How about making an apron for each family member? Its not difficult - If you can sew at all, you can make an apron – and if you choose a theme – Christmas for example, you can make a really nice gift that will be appreciated for a long time to come.
1. Cut your fabric to the required size – in this case 50cm x 55cm (I used a fat quarter). 2. Cut a length of bias tape that will go round your waist twice. 3. Using the sewing machine, hem the top and both sides. 4. Attach one edge of bias tap to the top of fabric on wrong side. 5. Fold the tape over, and sew from
4.
one end of the tape to the other – sewing both ends of tape, and along edge of apron.
TA DA! Your apron is finished.

Public Opinion Sought On Pokies In the Wellington Shire Council want to know what the residents of Wellington think about gaming machines in their Shire.
with local groups, community and service providers to reduce the negative impacts of gaming.
Public feedback is invited through participation in a Community Attitude Survey which will help Council determine whether or not the public would like to see an increase in the number of gaming machines currently available within the municipality.
“Currently, there are nine electronic gaming machines per 1000 residents in Wellington Shire. This is higher than the state average of 6 per 1000.
Wellington Shire Council General Manager Community and Culture, Glenys Butler explains that Council is committed to working in partnership
“Council has a Responsible Gaming Policy and in the long term, would like to see the number reduce in line with the significantly lower state average, rather than higher. “Two recent applications
lodged with the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR) seek to add an additional 16 machines in Wellington. “We want to know our residents’ attitudes towards this proposal, so we can most accurately advocate on their behalf when providing Council’s response in relation to these applications.” The survey can be completed online via Council’s website www. w e l l i n g t o n . v i c . g o v. au Projects Seeking Feedback and in hard copy at the Sale and Yarram Customer Service Centres. Community groups to benefit from grants An array of community groups are set to receive an extra boost following Council’s approval of community assistance grants this evening.
“It was great to see such a wide range of groups with great, innovative visions for the future applying like the Wellington Community Garden which will install raised planter beds with all access walkways.
More than $173,000 will be allocated following successful applications for 18 events, nine projects and 15 facilities.
“We are always looking for new, grassroots community ideas that need funding to help get projects off the ground.”
“These grants are a wonderful way of Council helping community groups along with projects they’re undertaking,” Wellington Shire Council Mayor Carolyn Crossley said.
Community groups struggling to find funding to upgrade or maintain facilities were also big winners in this round of grants, with more than $62,000 allocated.
“It looks like we’re in for some fantastic events like Golden Beach’s End of Summer Surf Festival, Port Albert’s 175th Commemoration Family Fun Day and Stratford’s Shakespeare on the River Festival which will be great for both residents and local businesses.
Twice a year, not for profit community groups operating in the Wellington Shire may apply for grant funding of between $2,000 and $5,000 to support the organisation and promotion of a range of events and projects, and facility upgrades.
Community Assistance Grant applications are invited for Project and Event categories from 15 January 2016 to 1 March 2016 and for Facilities, Project and Event categories from 15 June 2016 to 1 August 2016.
Successful Applications As part of our August 2015 Community Assistance Grants scheme we have awarded funding to 42 local community events, projects and facilities.
By providing financial assistance we support outcomes that promote participation, working together and maintenance of our community assets.
Our grants scheme encourages the provision of project and events for the wider community.

Warning - Snakes are on the Move Across the Baw Baw Shire Baw Baw Shire Council encourages residents and visitors to be vigilant for snakes as warmer weather conditions are expected across the Shire.
Council has been advised of increased snake activity in recent weeks, as the warmer weather encourages them to come out of hibernation. Residents are reminded that snakes are protected under the Wildlife Act 1975. In preparation for a snake sighting, ensure the following:
• Never touch or attempt to capture a snake, call the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning on 136 186 for more information or a licensed snake catcher. • Ensure your first aid kit contains several large compression bandages. • Call 000 immediately if someone is bitten. Mayor Debbie Brown said it was important that all individuals remain calm and collected if they see a snake.
• If you see a snake, keep calm and try to move yourself and pets away from the snake.
“Individuals need to act cautiously in the warmer weather to avoid snakes and the risk of being bitten.

