La sélection de photographies de la collection Rosenblum est un exceptionnel et représentatif ensemble de tirages d’époque sur le travail que Paul Strand a réalisé en France en 1950 et 1951. Recherchant, pour son projet initial, un village dont il pourrait faire le ”portrait”, il parcourt les campagnes françaises et réalise, à force de photographies, que son projet dépasse ses espérances et revient à faire le portrait du peuple français. La somme de ce travail est publié avec le concours de Claude Roy dans ”La France de Profil” en 1952. Tous les tirages de la collection ont été examinés et authentifiés par Anthony Montoya, expert et conservateur de la Paul Strand Collection chez Aperture, Inc.

CONDITIONS GÉNÉRALES DE VENTE TAJAN est une société de ventes volontaires de meubles aux enchères publiques régie par la loi n° 2000-642 du 10 juillet 2000 modifiée par la loi n° 2011-850 du 20 juillet 2011. TAJAN agit comme mandataire du vendeur. Le Commissaire-priseur n’est pas partie au contrat de vente qui unit exclusivement le vendeur et l’adjudicataire. GÉNÉRALITÉS Les présentes conditions générales de vente, la vente et tout ce qui s’y rapporte sont régies par le droit français ; Les vendeurs, les acheteurs ainsi que les mandataires de ceux-ci acceptent que toute action judiciaire relève de la compétence exclusive des tribunaux du ressort de Paris (France). Les dispositions des présentes conditions générales sont indépendantes les unes des autres. La vente est faite au comptant et les prix s’expriment en euros (€). GARANTIES Le vendeur garantit à TAJAN et à l’acheteur qu’il est le propriétaire non contesté, ou qu’il est dûment mandaté par le propriétaire non contesté, des biens mis en vente, lesquels ne subissent aucune réclamation, contestation ou saisie, ni aucune réserve ou nantissement et qu’il peut transférer la propriété desdits biens valablement. Les indications figurant au catalogue sont établies par TAJAN et l’Expert, qui l’assiste le cas échéant, avec toute la diligence requise par une SVV de meubles aux enchères publiques, sous réserve des notifications, déclarations, rectifications, annoncées au moment de la présentation de l’objet et portées au procès-verbal de la vente. Ces informations, y compris les indications de dimension figurant dans le catalogue sont fournies pour faciliter l’inspection de l’acquéreur potentiel et restent soumises à son appréciation personnelle. L’absence d’indication d’une restauration d’usage, d’accidents, retouches ou de tout autre incident dans le catalogue, sur des rapports de condition ou des étiquettes, ou encore lors d’annonce verbale n’implique nullement qu’un bien soit exempt de défaut. L’état des cadres n’est pas garanti. Aucune réclamation ne sera admise une fois l’adjudication prononcée, une exposition préalable ayant permis aux acquéreurs l’examen des œuvres présentées. Pour les objets dont le montant de l’estimation basse dépasse 1 000 € figurant dans le catalogue de vente, un rapport de condition sur l’état de conservation des lots pourra être communiqué sur demande. Les informations y figurant sont fournies gracieusement et à titre indicatif uniquement. Celles-ci ne sauraient engager en aucune manière la responsabilité de TAJAN. En cas de contestations notamment sur l’authenticité ou l’origine des objets vendus, TAJAN est tenu par une obligation de moyens ; sa responsabilité éventuelle ne peut être engagée qu’à la condition expresse qu’une faute personnelle et prouvée soit démontrée à son encontre. RAPPEL DE DÉFINITIONS Attribué à : signifie que l’œuvre a été exécutée pendant la période de production de l’artiste mentionné et que des présomptions désignent celuici comme l’auteur vraisemblable ou possible sans certitude. Entourage de : le tableau est l’œuvre d’un artiste contemporain du peintre mentionné qui s’est montré très influencé par l’œuvre du Maître. Atelier de : sorti de l’atelier de l’artiste, mais réalisé par des élèves sous sa direction. Dans le goût de : l’œuvre n’est plus d’époque Suiveur de : l’œuvre a été exécutée jusqu’à cinquante années après la mort de l’artiste mentionné qui a influencé l’auteur. ESTIMATIONS ET PRIX DE RÉSERVE Le prix de vente estimé figure à côté de chaque lot dans le catalogue, il ne comprend ni les frais à la charge de l’acheteur, ni la TVA. Le prix de réserve est le prix minimum confidentiel arrêté avec le vendeur audessous duquel le bien ne sera pas vendu.

