2013 Planning Guide
A supply chain partner you can trust
Emily Atkins Publisher/ Editor-in-Chief
Looking ahead to 2013, there is much to anticipate. We are planning a year jam-packed with interesting editorial content and innovative opportunities for marketers to reach our readers. Starting with our January-February issue we will be featuring a roundtable discussion on managing the logistics of doing business in emerging markets around the globe. This will be an exciting topic, and we look forward to hosting a dynamic group of senior logistics and supply chain professionals to discuss it. The first issue of the year will also feature MM&D’s unique Third-Party Logistics directory. This is a don’t-miss issue for any company involved in providing logistics services. It’s a great opportunity to showcase your unique service offerings to potential business partners. The directory has both print and online components, maximizing the visibility listed companies gain in the marketplace. Moving on to the spring, we will be presenting a special supplement on supply chain technology. From software to hardware, forktrucks and other mobile equipment to racking, the technology your business uses can make or break your profitability. This guide will offer tips on how to make the right choices for your operation as well as an overview of the latest arrivals on the market. In 2013 we are revitalizing the Datacapture section in the magazine. In four issues, it will focus on technologies such as barcoding, RFID, voice, and mobile computers that enable more efficient material handling and supply chain processes to support efficient warehouse and DC operations. We will also offer this content in an electronic format, with a specialized eNewsletter complementing the print edition. Our editorial team is already hard at work on several additional specialized eNewsletters for 2013, including coverage of forktrucks and mobile equipment, warehouse safety and ergonomics, transportation and logistics, automated handling systems, dock equipment, and pallets and palletization. As well, we’ll be offering software eNewsletters with a spotlight on WMS, transportation management, inventory management, workforce management and ERP. We are really pleased to be planning such a great year in 2013, and we are looking forward to having you join us. Our partners are key to the success of the magazine—we anticipate a strong year of mutual business success as we work together to serve the Canadian supply chain community with a meaningful and compelling editorial product.

Unique marketing opportunities
Thought Leadership Roundtable Opportunities Sponsoring an MM&D editorial roundtable will give your company exposure like no other. Associate your company’s name with a custom thought leadership project and demonstrate your enterprise’s thought leadership to the Canadian supply chain community. We organize these turnkey events from the planning through to publication. Our role: • Suggest suitable topic ideas; • Invite participants; • Organize the event logistics, including venue, catering, AV, and participant gifts; • Host and moderate the roundtable discussion; • Write and publish the feature article based on the roundtable in a print edition of MM&D and online. Your role: • Help brainstorm the topic; • Provide a representative to take part in the roundtable discussion; • Help select the other participants; • Distribute the results to your clients and prospects as you desire— print overruns and video are available options.
The Research Option Adding a custom research survey to your roundtable brings a unique marketing project to a whole new level. We will work with you to create a research survey designed to highlight an important issue that affects our readers. Your research-based event includes custom survey research on a strategic topic of your choice, followed by a roundtable discussion. The results are synthesized into a comprehensive feature editorial report that can be published as the cover story in the magazine. Experience shows that a far richer, more practically useful research result can be achieved by inviting seasoned practitioners to comment on the survey findings in a roundtable conversation. Their collected wisdom, in conjunction with hard facts, produces a powerful message—true thought leadership in the field of global supply chain management. Contact the publisher for details about sponsorship package and to discuss your research objectives.
Webinars You’ve got valuable information and expertise to share with Canada’s supply chain managers, but need a qualified audience and a way to reach it effectively. A targeted Webinar, hosted and moderated by MM&D’s editor can be an important part of the solution. A Webinar is short for ‘web-based seminar.’ Webinars are used to conduct presentations via the Internet. A Webinar is a highly effective tool to position your firm as a thought leader in the topic area. It is also a powerful Leads Generator. Call Catherine Martineau at 647.988.5559 for more information on Webinars.
