SCOTT'S THOUGHTS... Head Coach - Scott Booth
I'm sure both clubs are really looking forward to the match. It's been a long time since women's domestic football was played in this country. The players have worked incredibly hard to finally compete again so I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we can't wait for Kick Off!

COMMENTARY CORNER
Stephen Bark Looks Back At 2019...
GCFC TV commentator Stephen Bark takes a look back at his top league games from 2019. Celtic 1-2 Glasgow City 14/4/19 It was early in the campaign, but this game epitomised the character and determination in the City squad as they looked for a 13th successive league title. To come from behind in an important away match and establish a five-point lead at the top of the table set the tone for the rest of the season. Before Kathleen McGovern was sent off, the match could have gone either way but with the advantage in numbers, City sensed the opportunity, upped their game and dominated the match as Celtic looked to hold on. They got a bit of luck with the own goal, but it was nothing less than their play deserved. Glasgow City 3-0 Spartans 22/9/19 On the face of it, this looks like a routine home win against Spartans, but the opening goal was one of the moments of the season. No, it wasn’t one of those top drawer finishes that Hayley Lauder and Nicola Docherty are known for but it was a significant moment for one City youngster. Lucy Sinclair had just made her City debut as a second half substitute in a 2-0 win against Rangers a few days before. Her performance that night was enough to earn her the nod from Scott Booth to lead the line with City just four wins away from clinching the league title. In 16 minutes, a lovely move from Shine and Lauder saw the later roll the ball along the six yard box for the advancing Sinclair to stroke the ball home from close range. Hibernian 1-3 Glasgow City 27/10/19 A tight first half ended with City edging the game after Clare Shine’s opener before City played some of their best football of the season at the start of the second half. They dominated Hibs in a way the Edinburgh side would rarely allow and could have had the points in the bag before Megan Foley eventually doubled the lead. This game also highlighted City’s resilience as they staved off a Hibs fightback. Collette Cavanagh coming off the bench changed the dynamic in the home side and her header with 18 minutes to go left the game nicely poised going into the closing stages. Shannon McGregor would have put Hibs level had she not strayed offside before Jordan McLintock’s determination to burst through the Hibs defence and seal the win proved that this game anything but meaningless.

SHOW RACISM THE RED CARD Before kick off, players involved in all SWPL fixtures this weekend will stand together and call for an end to racism in football and society. The annual Fortnight of Action organised by the charity Show Racism the Red Card is an opportunity for all clubs in Scotland to show their support for the year-round, anti-racist education work in schools, workplaces, grassroots and youth football clubs and the prison service. Last year the charity worked with around 50,000 young people. In Scotland, 81% showed increased confidence in identifying and safely challenging racism, after workshops with their team of education workers and ex-pros. In addition to raising awareness of the charity’s work in Scotland, the Fortnight of Action from 10th – 25th October 2020 shows commitment at the highest level of Scottish football in eradicating racism and discrimination in all its forms from our game. We have heard of many instances where supporters have been proactive in promoting the anti-racism message, making it clear that racism and discrimination are not welcome at our club. We would like to thank you. Racism can manifest itself in many different forms. Some direct and very clear; some more subtle. We call on all our supporters to continue to challenge racism and to help us ensure that the anti-racism message is carried out beyond the Fortnight of Action. Education is the key and Glasgow City Football Club will support Show Racism the Red Card to ensure our future generation are equipped with the tools to challenge and eradicate racism from football and society. For useful resources and information, please visit www.theredcard.org/education COVID and events overseas have shone a light on the growing inequalities that some of us unfairly face. Still today, many experience this disproportionately due to the colour of their skin. Glasgow City stands with everyone who has had to endure racial prejudice in all areas of their lives. We condemn all forms of racism and any racist behaviour will not be tolerated at our club. Football is a sport that is loved by people across the world and football matches should be an enjoyable experience for all, regardless of ethnicity, religious background or nationality. Education is the key and Glasgow City will support Show Racism the Red Card to ensure our future generation are equipped with the tools to challenge and eradicate racism from football and society. Racism affects not just the victim, but can leave damaging effects on families, friends and entire communities. If you see, hear or experience racism at any level of football, please don’t be a bystander. Report it to the police or stewards.

MATCHDAY PREVIEW All you need to know....
Celtic are the first visitors to our temporary home of Broadwood Stadium for the 202021 Scottish Building Society SWPL season. Following the voiding of last season, the restart marks Fran Alonso's first SWPL campaign as Celtic boss and he'll be aiming to improve on a third place finish in 2019. It's the first time since August that City have hosted Celtic with the previous 3 meetings, including the now voided clash from February, have all taken place at K Park. It could be a momentous day for Glasgow City's Leanne Crichton with the midfielder potentially making her 150th start for City. There could also be SWPL debuts for Zaneta Wyne, Sharon Wojcik and Manchester City loanee, Tyler Toland. You can follow all the action from Broadwood Stadium this afternoon via our social media feeds and the game is also live on BBC Alba.
