GLASGOW SCIENCE CENTRE
New this year, to complement My World of Work Live! on Floor 2, is a fascinating set of workshops created in conjunction with Skills Development Scotland exploring careers and opportunities in STEM related subjects. Your pupils can ‘leave Earth’ to explore the cosmos in the Planetarium’s new and spectacular full dome digital projection system, complemented with a new programme of shows. Powering the Future, a new exhibition, will allow your students to learn about the role of energy in modern life. Full details of the supporting programming for this exhibition will be released in our January 2016 update. ‘On-Tour’, our outreach programme can bring science to your school or community literally the length and breadth of Scotland. You’ll get a warm reception from our bookings team, with new systems in place this academic year to make it easier for you to access information about grant eligibility, dates and availability of each component of our programme. Finally, you’re cordially invited to our free Twilight Science evenings in October 2015 and February 2016 to explore in person what we offer.
WELCOME
Glasgow Science Centre, an educational charity, has our education programme at its core. Every structured learning session is carefully aligned with the Curriculum for Excellence and National Qualification Stages, and our overall offer has been approved by HMIe.

ABOUT OPAL The Open Air Laboratories (OPAL) is an environmental project which aims to connect children and adults with the natural environment. We give everybody the chance to explore nature through our six surveys, which investigate the health of the UK environment. Our surveys have been designed by scientists, to be carried out by you and your class. Our team of Community Scientists can tailor activities to fit around the Curriculum for Excellence, to help you meet you outdoor education targets. From bug hunts to pond dipping, pupils will learn basic survey techniques and have the chance to contribute real scientific data to a UK wide environmental report. To find out more, visit

CODERDOJO
Glasgow Science Centre and Scottish Water are working together to create an exciting 3 year programme that will offer your pupils the opportunity to participate in a hands on, interactive Science Show and Workshop during their visit.
CoderDojo Scotland is a coding club where young people learn how build their own apps, games, websites and more. It makes learning to code a fun and social experience.
In addition, your pupils can talk to real water scientists from Scottish Water, learn about the work they do and see water science in action at the Making it Clear event in Septemebr & March. Making it clear is a free event.
To learn more about CoderDojo in Education please contact craig. steele@glasgowsciencecentre.org
