WHAT IS THE WOLFTRAP STEAKHOUSE CHAMPS YEAR FOUR of this annual competition where the public vote to identify their favourite Steakhouses – whereafter these are judged by the experts to find THE WOLFTRAP STEAKHOUSE CHAMPION of SOUTH AFRICA.

WHAT IS A STEAKHOUSE • A steakhouse is a restaurant that specializes in grilled beef and that has a menu based on steak or a clear and dominant section of the menu dedicated to steak. • If it is a section of the menu, this needs to form the most substantial part of the whole menu. Restaurants that offer pizza, pasta, sushi and steak are unlikely to qualify as steakhouses. • Please note that restaurants not on the steakhouse list will need to be verified according to the above specifications and if they do not conform they will not be added to the list.


HOW IT WORKS 1st PHASE - Public Nominations & Voting Round: 1 April - 30 April 2016 This is the Voting Round where the public can vote for their favorite Steakhouses. They can vote for one Steakhouse daily on Facebook plus one daily via SMS. At the end of Phase 1, the TWENTY Steakhouses with the most votes will go through to the Judging Round. These 20 Finalists will be announced on Facebook on 1 May 2016 at 9:00am.

2nd PHASE - Unannounced Judging Round: 1 May - 31 May 2016 Led by Pete Goffe-Wood, this is the round where the judges make unannounced visits to the Highest 20 as voted by the public. These are assessed by the judges according to a standard and controlled scoresheet. This is also the round where the SteakHunter’s Facebook page will feature each of the 20 Steakhouses on a daily basis. This page has over 8500 followers and is a great platform to promote each Steakhouse. On 1 June 2016 at 9:00am, the FIVE that achieved the highest scores will be announced on Facebook and will go into the Finalist Round.

3rd PHASE - Finalist Round: 6 - 10 June 2016 During the week of Monday 6 - Friday 10 June the Final Five Steakhouses are re-visited, this time openly, for a final check. The Steakhouses will be able to perform to its best with full knowledge of date, time and what’s at “STEAK”. Local Media, Vinimark Sales reps, On-Con managers and bloggers will also be invited to this event in order to get as much “hype” around this visit.

4th and Final PHASE - Award Ceremony: Tuesday 21 June 2016 The Award Ceremony will take place on Tuesday 21 June at the current Steakhouse Champion, Little Havana in Umhlanga Rocks, where The Wolftrap Steakhouse Champion for 2016 will be announced.

HOW TO NOMINATE AND VOTE On Facebook at www.facebook.com/SteakHunter or via SMS to 32845. SMS charged at R1.00 per competition entry. • You have one Facebook vote and one SMS vote per person per day • A list of Steakhouses is available at the Facebook voting page, simply click on the one you want to vote for • Should the one you want to vote for not be on the list, please inform us and we will add it. or by SMS – customers can vote daily Spread the word of the Championships on Facebook and Twitter by using the hashtag #SteakChamps - if the use this, SteakHunter will be able to pick this up and will retweet and share their post. This increase their reach significantly.