Latrobe City Shire
World-ranked water ski event to make a splash at Lake Narracan Lake Narracan will host a world-ranked slalom water ski event from 19 to 20 March next year which will see international competitors and judges converge on Latrobe City for a weekend of water skiing thrills and spills in the wake of Moomba. Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Dale Harriman, said that in terms of ranking, the event would run second only to Moomba Masters. “This is a prestigious new event for our region. We have this excellent facility at Lake Narracan and a strong local presence in the sport. It is thrilling that we are able to host such a highranking event and to be able to attract international competitors of such calibre to our waters. We know our local sportsloving community will enjoy the event.
“Slalom water skiing is an exciting sport to watch but if you can’t make it to the lake you will be able to catch all the action on a live webcast which means that it could attract a worldwide audience. “Latrobe City has built a strong reputation for hosting a diverse range of elite regional, national and international sporting events and to be able to add water skiing to our ever-expanding lists of sports is a credit to our facilities, our organisational expertise and our community who loves to be inspired by quality athletes,” Cr Harriman said. Event organiser, Darren Robertson, said that the event was sanctioned by the International Water Ski and Wakeboard Federation and the Australian Water Ski and Wakeboard Federation. “This event will attract the top 25 ranked men and top 15 ranked women, and each competitor will qualify for
points towards their world ranking score. World record holders and current world number ones, Nate Smith and Regina Jaquess, will take part. Chief judge will be Jeff Smith from the USA, who will also judge at the 2016 Moomba Masters and with a total prize purse of $35,000, competition will be fierce. “Another coup is that the official tow boat will be the world record holding Nautique Ski 200, the best slalom boat in the world, and will be driven by Kevin Wiseman, Jody Seal and Glenn Martin. “The event is being organised by the Victorian Water Ski Association in conjunction with the Latrobe Valley Water Ski Club and we hope that it will return to Latrobe City for a five-year period,” Mr Robertson concluded. Walk in solitude through a different rainforest so rare, most people have never heard of it, and far fewer will ever see it.
The massive trees and prolific jungle-like undergrowth that cloaked these ranges when white settlers first arrived became known as The Great Forest of South Gippsland, or simply The Great Forest, a title which is an integral part of Gippsland’s history and heritage.

WHITE WOMAN’S WATERHOLE Perhaps the biggest story to come out of Gippsland in the 1840s was the search for a lost white women said to have been held captive by some Gunaikurnai people.
EXPLORE THE
Local legend has it that in the 1840s, a young woman, the sole survivor of a shipwreck off the nearby Ninety Mile Beach was taken and held captive by the local tribe of Bratwoloong, who inhabited this part of Gippsland. Angus McMillan, an explorer who later squatted on land in Gippsland for his own pastoral requirements, started this story in the 1840s, with a letter to the Sydney Press. McMillan claimed he had come across a deserted Gunaikurnai camp strewn with an array of items, including female clothing and a dead baby, said by a Dr. Alexander Arbuckle to be a white child. SALE WETLANDS The wetlands may be reached either via Lake Guthridge, which is right beside the Princes Highway/ South Gippsland Highway intersection in Sale, or by turning off the South Gippsland Highway about 1km out of town. The turnoff is well signposted. Further information may be obtained at the Sale Visitor Information centre.

"Koories learned from the land, and managed to sustain themselves for 60,000 years. We need to aim for a similar understanding, and to value the vast resources of our unique Australian flora, already so well adapted to the land. We have yet to develop a sustainable agriculture in Australia, and our challenge is to match the span of Koorie survival. KNOB RESERVE STRATFORD Axes and fish hooks. Meetings past and present. On the bluff high above a bend in the Dooyeedang (Avon River) axe heads were sharpened on the sandstone grinding stones. The deep grooves, which may still be easily observed, are a reminder of the ancestors who have visited this place for centuries.