Le prix de réserve ne peut être supérieur à l’estimation basse figurant dans le catalogue ou annoncée publiquement par le commissaire-priseur habilité et consignée au procès-verbal. Dans le cas où un bien ne comporterait pas de prix de réserve, la responsabilité de TAJAN ne serait pas engagée vis-à-vis du vendeur en cas de vente du bien concerné à un prix inférieur à l’estimation basse publiée dans le catalogue de vente. ENCHÈRES Les enchères peuvent être portées en personne ou par téléphone. Pour une bonne organisation des ventes, les enchérisseurs sont invités à se faire connaître auprès de Tajan avant la vente, afin de permettre l’enregistrement de leurs données personnelles. Pour enchérir en personne dans la salle, vous devrez vous faire enregistrer afin d’obtenir un paddle numéroté avant que la vente aux enchères ne commence. Vous devrez présenter une pièce d’identité et des références bancaires. Le paddle est utilisé pour indiquer vos enchères au Commissaire Priseur pendant la vente. Si vous voulez devenir l’acheteur d’un bien, assurez-vous que votre paddle est bien visible et que c’est bien votre numéro qui est cité. Les enchères suivent l’ordre des numéros au catalogue. Tajan est libre de fixer l’ordre de progression des enchères et les enchérisseurs sont tenus de s’y conformer. Le plus offrant et dernier enchérisseur sera l’adjudicataire. En cas de contestation au moment des adjudications, c’est-à-dire s’il est établi que deux ou plusieurs enchérisseurs ont simultanément porté une enchère équivalente, et réclament en même temps cet objet après le prononcé du mot « adjugé », ledit objet sera immédiatement remis en vente au prix proposé par les enchérisseurs et tous les amateurs présents pourront concourir à cette deuxième mise en adjudication. En portant une enchère, l’enchérisseur assume la responsabilité personnelle de régler le prix d’adjudication, augmenté des frais à la charge de l’acheteur et de tous impôts ou taxes exigibles ; il en assume la pleine responsabilité, à moins d’avoir préalablement fait enregistrer par Tajan un mandat régulier précisant que l’enchère est réalisée au profit d’un tiers identifié. Tous les biens vendus seront facturés au nom et à l’adresse figurant sur le bordereau d’enregistrement du paddle, aucune modification ne pourra être faite. Dans l’hypothèse où un prix de réserve aurait été stipulé par le vendeur, Tajan se réserve le droit de porter des enchères pour le compte du vendeur jusqu’à ce que le prix de réserve soit atteint. Toute personne s’étant fait enregistrer auprès de Tajan dispose d’un droit d’accès et de rectification aux données nominatives fournies à Tajan dans les conditions de la loi informatique et Liberté du 6 janvier 1978 modifiée par la loi du 6 août 2004. Les formulaires d’enregistrement sont obligatoires pour participer à la vente, pour la prise en compte et la gestion de l’adjudication. Vous pouvez connaître et faire rectifier les données vous concernant, ou vous opposer pour motif légitime à leur traitement ultérieur, en adressant une demande écrite accompagnée de la copie d’une pièce d’identité à TAJAN. ORDRES D’ACHAT ET ENCHÈRES PAR TÉLÉPHONE Les ordres d’achat se font par écrit à l’aide du formulaire prévu à cet effet en fin de catalogue. Ce formulaire doit être adressé à TAJAN au plus tard 2 jours ouvrés avant la vente, accompagné d’un RIB bancaire précisant les coordonnées de l’établissement bancaire et d’une copie de pièce d’identité de l’enchérisseur. Pour les achats importants, il pourra être demandé une lettre accréditive de la Banque. Dans le cas de plusieurs ordres d’achat identiques, le premier arrivé aura la préférence. Les enchères par téléphone sont admises pour les clients qui ne peuvent se déplacer. A cet effet, le client retournera à TAJAN le formulaire susvisé dans les mêmes conditions. Les enchères par téléphone ne sont recevables que pour les lots dont l’estimation basse est supérieure à 400 €.

Le nombre de lignes téléphoniques étant limité, il est nécessaire de prendre des dispositions 2 jours ouvrés au moins avant la vente. Dans les deux cas, il s’agit d’un service gracieux rendu au client. TAJAN, ses agents ou ses préposés ne porteront aucune responsabilité en cas d’erreur ou omission dans l’exécution des ordres reçus, comme en cas de non exécution de ceux-ci.

