Interview: Fliss Gibbons Post Luton Town Draw
GIlls Ladies In Home Ground Move
After the game we spoke to Fliss and she had the following to say on the opening FA WPL game and her return to Gillingham Ladies.
During the summer Gillingham Ladies secured a move from Chatham Town FC to our new ground at Corinthian Sports Club.
“It was a difficult game, I don’t think we played our best. We need to take the positives, we’ve come away with a point in our first game of the season and also an away game. We know what we need to look at for next week, it’ll be something we look to move on for next week.”
Captain Lauren Williams is looking forward to todays game; “The pitch is looking in fantastic condition and I’m sure we will love playing on it week in, week out. We loved playing at home last season and we will be taking that into this season to ensure we make it difficult for teams to come and beat us there!”
“I’m really enjoying it, I know some of the girls from before and everyone’s welcomed me back nicely, I know Jack and he’s been really supportive of me and I hope I can progress under him. Hopefully we can have a successful season. I played at Corinthians ground a few years ago now, I’m looking forward to it and we will look to get our first three points of the season with a win there next Sunday.”
On the move to the new ground, Jack Wheeler added: “For a number of years, Chatham Town FC has been a dif cult place for away teams to come to and get a result from us. We will look to have the same mentality coming into the season at our new home ground. It’s vitally important to have good home form.”
