As we look forward to Summer 2025, we are excited to share with you the theme of our upcoming Summer Sleepaway Camp season: Growing Together
Just as a tree grows stronger with time, so do we . Summer 2024 was the planting season Together, we laid down the roots of a Summer Sleepaway Camp experience, made possible through the relentless effort and passion of our Camp Kaufmann team as well as the construction and completion of our new dining hall, Girl HQ . Now, in Summer 2025, we will focus on growing tall, reaching for the sun, and nurturing our blossoming potential . For the seeds we plant here at camp don’t just sprout overnight; they take patience, persistence, and a willingness to embrace both challenge and change .
GROWING TOGETHER
Girl Scout Promise and Law
Promise
On my honor, I will try: To serve God* and my country, To help people at all times, And to live by the Girl Scout Law .
*Members may substitute for the word God in accordance with their own spiritual beliefs.
Law
At Camp Kaufmann, we create a safe space where every Girl Scout can put down roots Here, we foster an environment where each Girl Scout can develop the courage to step into her own potential and find her voice, the confidence to try something new and make new friends, and the character to support and uplift others in her community .
This summer, your Girl Scout will have opportunities to deepen her sense of discovery, identity, and sisterhood Through team-building activities, outdoor adventures, leadership development, and opportunities for personal reflection, she will gain the tools needed to continue growing long after she leaves the campfire behind .
We are so excited for what’s to come in 2025, and we look forward to the opportunity to continue Growing Together .
Yours in Girl Scouting,
Kristen “Mayor Fox” Glass & the Camp Kaufmann Leadership Team
#GrowingTogether
I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, and responsible for what I say and do, and to respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout .

About Camp Kaufmann
Located 75 miles north of NYC in Dutchess County, Camp Kaufmann stretches over 425 acres and features a lake, pool, archery range, hiking trails, butterfly garden, greenhouse, ropes course, zipline, and so much more! Open year-round, Camp Kaufmann welcomes Girl Scouts from across New York City to learn about the outdoors as they make new friends .
Our seasonal programs include day trips, weekend overnights, and longer sleepaway stays . No matter the length of your visit, you’re sure to enjoy the benefits of connecting with nature . Camp Kaufmann is owned and operated by the Girl Scouts of Greater New York and is fully accredited by the American Camp Association .
Nature Acclimation Process
As the only council that exclusively serves Girl Scouts living in in a 100% urban environment, we feel a special responsibility to get our members outdoors! First time explorations into nature can be scary . Knowing this, we offer a wide variety of experiences to help acclimate Girl Scouts to the natural world . We know that when members have a better understanding of the natural world, they are more likely to care for it .
The many benefits of spending time outdoors include:
• Girl Scouts discover that they can better solve problems and overcome challenges .
• Girl Scouts develop leadership skills, build social bonds, and are happier overall
• Girl Scouts become team players and care even more about protecting our environment . For more information on the benefits of the outdoors, read our Girl Scout Research Institute Report: “More Than S’mores . ”