DEN OF NARGUN The Nargun is a large female creature who lives in a cave behind a waterfall in the Mitchell River. The Den of Nargun is a place of great cultural significance to the Gunaikurnai people, especially the women. Traditionally Gunaikurnai men were not allowed down to the Den of Nargun or the Woolshed Creek valley. Gunaikurnai men respected this traditional law and still do today. Please treat this place with respect. KROWATHUNKOOLOONG Since the time when Borun and Tuk founded our people, the Gunaikurnai hunted the animals and gathered the fruits of a vast natural wilderness. This land fed, clothed and sheltered us. At times this land was generous, at other times cruel. To our Ancestors, life was a constant test of the weapon maker's skills, the hunter's endurance and the tireless explorations of the gatherers.

Our Gunaikurnai territory was sheltered by tall mountains to the north and west and watered by its many rivers that flowed fully through the coastal plains to the estuaries and into the ocean. This land fostered our clans, the creation of our language, our rich mythology, laws, social customs and skills in craft and artifacts. Our Land was our Mother. HOWITT PARK On a small rise overlooking Wahyand (Mitchell River) the men made a canoe. The 4m long scar made when the bark was peeled away can still be seen on the tree in Howitt Park. It is believed that this tree is approximately 170 years old LEGEND ROCK One day, some fisherman who had hauled in many fish with their nets, ate their catch around their campfire. The women, guardians of the social law, saw that the men had eaten more than enough but had not fed their dogs. As a punishment for their greed the fishermen were turned to stone. BUCHAN CAVES A nearby cave contains artifacts and evidence of Aboriginal occupation of 18,000 years ago, making it one of the oldest Ice Age (23-10,000) cave sites in south east Australia. Repeated or long-term camping activities were undertaken throughout the Buchan region. BURNT BRIDGES RESERVE The local plants and animals gave the Aboriginal people of this area, the Gunaikurnai, most of what they needed. Many different plants were used for food and medicines and to produce woven baskets and nets and in the manufacture of tools and weapons CAPE CONRAN The viewing platform at Salmon Rock is built above an Aboriginal shell midden; the top layer is visible. A shell midden denotes a special site or meeting place where people have gathered regularly for many generations to feast, celebrate and perform ceremonies. Middens in East Gippsland have been dated at over 10,000 years old. Even today, Cape Conran remains a special place for the Gunaikurnai people of the area to visit throughout the year.

At the awards ceremony held in Melbourne, John Ansell’s four images won the Portrait category and the top prize of $10,000 as he was announced 2015 Canon AIPP Australian Professional Photographer of the Year. 2013 also saw him receive a Silver award in the Portrait Category with a rather unusual self portrait. Further success came in 2014 with a Gold Award and Silver Award and 2015 with a Gold, Silver with Distinction and two Silver awards again in the Portrait Category prior to the announcing his overall win as Canon AIPP Australian Photographer of the Year.

How To Grow An Almond Tree
Almond trees are deep rooted and should be planted in deep, fertile and well-draining sandy loam. Almond trees should be irrigated despite the fact that the trees are drought tolerant this will ensure a good crop of nuts. An application of nitrogen and organic fertilizer will aid in growth. These trees have high nitrogen (N) and phosphorus
Almond trees love mulch right around and out to the drip line, but they must have good drainage, as they will drown if waterlogged. Almonds are harvested when the outer, fleshy hull starts to split open. Collect the nuts from the outer canopy of the tree first, by spreading a tarp on the ground below and knocking the tree. A couple of weeks later the nuts on the inner canopy will have ripened and can be harvested in the same way. Freeze your almond nuts for 1-2 weeks to kill any residual worms and then store in plastic bags. When caring for almond trees, spray the trees during or after the leaves drop in the fall before the winter rains. This will reduce the damage from shot hole fungus in the spring.

