As we celebrate the success of GIPA’s domestic introduction this year GIPA will commit to creating an ecosystem for Indonesian professionals through the establishment of our Indonesia Hub GIPA's Indonesia Hub’s first initiative is the creation of the Global Connect Series, a platform of networking events for inbound Indonesian professionals to connect and share knowledge on Indonesia’s professional environment

The Global Connect Series: Developing Indonesia for a more Sustainable and Health Future (8th March 2024) hosted by GIPA and supported by Kemenpora and Bakrie Center Foundation, delved into the look of Indonesia’s strategic positioning for the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024 as well as Indonesia’s ESG and future initiatives.

This event is the second installment of the Global Connect Series in Jakarta, which aims to empower returning overseas professionals by offering them the resources that would help them acclimate to the Indonesian workforce

Indonesia’s Path to Paris Olympics 2024 and Beyond: GIPA’s Global Connect Series Explores Dynamic Paths in Sports and ESG Initiatives

8 March 2024, Jakarta Indonesia’s Chef de Mission (CdM) for Paris Olympics 2024, Anindya Bakrie, highlighted the importance of Indonesia’s CdM on GIPA’s event, the Global Connect Series (GCS): Developing Indonesia for a more sustainable and healthy future. This event delved into the look of Indonesia’s strategic positioning for the Paris Olympics 2024 as well as Indonesia’s ESG and future initiatives.

“It’s the first Olympics after COVID-19, therefore the world will come together to celebrate,” Anindya Bakrie said.

This year ’ s olympics is unique as it is held during the biggest ‘election year ’ of the world. As Indonesia just recently finished outs, it’s a good time for everyone to unify again for our athletes.

The discussion event was hosted by the Global Indonesian Professionals’ Association (GIPA) and is the first installment of GIPA’s Global Connect Series in 2024. The event featured other household names in Indonesia’s ESG industry such as Hamdan Hamedan, Special Advisor to the Minister of Youth and Sports, and Ferro Ferizka Aryananda, Executive Director at Pijar Foundation.

Mr Bakrie’s aim for the CdM is to “memasyaratkan olahraga, mengolahragakan masyarakat” by making the athletes hero for the country in the Paris Olympics and making the government invest more money in Indonesian sports.

The CEO of Bakrie & Borthers continued saying that the Paris Olympics will feature four new sports, namely surfing, skateboarding, breakdancing, and speed climbing, all which the Indonesian team have potential to compete

Hamdan Hamedan, Special Advisor for the Minister of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), said that the government are pursuing more physical activities for their people.

“Other countries invests around 10% for sports from their respective GDPs, Indonesia only invest 0 8%,” Mr Hamedan said “Sports should be the main fulcrum of Indonesian government and people ”

Research prove that Indonesian people are less active and therefore, the government is advocating a healthier environment through the Minister of Youth and Sports, Kemenpora

The event also discussed about sustainability and ESG opportunities in Indonesia Mr Bakrie is very optimistic in Indonesia’s ESG as he believes there are many clean energy opportunities due to Indonesia’s biodiversity.

Ferro Ferizka, Executive Director of Pijar Foundation, agreed that Indonesia’s resources are very rich and we must utilise it

Mr Ferizka also noted on how 2034 is a very important year for the goal of Indonesia Emas 2045 as our demographic bonus will expire

“Therefore, our window of opportunities are only ten years, ” Ferro Ferizka said. “If we fail to capture these opportunities, we will fail forever.”

GIPA represent white-collar Indonesians working across the G20 and ASEAN countries with eight hubs across Europe. Hilmi Kartasamita, GIPA’s Head of Indonesia, said to look forward to GIPA’s various initiatives that will contribute to building a healthier Indonesia Emas 2045.

Hamdan Hamedan is Special Advisor to the Minister of Youth and Sports Previously he has served in multiple Indonesia diaspory community, holding positions as Executive Director for Indonesia Diaspora Network-United.

Difa is responsible for advocating key Indonesian professionals and executives abroad by collecting aspirations and producing white papers in GIPA She worked as a Strategic Planning and Advocacy Senior Officer for the PMO of Kartu Prakerja at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia

Following the successful Global Human Capital Summit (GHC Summit) in Aug 2022 as a side event to B20 Summit and supported by Indonesia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), GIPA sees the need to launch a platform for returning Indonesian professionals and executives who worked abroad for some time GIPA's Indonesia Hub was then launched in February 2023 to take this initiative forward with the aim of 3C: Connect, Collaborate, and Consolidate

One of Indonesia Hub’s initiative is the creation of the Global Connect Series, a platform of networking events for inbound Indonesian professionals to connect and share knowledge on Indonesia’s professional environment.

GIPA's Indonesia Hub aims to:
