child is a program designed to address the growing concerns we have for our children's safety. Our goal is to empower children with proven techniques to handle a variety of everyday situations they may encounter. Topics include: How to deal with strangers, bullies and peer pressure. Taking part in this sport provides individuals the chance to develop physical fitness, self-confidence and build strong relationships. Those needing extra supervision must provide his/her own aide. Register in advance to guarantee your bowling lane. Can’t come every week, pay as you go. This session of bowling provides the opportunity to participate in the Special Olympics Tournament in the November. A Special Olympics physical is required for training and competition. Medical forms for the physical can be picked up at the Community Center or on the Special Olympics Arizona website. Practices will be held at Brunswick Zone XL, 1160 S. Gilbert Rd. Story Time @ Southeast Regional Library TODDLER STORY TIME Date: Every Tuesday and Thursday starting 9/4/2012 through 12/13/12. No Story Time during Fall Break (week of October 15th) Start Time: 10:30 AM Meet in 'The Dig,' for a fun storytime for toddlers up to age 3, including stories, fingerplays and songs. Learn letters, sounds and have fun with music and movement activities! Seating is limited to 75. Free tickets are needed and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets will be available in the Youth Services area 20 minutes before storytime begins. Parents/caregivers are expected to stay with children during storytime.