When growing almond trees, it is good to know that the almond tree is non-self-fertile and you need to plant at least two trees to bare fruit. If you are short on space within your garden you can plant two trees in the same hole and the trees will grow together and intertwine allowing the flowers to crosspolinate.

Dangers to our feathered friends facebook.com/TraralgonAntiques
their cage is NEVER positioned kin
There are without doubt such a way that they are subjected many and varied dangers. to constant direct sunlight with no I would not presume to access to shade. suggest that I have covered Phone: 0412 718 614 Remember to check on them them all in this article. facebook.com/TraralgonAntiques Unfortunately, there are so many things we do, and materials we use in our everyday life that are not obvious to us, but they pose a real threat to the well-being of our birds. Some of the more common ones that spring to mind are:Heat Smoke fumes/gases Pets/Small Children Escapes Solvents/Cleaning Agents Escapes Hang Points Poisoning (Zinc & Heavy Metal) Droughts Chemical Spray Residue Perhaps these could be viewed as the ten “Thou Shalt Not” commandments for birds.
HEAT Namely birds that do not have adequate access to shade. Our Australian summers can be very sever at times, aviaries should be erected in such a position to ensure that birds have access to shade during the heat of the day. Nest boxes need to be positioned to ensure that sun is not penetrating into the box at any time. Care should be taken with pet birds put outside for fresh air that
regularly as the position of the sun changes very quickly. All birds must have and adequate supply of fresh cool water available at all times.
SMOKE/GASES Gases and smoke fumes given off from such things as electric or arc welders are very dangerous, it can drift unseen into the most unlikely places, and if it happens to accumulate in the rear of your aviary it can spell death to our birds. Take care when doing those small welding jobs. Cooking fumes in the house can also be toxic as can cigarette smoke. Keep birds well away from these potential hazards.
PETS/SMALL CHILDREN I am not suggesting for a minute that you cannot have a bird or birds if you have other pets or small children, what I am saying is that pet birds kept around either of these need to have constant supervision particularly when they are out of their cage. Aviary birds can panic when a cat is let loose after dark and injury, death or deserted nests can be the result. All such animals need to be securely confined at this time.
FOODS This is a problem that frequently arises in particular with pet birds. Owners become so attached to their feathered friends that they tend to regard them as little people and consequently cannot resist giving them threats. This it’s self is not bad, but they should be provided with only “bird friendly” treats such as milk thistle, millet spray, dry vita-brits or wholemeal toast. Never feed them chocolate, alcohol, sweet biscuits, avocado or caffeine. These products can harm your bird’s health or kill.
SOLVENTS/CLEANING AGENTS Fumes and residue from these can be deadly to your birds. Just recently Pandas at a zoo in New Zealand died from fumes inhaled from a cleaning agent being used in their enclosure. Be aware that you can transfer the residue from cleaning agents from your hands to water and food containers, so take care to wash your hands very carefully after using any of these before attending to your birds. Nicotine residue can also be transferred in the same manner.
ESCAPES All aviaries should have some form of an escape proof catch area incorporated into their design.
Birds see a gap and go for it very swiftly, one minute they are nice and safe and sound in their aviary, the next out in the big wide world with no idea how to fend for themselves. Most escapees unless they are lucky enough to be recaptured within a few days will perish. Care needs to be taken that pet birds put outside in cages for fresh air are very well secured. In my opinion it is absolutely foolhardy to take any bird outside unless it is secured in a bird harness. Yes, I have plenty of people argue with me on this point stating
that MY BIRD never leaves my side. Well it only takes one fright incident for this to change very quickly and the bird is gone. Take a look at posts regularly appearing on Facebook to see how many birds do just that. It boils down to the same belief of teenagers in cars but will never happen to me, too late when it does. There is no going back.
HANG POINTS These are places or things within your aviaries or pet bird cage that your birds can get hung up on. Look for things that your bid can get his ID ring caught on. If your
bird is fitted with a split ring it is a good idea to periodically check that it has not worked open a little as this tiny gap can cause a bird to get hung up on cage or aviary wire. Watch for sharp points or protruding objects ANYTHING that can cause injury to your birds. I advocate pet birds should be provided with human baby safe toys rather that products bought from pet outlets many which incorporate such things as chains and tassels which can be very dangerous and some if ingested can prove to be fatal. - J. Pym Bird Breeder

