Troop Training Bonus Troops can request a $20 bonus after completing the FIVE essential GSNYPENN trainings: Leader Orientation (in-person), Leadership Essentials (gsLearn), First Aid/ CPR, Simply Successful Overnights and Simply Successful Camping. The Troop Training Bonus request can be found at gsnypenn.org/forms.
Simply Successful Overnights (SSO): Blended COST: Free Get ready to take your troop on overnight trips. SSO prepares participants for planning and facilitating a safe overnight Girl Scout experience; such as a lock-in, hotel or home sleepover. Webinar workshop does not include camping overnight and is a pre-requisite for Simply Successful Camping (SSC).
Simply Successful Camping (SSC) COST: $25 Your troop has completed an overnight and now you’re ready for camping! It’s time to take SSC and learn to plan and facilitate a safe group experience outdoors. Prepare meals using various methods, practice knife-safety, fire building and more. Pre-requisites: SSO and one group overnight experience. *Optional overnight.
American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Blended COST: $35 Get certified with this American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR and AED blended learning skills session. A four-hour online portion will need to be completed prior to the skills session.
American Heart Association First Aid/CPR/AED COST: $35 Get certified with the American Heart Association Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR and AED session. This is a full hands-on class with no online portion.
WEBINARS/VIRTUAL Year-End Reporting COST: Free Troop year-end reports are due May 31, will you be ready? Learn how the Finance tab in the VTK works, understand the report submittal and review processes, have the opportunity to ask questions and gain clarification in this webinar.

Each participant will learn about and understand all seven principles and their application. Volunteers will walk away with an understanding as well as a booklet of various activities they will feel comfortable sharing with their troop. Volunteers will also gain a basic understanding of how to practice minimal impact camping for primitive and backcountry camping trips. VOLUNTEER SUPPORT Service Unit Think Tanks COST: Free Calling all SU team members! Attend your area Think Tank to get prepped for an exciting renewal season. Develop an action plan to help first-year leaders wrap up the troop-year. Identify kick-off MY2021. Share advice, ideas and successes for leading a team of volunteers. Brainstorm ways for Girl Scouts to make an impact in your community. Meal and takeaways provided; all SU team members welcome. Volunteer Appreciation Dinners COST: Free GSNYPENN volunteers do it ALL! Each member year, our council honors volunteers nominated by their peers for amazing service. Formal awards are presented at our annual dinners. Come join us for a lovely meal and celebration, be inspired by a local Gold Award Girl Scout speaker and enjoy the company of your peers. Seats reserved for award recipients with additional availability for fellow volunteers. Be sure to register early on Doubleknot! OUTDOOR/ENRICHMENT Get Your Troop Outdoors! COST: $15+ Volunteers - Don’t miss out! Grab your favorite Girl Scout buddy and register for a very special day! Choose your challenge: venture into primitive camping, get archery training, use a map and compass, improve your knot tying knowledge and know when to use ‘em, explore advanced cooking recipes and techniques, plan your first Simply Successful Overnight, use “Back Pocket” programs when things don’t go as planned, or get more Journey Ideas in the Outdoors. We’ll provide the food, fun and takeaways - everything needed to get you excited to “Get Your Troop Outdoors!” Register for these sessions and MORE (like yoga, trail running and GaGaBall) online! Enhancing Leadership & Outdoor Skills Workshops COST: $15+ “Answer the everlasting call...COME TO AMAHAMI IT’S THE BEST OF ALL!” Is that verse familiar? Learn favorite Girl Scout camp songs and games, practice plant identification, get tips to help your troop be eco-friendly, get ready to take your troop trips to the next level and plan end-of-year ceremonies that are sure to end your troop year on a high note! Enjoy a day mixed with hands-on learning and self-guide exploration. Don’t forget to make time to hike to the fire tower, check out progress on the solar STEM lab/classroom and make new friends. Food and fun provided. Archery Training COST: $15 Registered adults and volunteers are invited to earn their archery certification. This certification will allow you to teach archery to Girl Scouts at any of our properties. Facilitated by Trefoil Camp Director Beth Jennings, a USA Archery Level 2 Instructor. Advanced Outdoor Cooking COST: $25 Are you looking for more outdoor cooking experience, new cooking methods or maybe new campfire recipes? Cook breakfast, lunch and dinner using foil, box ovens and Dutch ovens. Learn some tricks to help the girls experience success in cooking on a campfire. Enjoy fruit-stuffed French toast, mini-meatloaves and more. Advanced Outdoor Cooking is designed to help adults introduce girls to new recipes and gain new campfire cooking skills. Join us for a day of fun, food and cooking! Escape the Typical Teambuild! COST: $7 Getting girls to work together as a team on something they enjoy is a huge part of being a leader, and making that enjoyable each year can be a challenge. One innovative way to see how your girls solve problems together is through an escape room. As a council, we’ve designed a few rooms your girls can go to as a program. Now, you can bring the escape room experience to your SU or troop. Join our own expert, Jillian, for an engaging and interactive training. The first half will challenge you to work together with other leaders in an escape room and the second half will allow you to learn how to create your own room that is appropriate for your level. Not only will you see what an escape room can look like; we’ll show you how to create an engaging story, build puzzles, structure the timing and work on props. You won’t leave with an entire finished escape room, but you will leave confident in your skills to bring this event to your area! QPR Gatekeeper Training in Suicide Awareness COST: Free QPR stands for Question, Persuade, Refer. Get comfortable with some of Girl Scouts’ more intimidating badges—make a mess, make a mistake and make a memory while exploring four badges that many troops avoid. Discover local resources to support the badge, how to take VTK plans and make them your own, plus try your hand at badge activities. Dates TBA in the fall.