L’acheteur ne devient propriétaire du bien adjugé qu’à compter du règlement intégral et effectif à TAJAN du prix, des commissions et des frais afférents. Conformément à l’article 14 de la loi n° 2000-642 du 10 juillet 2000, à défaut de paiement par l’adjudicataire, après mise en demeure restée infructueuse, le bien est remis en vente à la demande du vendeur sur folle enchère de l’adjudicataire défaillant ; si le vendeur ne formule pas cette demande dans un délai de trois mois à compter de l’adjudication, la vente est résolue de plein droit, sans préjudice de dommages et intérêts dus par l’adjudicataire défaillant.

GENER AL TER MS AND CONDITIONS OF S AL E TAJAN is an auction house specialised in moveable property governed by French Act n° 2000-642 of July 10th 2000 and n° 2011-850 of July 20th 2011. Tajan acts as the seller’s agent. The auctioneer is not a party to the sale agreement, which is solely binding on the seller and the successful bidder.

GENERAL TERMS These general terms and conditions of sale, the sale and all matters relating thereto are governed by French law ; the sellers, buyers and their agents accept that the courts of Paris (France) alone shall have jurisdiction over any legal action. These general terms and conditions are independent. Purchases must be made in cash and prices are stated in euros (€).

WARRANTIES The seller warrants to Tajan and to the buyer that he/she is the undisputed owner of the items offered for sale or that he/she has been authorised by the undisputed owner, that the said items are not encumbered by any claim, dispute, attachment, reservation or pledge and that he/she can legally transfer ownership of these items. The information included in the catalogue is prepared by Tajan with the assistance of the Expert, if necessary, with the care required for public auctions, subject to the notices, declarations and amendments announced. upon presentation of the item and noted in the record of sale. This information, including the dimensions set out in the catalogue, is provided to help the potential buyer inspect items and must be assessed personally by him/her. If no information on restoration, an accident, retouching or any other incident is provided in the catalogue, the condition reports or labels or during a verbal announcement, this does not mean that the item is void of defects. Frames condition is not guaranteed. Inasmuch as buyers are given the opportunity to examine works displayed prior to the sale, no claim may be made after the sale is complete. Buyers may obtain a condition report on items included in the catalogue that are estimated at more than €1000 upon request. The information contained in such reports is provided free of charge and solely to serve as an indication. It shall by no means incur the liability of Tajan. In the event of a dispute concerning inter alia the authenticity or origin of items sold, Tajan is bound by a best endeavours obligation; its liability may only be incurred if evidence is provided that it committed a wrongdoing.

SUMMARY OF DEFINITIONS Attributed to: means that the work mentioned was created during the artist’s period of production and that it is highly likely or possible (though not certain) that he/she is the artist. Influenced by: the work is the painting of a contemporary artist of the artist mentioned who was highly influenced by the master’s work. Artist’s studio: the work was produced in the artist’s studio, but by students under his/her supervision. In the style of: the work is no longer a period work. Follower of: the work was executed up to 50 years after the death of the mentioned artist who greatly influenced the author. ESTIMATES AND RESERVE PRICES The estimated sale price appears beside each lot included in the catalogue. It does not include the buyer’s premium or VAT. The reserve price is the minimum confidential price agreed with the seller. If the reserve price is not met, the item will not be sold. The reserve price may not exceed the lowest estimate set out in the catalogue or announced publicly by the accredited auctioneer and noted in the auction house’s files.

If no reserve price is set, Tajan shall not incur any liability vis-à-vis the seller if the item concerned is sold at a price lower than the lowest estimate published in the sale catalogue.