After heavy rain the river falls as a spectacular cascade into the gorge. Upstream from the falls, the Agnes River forms part of the Toora Water Supply Catchment.
Tall Southern Blue Gums together with Blackwood and Silver Wattles grow within the sheltered gorge and along the banks of the Agnes River.
A short 200 metre walking track leads from the carpark to a viewing area overlooking the falls. Along the way watch for birds darting between bushes and the diverse range of vegetation present. Rest on the seats provided and enjoy the view within the gorge. A small picnic ground set amongst the tall shady Blue Gums on the grassy banks of the Agnes River makes a delightful setting for a picnic. Agnes Falls Scenic Reserve protects a small

The understorey composed of tall shrubs and small trees is home to the Eastern Yellow Robin, often seen perching sideways on low branches, eyes intently searching the ground for food. Watch for the playful antics of the Grey Fantail as it darts and spirals in and out of trees in its quest for food. They are often seen perching with wings drooped and tail fanning from side to side, a movement to prompt insects to flight. The forest also echoes to the calls of the Laughing Kookaburra, Currawong and Crimson Rosella.
At night possums and owls emerge from tree hollows to feed amongst the spreading branches of the eucalypts. If you are lucky you may catch a glimpse of a Swamp Wallaby disappearing into the bush.

Addiction and the Family Dynamics “SAY NO MORE”
The family dynamic is a general, cover-all, neutral term of the ways family members interact with each other, all the various family alignments, hierarchies, roles, ascribed characteristics and the patterns of interactions within the family.
These interactions can work well, suit everybody and such a lucky family works well as a whole. Or they don’t, everybody gets frustrated, the family is riddled with conflict, unresolved issues fester, and the family works badly. Most families most of the time find themselves working well enough to function. The dynamic around a loved one with addiction is sadly consistent from family to family, across cultural and social economic groups. I have not seen a family of a loved one suffering from addiction that did not fall into the dynamic below. Understanding how these key interactions work or don’t work, and seeing how it does not benefit you, or help the addict get well, is a vital step on the way to change. Think of your addict as being stuck in a deep ditch. The addict is stuck in it and they can’t get out. They are suffering a whole range of consequences of their actions, financial issues, emotional issues, mental health issues, employment issues, relationship issues and the list goes on. Despite their best efforts, they simply can’t find the way out. From time to time, it may seem like they get out of the ditch, or they are making progress towards getting out, but this is only ever temporary, they always end up back in that miserable ditch. The family crowd around the top of the ditch because they lover their addict and they want to see their loved one get out and prosper. Each family member’s approach to the addict will tend to fall into one of two categories’ or behavioural roles.
November 2015
THE PERSECUTOR My father was a classic persecutor. Because he loved me, he would come to the edge of the ditch I was in and try to motivate me to get out. He would look down into the ditch and tell me that I was a disgrace. How could I do this? After all the opportunities I’d had in my life I should have my act together. He would tell me to ‘just stop and get over it’ I don’t doubt his love or that what he was telling me was told in the hope of motivating me to get out of that ditch and get well. He had the best of intentions. The fact that he was taking time out of his busy day to try and help me showed me that. And whether he took that approach through learned behaviour or because he really thought it was the best approach who knows. I know it didn’t work. I would tell my father to get stuffed, and tell everyone else that he was an idiot and didn’t understand. How could he talk to me like that? I reflected his behaviour by being critical and hostile too. The result was that I stayed in that miserable ditch. THE ENABLER My mother was a classic enabler. She would look down into the ditch and say, ‘poor boy! I think you were always sensitive and had some sort of mental problem. How are we going to help you? How are we going to get you out of this ditch? This is not your fault.’ She would throw anything down the ditch that she thought could help, money, houses; all she could think of went down into it. She would find houses for me to live in, and decorate them. She would marry me off. She would generally try to make my life easier, in the hope that, if I found life more comfortable, I would no longer need or choose to use drugs. I would reflect that behaviour too. I would play the victim, and say, ‘Yes, my life’s very hard, I’ve had some real big problems over the years and it’s not really my fault.’ Then wait for the money, cars, houses, wives or whatever else she was throwing, to land in my ditch. My ditch became quite comfortable. I never
had to face the material consequences of my addition. I was always housed and had cars. Externally, I appeared to be doing OK. But, while the ditch was comfortable, the thought of climbing out of it, or that I had a drug problem, never crossed my mind. Often, circumstances make The Persecutor into an Enabler, or vice versa. An incident of some kind can cause the switch to be thrown, but frustration and disappointment alone can do it. What my family did not realise, despite the fact they loved me and they were doing the best they could to try and help me, was that persecution and enabling contributed nothing that helped me get well. It was just background noise. I did reflect on their behaviour but I stayed in the ditch. Enabling and persecuting fuel the addicts’ delusion and disease and keep them in the ditch. In the addicts mind, being persecuted allows them to continue to feel resentful and sorry for themselves and to blame others for their situation: ‘He’s such an idiot, no wonder I use.’ It adds to all the other excuses they use to justify their drug use. Being enabled shields them from facing the true consequences of their using by keeping them too comfortable to feel the need to change: ‘I’m not really that bad, I’ve still got a place to live.’ Some families live in fear of the addicts’ reaction when they finally decide to take away the cushions. They say, ‘he’s not going to like that. We’re scared of what he’s going to do. He can get abusive. He may get violent. He may threaten to kill himself, or disappear and never come back.’ This is nothing more than the addict’s ultra-selfish manipulation at work, created by the disease of addiction. All addicts try to set up an unspoken understanding that the family had better give us what we want because the family does not want to face the consequences of us unhappy. Some addicts will say ‘I can make your
