PRESS RELEASE

Greek video art travels to Madrid! After travelling to Moscow and Tenerife, Video Art Miden now travels to Madrid, Spain, to present a selection of contemporary Greek video art in the frame of Madatac, one of the most renowned international digital arts festivals in Spain. Madatac takes place at the Cultural Center Conde Duque (January 12 - February 5 2017), with a rich program of video art screenings, digital art exhibitions, audiovisual events, a symposium on cultural management and a series of tributes to international festivals, groups and organizations from around the world -amongst them Video Art Miden. Miden’s tribute to contemporary Greek video art will take place on Friday, January 20, at Cultural Center Conde Duque. Miden collaborates with Madatac for the 3rd time: previously, in 2011 Miden presented an international video selection entitled “This is war” in Madatac, at Reina Sofia Museum, while in 2012 Madatac presented a selection of Spanish video art in Miden's public events at Kalamata Historic Center . This year Miden presents at Madatac the Greek video art program "Paradise Lost. STOP.", initially presented last July in Miden’s screening events in Kalamata.

Miden* is an independent organization for the exploration and promotion of video art. Founded by an independent group of Greek artists in 2005, it has been one of the earliest specialized video-art festivals in Greece and builded an international festival identity, presenting an annual video art festival for a decade. Since 2015, Miden continues its work changing its form to a more flexible and broadened event programming, setting as basic aims to stimulate the creation of original video art, to help spread it and develop relevant research. Through collaborations and exchanges with major international festivals and organizations, it has been recognized as one of the most successful and interesting video art platforms internationally and as an important cultural exchange point for Greek and international video art. It also provides an alternative meeting point for emerging and established artists and a communication hub between artists, organizations, festivals and art spaces around the world. Miden screening programs have traveled in many cities of Greece and all over the world, and they are hosted by significant festivals, museums and institutions globally.