BIDS To bid in person, you will need to register for and collect a numbered paddle before the auction begins. We encourage new clients to register at least 48 hours in advance. You will be asked for a proof of identity (bring a driving licence, a national identity card or a passport), for your address, telephone number and signature in order to create your account if you are a first time bidder. In addition, you may be asked to provide bank references. All individuals who register with Tajan shall have the right to access and rectify the personal data they provide to Tajan in accordance with the French Data Protection Act of 6 January 1978, as amended by the Act of 6 August 2004. Informations collected on the registration form is required to participate in an auction and process the auction sale. You may exercise your right to access, rectify or oppose subsequent processing of your personal data, by submitting a written request to TAJAN along with a copy of your photo id Auctions will be carried out following the order of the lot numbers as they appear in the catalogue. Tajan is free to set the increment of each bid and all bidders must adhere to this process. The highest and last bidder will be the successful bidder. In the event of a dispute during the bidding process, that is, if two or more bidders simultaneously place the same bid, either orally or by a signal, and each claim the item concerned when the auctioneer has declared the item “sold”, the said item will be re-auctioned immediately at the price offered by the bidders and all those present may take part in this second auction. Any individual who makes a bid during the sale shall be deemed to be doing so in his/her own name ; he/she shall assume full responsibility for his/her bid, unless he/she registered him/herself as an agent with Tajan and stipulated that the bid was being made for a designated third party. In the event the seller sets a reserve price, Tajan reserves the right to propose bids on the seller’s behalf until such time as the reserve is met.

ABSENTEE BID FORMS AND TELEPHONE BIDS Absentee bid forms may be submitted using the special form provided at the end of the catalogue. This form must be sent to Tajan no later than two working days before the sale, together with a bank account identification slip (“RIB”) and a copy of the bidder’s proof of identity. For significant purchases, a buyer may be asked to provide a bank letter of credit. If several absentee bid forms are submitted for the same item, the first order received will take priority. Telephone bids may be placed by clients who cannot attend the auction. To this end, the client must return the above-mentioned form to Tajan under the same conditions. Telephone bidding can only be arranged for lots with sale estimates over €400. As there are only a limited number of telephone lines, the necessary arrangements must be made at least two working days before the auction. In both cases, this is a service graciously provided free of charge to the client. Tajan, its employees, agents and representatives shall not incur any liability in the event of an error or omission in the execution of orders received or the non execution of orders.

CURRENCY CONVERSION Sales are carried out in euros. A currency conversion panel will be displayed at certain auctions. The currency rates shown are provided for information purposes only. Tajan shall under no circumstances be held liable for any errors that occur in the conversion of currencies. Tajan’s payment department is open every working day from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM and from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM. T. +33 1 53 30 30 33, or +33 1 53 30 30 27. Buyers may only take possession of items sold after Tajan has received full payment of the sale price and the related commission and costs. As soon as an item is pronounced “sold”, it shall be placed under the soleresponsibility of the buyer. It shall be the buyer’s responsibility to insure the item purchased immediately.

NON-PAYMENT In accordance with Article 14 of French Act no. 2000-642 of July 10th 2000, if the successful bidder fails to pay for an item after the issuance of a formal demand that remains without effect, the item shall be re-auctioned at the seller’s request. If the price of the new bid is lower than the original false bidder’s price, the false bidder shall pay the difference. If the seller does not make such a request within three months of the auction, the sale shall be cancelled by operation of law, without prejudice to the damages payable by the false bidder. TAJAN adhere to the “Registre central de prévention des impayés des Commissaires priseurs” to which payment incidents may be reported. Debtors may exercise their rights of access, rectification and opposition. Tajan reserves the right to claim the following from the false bidder : - interest at the statutory rate, - the reimbursement of the additional costs incurred by reason of his/her default, - payment of the sale price or : - the difference between this price and the resale price if the latter is lower, as well as the costs incurred in relation with the re-auction. - the difference between this price and the original false bidder’s price if the latter is lower, as well as the costs incurred by the re-auction. FRENCH STATE’S RIGHT OF PRE-EMPTION The French State has a right of pre-emption in respect of certain works of art offered at auction. If the State wishes to exercise this right in respect of a sale, it must express its intention to do so within 15 days of the sale. In this case, the State shall be substituted for the last highest bidder. IMPORT AND EXPORT The import and export of goods may be subject to authorisation (export certificates, customs authorisations). It is the buyer’s responsibility to check which authorisations are required. COLLECTION OF ITEMS PURCHASED The buyer may not take receipt of any lot until such time as he/she has paid all amounts due in full delivery of the goods. In the event of a payment by cheque or bank transfer, delivery of the goods may be deferred until such time as the payment has cleared. In this case, storage costs shall be borne by the buyer and Tajan shall incur no liability whatsoever in this respect. COLLECTION OF UNSOLD ITEMS The seller must collect any unsold items as soon as possible and in any case within 14 days of the auction. If the unsold items are not collected, the cost of storage shall be paid by the seller at the usual rate applicable in such matters. Tajan shall not be bound by any warranty vis-à-vis the seller in respect of such storage.