life miserable’ overtly. Others expend much time setting up a dynamic where this may not be said out load, but everyone around us understands the potential. We ineffectively hold our own families to ransom. Having taken you hostage, the addict, will want to negotiate. ‘I’ll give you this if you give me that, ‘I can’t go to treatment, I can’t stop using all together, I just need one more cheque to cover the rent, this will be the last time, I promise, ‘don’t push me…’ It is the fear of not giving the addict what they want, that impels family members into constant negotiation. Boundaries will be crossed, and broken. Families will find themselves doing things they never imagined they would consider doing, like driving their loved one to go and pick up drugs or allowing the addict to shoot up drugs at home, it’s ‘safer’ than shooting up on the streets. The addict will manipulate the dynamic to make you feel responsible for their wellbeing and safety. If you don’t give them money, they say they are going to go and rob someone. ‘I’m going to go into withdrawal and go crazy so I will rob someone and end up in jail because of you.’ Or the less extreme, ‘I know it’s three in the morning but you better get out of bed and come and pick me up from the pub, or ‘I’m going to drive home…’ The family dynamic and these sorts of situations can stay in place for decades. Without drastic change by all parties, family and addict this dynamic will turn once happy, healthy, prosperous families in to miserable worried sick, fractured wrecks. So families can’t control their addict by shaming them in to action or trying to make things easier for them, how do we help them out of that ditch? A drug addict will only ever look at their problem or the mere possibility they could have a drug problem, if the consequences start to outweigh the benefits. Nothing goes down that ditch but offers of treatment because that actually is the solution. We create boundaries. Within those boundaries,
we create a space: the Treatment Space. And we make an agreement that that’s the only space we interact in. Unless our addict is in treatment there is to be no interaction. None. When treatment is offered, one ladder is lowered down in to the ditch. Background noise is shut down. No other interaction is allowed. The ditches comfort level declines. The only way out for the addict is to climb the ladder. We have conditioned our addict to expect to be either persecuted or enabled, so when the family throws the ladder down and walks away, to expect our addict to turn around and say ‘Thank you so much, this is a beautiful ladder, I’m going to climb up it right now’ is unrealistic. What normally happens is that the addict says, ‘What the hell are you guys doing? I don’t have a drug problem. Are you crazy? Where the hell is my money? Where the hell is my house? Why have you stopped talking? Don’t you know how hard my life is? You can’t kick me out. What kind of family are you? The addict may make wild threats in an effort to bring you back to the edge of the ditch, to continue in your enabling and persecuting roles. The addict is comfortable with that, and, because of the emotions involved the family will be tempted to continue to argue and or negotiate with the addict. But this is where the family must be detached, and hold the line. Unless our addict moves out into the treatment space we have provided, we cannot interact with them. Once totally alone in the ditch and facing reality our addict will soon start considering what they need to do with the limited options available to them.
Oh my God, they’re not coming back to the edge, ‘there’s no-one there, just a stupid ladder. What am I going to do? This ditch is becoming uncomfortable without the cushions. There’s nothing here, just me and my miserable existence. All right, to hell with you, to hell with the world, stuff everybody, I’m going to climb up that ladder. I’ve got nothing else if I don’t, I’m going to die. This can sometimes take a few hours, or days, even a few weeks. I’ve never seen an addict last longer than months and this is rare. In this new reality the addict will become willing to enter treatment. They may enter angry, and resentful, still blaming others and still trying to lure the enabler back into giving options other than treatment, but that is OK. They have taken the first step; they are in the treatment space and are operating within the new healthy boundaries provided by their loving family. It is at this time that the road to recovery opens. Often a family intervention along with a trained professional can be the catalyst to getting the addict into treatment. However an Intervention is not treatment in and of itself, family and loved ones need to be ready for an intervention as this should be used to set boundaries and take the addict in to treatment, it is not used as shock therapy to discourage the addict from using and changing his ways as this will not work. Recovery only begins once the addict enters treatment willingly or not. Remember “Say No More” And save the addicts life. Cinema Guide
November Cinema Guide
In the lead up towards Christmas there’s a wide variety of films coming out, especially this month. The three I’ve chosen should hopefully entice interest from even the most casual of movie-goers. Now Add Honey (Out Nov 5th)
Husband and wife comedy duo, Wayne Hope and Robyn Butler have well and truly put their stamp on Australian TV in recent years with a string of hilarious shows. Their new comedic venture, Now Add Honey marks the couple’s feature film debut, in which the normal life of a suburban family implodes when their pop-star cousin comes to stay. To be honest I’m a little skeptical about this one as it does look rather generic, but my advice would be to avoid the trailers and take a blind leap.
Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse (Out Nov 5th)
Starring: Robyn Butler, Lucy Fry and Portia de Rossi Rating: M (Nudity and coarse language)
Zombie films are a dime a dozen these days with a variety of increasingly bizarre scenarios being played. In this latest incarnation of the popular sub-genre, we view the zombie apocalypse from eyes of a scout group, who learn the meaning of true friendship as they save their town from the undead. I’m pretty
Spectre (Out Nov 12th) In this 24th entry in to the James Bond franchise, agent 007 is send on a trail to uncover a sinister organization after receiving a cryptic message from his past. The overwhelming success and critical praise of ‘Skyfall’ three years prior, has set the bar very high. I along with many fans and critics are very eager to see if ‘Spectre’ lives up to
the immense hype surrounding it. This will Daniel Craig’s fourth outing as James Bond in what I’m sure will be another hard-edged and gritty performance from the British actor.
Starring: Daniel Craig, Monica Bellucci, Léa Seydoux, Christoph Waltz and Ralph Fiennes Rating: TBA
keen for this one as it looks like a lot of fun and these horror/comedy mash-ups do offer a lot of fan service. Starring: Tye Sheridan, Logan Miller, Joey Morgan and Sarah Dumont Rating: TBA

