The power of

PARTNERSHIPS IN 7 YEARS, OVER

HALF A MILLION

people have engaged with us

BodyWorks on Tour is a sensational travelling exhibition developed in partnership with GlaxoSmithKline. Our goal is to encourage people all over Scotland to reconsider their body’s potential and value through understanding the science behind it.

That’s bigger than the population of Edinburgh Our goal with Bodyworks is to provide the essential information to enable people to make better lifestyle choices and as a result go on to lead healthier, happier lives. The support from GSK enables us to take these messages to many hundreds of thousands of children and adults in their schools and communities, the length and breadth of the country. Dr Stephen Breslin CEO Glasgow Science Centre

We were delighted with the exhibition and the response from visitors to the events, it really complemented the lung testing and health messages that we were promoting. Suzanne McCormack Irish Thoracic Society

Skillful, highly trained BodyWorks on Tour communicators get across intriguing science information, encourage participation and ensure that, by doing, people remember. Our techniques work equally well for small gatherings, class and school groups, large festivals and fairs. Teachers and community leaders can make use of our continued professional development programmes.

Where

WE GO

Great experience for pupils good value for us as hiring a bus to go to Glasgow is very expensive and a long day out! Very well presented ... Nice balance of knowledge, humour and audience participation. Strontian Primary

BodyWorks on Tour has extended Glasgow Science Centre’s reach far beyond its original capacity. It has been part of events across all of Scotland as well as other areas of the UK and Europe. By delivering 15% of events in remote or rural areas and 30% of events in areas of high deprivation, BodyWorks on Tour removed the barriers of cost and distance for communities across Scotland to engage with science.

The BodyWorks on Tour team have driven over

157,247 miles across Scotland

That’s the equivalent of driving round the planet

6 times!

As well as...

380 overnight stays - that’s over a year away from home!

Working together brings results Over the years we have developed interactive, unconventional, health and well-being activities for education and community audiences. Our aim is to provide approachable science that is fun, hands-on and will allow individuals to make informed choices about their own health and well-being. This has attracted partnership work with many high profile, high impact events including Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games 2014.

Demonstrations like this remind me how much fun you can make teaching science for children encouraging them to take on board the learning. Kinghorn Primary School

It was a great success as the exhibits attracted lots of shoppers and we were able to engage with them in raising awareness of the services available in the local area. Thanks once again and look forward to working with you again in the future. Health Improvement Practitioner NHS Smoking Cessation
