Powering the Future is a hands-on, highly interactive exhibition that provides a unique opportunity for the public and school children. They can immerse themselves in the science underpinning the critical issues related to energy supply and to understand the problems and challenges we face. Consisting of over 70 exhibits and innovative interpretation panels, the exhibition is helping to increase levels of knowledge and understanding around the energy mix. It creates an open supportive environment where visitors can identify the problems and challenges we face and to think creatively about potential solutions. Powering the Future provides clear, unbiased information on the benefits and limits of different sources of energy rather than promoting one over the other. The exhibition shines a light on the innovation and engineering excellence in the energy sector and is highlighting the exciting and rewarding careers that are available with a STEM background. Since opening in December 2015 Powering the Future is on target to engage with over 300,000 people and 60,000 school children annually. With an approval rating of over 98% the reaction by visitors to the exhibition content has been overwhelmingly positive. Many comments cite how appropriate and effective the content is, making it accessible to people of all ages and providing engagement with people at different levels. Supported by a series of core education programmes, activities, online resources and a dialogue series of events, Powering the Future is making a significant impact in supporting engagement around how we shape our energy future.

SUPPORTING THE DELIVERY OF A CURRICULUM FOR EXCELLENCE Primary and secondary school teachers have highlighted how Powering the Future is a perfect fit with the curriculum at any level and is a key reason for visiting Glasgow Science Centre. The exhibition is supported by ongoing educational programmes, a debate series, careers events and online resources.
OUR FUTURE.ENERGY OurFuture.Energy is a website for 11-16 year olds, which aims to highlight the importance of energy in our daily lives through engaging articles, games and videos as well as downloadable resources for teachers.
ELECTRIC DETECTIVE A hands-on workshop enabling P4 to P6 pupils to investigate circuits and energy use. Rated by teachers as a perfect way to deliver curriculum for excellence.
LET’S TALK ENERGY MASTERCLASS An interactive dialogue workshop that engages S1 to S3 pupils in the energy discussion. Pupils consider their role in the future of our planet and use of the resources we have by devising an energy policy for the year 2050.
FUTURE FUELS An interactive live show about how we could power transport in the future. Aimed at both public and education groups, the show was rated as excellent by visitors.