Changes In Motorcycling Laws Lane filtering becomes legal in Victoria from 2 November. The move makes Victoria the fourth state or territory in Australia to legalise filtering. New South Wales was followed by an ACT trial and Queensland. Lane filtering is when a
motorcycle rider moves alongside vehicles that have either stopped or are moving slowly (less than 30 km/h). Currently there are circumstances where vehicles may pass stationary traffic. Finding gaps to do this can be easier
on a motorcycle than in a car, but the circumstances where it is lawful are the topic of some debate and confusion. One main benefit of creating new laws about motorcycle lane filtering is that they should provide clarity about where and how
THE Gippsland MX Region along with member Mr Bob Bedson have won the 2015 Employee Community Grant through Toyota Australia. The Gippsland Region Motocross Panel along with member Mr Bob Bedson are very proud to announce that they have won the 2015 Employee Community Grant through Toyota Australia. Long-standing member Bob Bedson along with his two sons Luke and Brendan have been riding and supporting the Shell Advance Gippsland Region Motocross Championships for many years. The Gippsland MX Region continually try to maintain and upgrade their equipment to benefit their riders so thanks to Bob’s nomination the Gippsland Region will be purchasing a defibrillator to keep in the trailer. Bob commented: “My boys are very proud of me winning this grant from Toyota for the Gippies. “The main aim is for the kids to ride and have fun spending quality time with
motorcyclists should be safely able to lane filter. Motorcycle lane filtering is a task that requires skill and experience to undertake safely. One way of encouraging safer practice is limiting lawful filtering to those who have graduated beyond a learner permit to a licence.
their dad which makes it all worth it,” he said. 14-year-old Brendan has been very successful this year finishing 4th on board his 85cc and we look forward to young Luke joining in the competition in the near future. has a few nice coffee shops, I have not found a bad one yet. From Yarra Junction, head out on the Yarra Junction - Noojee Road. Follow into Noojee, and turn left and go over the bridge at the start of Loch Valley Rd and turn right into “The Tool Shed” for lunch. From Noojee head towards Neerim and out to Drouin. Another lovely place for a coffee before heading onto Lang Lang, out to the South Gippsland Highway and head for home.

