Glasgow Science Centre, an educational charity, has our education programme at its core. Every structured learning session is carefully aligned with the Curriculum for Excellence and National Qualification stages, and our overall offer has been approved by HMIe.

WELCOME
This guide makes it easy to match your requirements to our programme, giving your students a great opportunity to engage with and be inspired by science and the broader STEM agenda. There’s a wealth of pre- and post-visit materials on our website entirely free to download and use. We aim to make the entire process as easy as possible, from initial booking to the details of your visit, giving you the chance to relax a little. This year more of our offer is available on demand, giving you the flexibility to choose activities that align with the stage and subject your pupils will find most useful. Other parts of our programme continue to operate to a calendar and we have clearly set the relevant dates out in the guide for you. In December, you can join us for Seasonal Science, when we put a festive twist on some of our popular education activities. You’ll get a warm reception from our bookings team, with new systems in place this academic year to make it easier for you to access information about grant eligibility, availability of each component of our programme and other useful and practical information. Finally, you’re cordially invited to our free Twilight Science evening in September 2016 during the Scottish Learning Festival, to explore in person what we offer.

OurFuture.Energy is an interactive website that engages 11-16 year olds in the energy debate. Visitors to the website will learn about, and form their own opinions on, the ‘energy trilemma’: security, accessibility and sustainability. Content is carefully considered for the audience, using everyday examples they can identify with, across a range of different interactive and engaging media, such as video and animation, games, debates and quizzes. The website also encourages young people to pursue an exciting and rewarding career in the energy sector by nurturing an interest in the core science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects. Our On Tour team of trained and experienced science communicators can deliver high quality and engaging curriculum-aligned science programmes in your school. We travel the length of Scotland, literally from Shetland to Stranraer, and will tailor content to suit schools, parents’ evenings, community groups and fetes. Keeping up-to-date with new learning techniques and finding relevant materials can be time consuming but Glasgow Science Centre teaching resources are here to make it easier for you.
A wealth of worksheets, investigations and interdisciplinary activities are yours for free when you visit the learning resources section of our website. These cover topics in biological systems, planet Earth, materials and more. All activities are set out clearly with links and the appropriate educational level.
Be our guest free of charge, before your pupils visit and explore what’s on offer at a time that suits you. Free teacher visits must be pre-booked at least 24 hours in advance and ID is required on the day of visit. The purpose of free teacher visits is to let you experience Glasgow Science Centre so you can consider an educational visit for your students.
