GILLINGHAM LADIES NEWS WITH JULIAN HART
GILLS LADIES READY FOR NEW SEASON

During the summer of 2015, Gillingham Ladies had a major change in management and playing personnel. Former assistant manager Jack Wheeler, who was part of the club’s most-successful league campaign in 2013 (in which they finished second in the FA Women’s Premier League South), was brought in to join Darren Hare as joint managers. Following relegation at the end of the 2014/15 season, the Ladies side were looking to bounce straight back. Gills Ladies began the campaign with a convincing 9-0 home win against Bedford LFC, however a 5-0 defeat away at Crystal Palace LFC brought the high hopes back in check. Following the defeat, the Gills Ladies would go on a 13-game
unbeaten run, incredibly recording 10 wins in the process, including an emphatic 13-0 victory at home against Lowestoft Ladies. Yet this consistent set of performances could not see the Gills gain on Crystal Palace Ladies, who retained that top spot. The Gills won their last five games, scoring 20 goals, which saw them secure second spot. Palace remained unbeaten in their 22 games, only dropping four points over the season – two of which came when the Gills drew with them in February’s home match. Season Manager Wheeler has approached this pre-season with an upmost balance; the last two summers have seen major www.gillinghamfootballclub.com
changes in management and players, which has lead a knockon effect on the successive campaigns. There have been limited changes to the squad this summer as the season start nears. The Gills Ladies’ season begins with an away trip to Luton Town LFC on Sunday, August 21, before Milton Keynes Dons LFC are the team to travel to Kent a week later. There’s a new home venue for Gillingham Ladies Football Club this season, and we are proud to announce that the club will play all of this season’s FA Women’s Premier League fixtures at Corinthian Sports Club, Longfield, DA3 8LY. After five seasons at Chatham Town FC, which saw our highest-ever finish in the women’s football pyramid, Gills Ladies would like to thank all those involved there for their continued support to the Ladies club during our time playing there. Tickets Fans can now get their Gillingham Ladies Season Tickets to show their own support to the team.