Mancave Collectables make Money! With Interest rates not returning a reasonable rate savvy investors are looking at alternatives to put their surplus funds into that they know will always be easy to “Cash In” if necessary and retain/gain in value.
Classic cars, Bikes, Automobillia and Brewianna ( Bar ware & signage ) is a proving to be a great investment and with the growth in popularity of the “Mancave” the display of these items can create that “Wow” factor!
Original Vintage items are still locatable at a price and although some collectors don’t like reproduction and reconditioned items these are retaining their value as the Aussie Dollar falls and cost of importing increases, plus they still offer the visual display effect, are much easier to obtain and are more affordable.
Australian Oil Company items such as Golden Fleece, Ampol and Neptune command excellent prices and are always at the top end of the market in any condition. Mobil, Shell, Caltex, BP and Castrol are still collected and displayed but are somewhat more affordable and depending on age easier to locate.
Badges, Calenders, Ashtrays, Bottle Openers etc...
(Everyone needs to be alert when purchasing items and establish if they are originals or reproductions.)
The range of sought items ranges from Handy Oilers through to Petrol Bowsers and other Automobillia includes Signs, Stationary,
From Accessory Manufacturers, Spare Parts Suppliers and other associated Automotive Manufacturers.
Pub Signage and other business signs are also very collectible and display well in the Mancave, they can be used to create themes such as a Hotel Bar, Drive Inn Theatre, Pool Hall, Barbers Shop, Race Track
or whatever you desire and all it takes is imagination, determination and a lot of Hunting for those Special pieces of the puzzle!
