a f t e r sc h o o l 2 0 1 6 - 2 0 1 7 n e w s l e t t e r Hi Girlstart parents,
Special Thanks to our c o r p o r at e , f o u n dat i o n a n d g o v e r n m e n t pa rt n e r s :
We hope the Girlstart girl(s) in your life had fun exploring science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) this year. Each week, Girlstart inspired your daughter(s) to be brave, creative, and curious, and our hope is she continues to embrace these characteristics. In the fall, girls explored engineering design challenges through manufacturing, forensics, electricity, circuitry, mechanics, acoustics, aerospace, and aeronautics. And, in the spring, girls worked in earth and environmental sciences and engineering, discovering geology, soil sciences, food chains, and the human impact on the environment. Each semester, we also take time for the girls to dream big and set goals for their aspirations in middle and high school, college, career, and family. We are honored to make hands-on STEM meaningful and fun for more girls across Texas, and we hope your daughter has had a positive experience through Girlstart After School. Connect with us on social media to share your stories with us and others! And check out our online resources and weekly hands-on activities too. Thank you and have a great summer!
