Solving mysteries can be hard! It takes lots of imagination, focus and teamwork. Juniors are invited to learn about the power of observation as they earn the Detective badge. Girls will challenge themselves as they learn what it takes to be a detective. During the day, girls will learn about a wide variety of things including fingerprints and how to create their own secret code! Toward the end of the program, they will have chance to test their new found abilities at a murder mystery dinner. Junior Detective badge included.

What you can do: try something you’ve never done before but have always been interested in. Eliminate “can’t” from your vocabulary because you CAN do anything!

Friday, March 13 – Girl Scouts Take Albany! Hop inside a G.I.R.L. van with council staff and take a trip to the New York State Capitol! Visit the New York State Museum to learn about all the amazing things in New York that we often take for granted. Take a tour of the Capitol building to see the incredible architecture—you’ll get to step inside spaces where all the legislative magic happens!
Saturday, March 14 – Leader A leader is confident, responsible and committed to changing the world for the better—she’s happiest when others join in! What you can do: lead a Take Action project to solve issues in your community in a sustainable way. Be a role model to younger girls by involving them in your activities and explaining to them why it’s important.

Did you know Girl Scouts can earn points for college? Girl Scouts have the opportunity to receive up to 2,500 Tuition Reward Points each year when they renew their Girl Scout membership. Troop leaders and co-leaders can earn up to 3,500 points each year when they renew. The program begins with Early Bird Renewal starting April 1 and ends June 30.
Tuition Rewards points are similar to frequent flyer points. Earned points are equivalent to dollars in guaranteed tuition/scholarships at participating colleges and universities. Points can be used at approximately 400 affiliated private colleges and universities across the U.S. There are 24 in New York—including St. Bonaventure, Clarkson, RPI, RIT, St. Lawrence, Elmira and Hartwick.

Challenge your inner inventor and get to work learning about inventions and creating some of your own! Daisies will create their own roller coasters. Brownies will build some awesome inventions,. Juniors will become product designers as they improve old designs and create new ones. Daisies will earn the Roller Coaster Design Challenge badge, Brownies the Inventor badge and Juniors the Product Designer badge. Includes snack and earned badge. Can you escape? Travel back in time with “Operation Sabotage Stanwix,” a teambased live-action puzzle game. Take the opportunity to enlist as a British spy trying to undermine operations at Fort Stanwix! Although the puzzles are based in history, no special skill or knowledge is required. The game takes place in one single (and accessible) room of the fort and is not physically strenuous. The event will take place rain or shine. Once you’ve escaped the fort, spend time learning how a cypher wheel works. Junior Ranger books and scavenger hunts will be made available to further explore area history on your own after you’re done. Time spent exploring the park counts towards your Girl Scout Ranger patch or certificate.

Join staff for the annual Girl Scout Fairy Event. Start the morning painting fairy doors and making a clothespin fairy and fairy container garden. After these enchanting crafts, listen to a reading of the book “Fairy Houses” by Tracy Kane. Then we’re off for a walk along the boardwalk with a few activities along the way. End the walk at the Fairy Trail and let your imagination go wild as we build our own nature fairy house along the trail.
