The steering group tasked to advocate on behalf of the community for the best result on the controversial rail overpass plans at Landsborough met again last week. Landsborough Overpass Reference Committee (LORC) chairperson Tim Fitzpatrick, from Landsborough Chemist, said the committee was pushing forward. “We have been working with ideas the community has submitted about what they believe the overpass should look like and where it should be located,” Mr Fitzpatrick said. The ideas are being collated into a portfolio and the committee will assess the strengths and weaknesses of each proposal. "To synthesise a way forward we must balance the needs of all the residents, business owners, the environment and our town’s heritage," Mr Fitzpatrick said. “Our goal is to then present this portfolio to the Landsborough community at a public forum in the new year." Once the committee has established the best option from the community’s perspective, this will be presented to the Beerburrum to Nambour rail upgrade project team (B2N project) and the State Minister for Transport and Main Roads Mark Bailey. State Member for Caloundra Mark McArdle has been supportive of the process from the start. “It is assuring to see this community take the reins

Members of the Landsborough Overpass Reference Committee with MPs Andrew Powell and Mark McArdle and demonstrate to the state government that they will not allow the community’s views to be overlooked,” Mr McArdle told the LORC meeting. Member for Glass House Andrew Powell was also at the meeting and supported Mr McArdle’s call. “Like Mark, I genuinely commend the community for putting in the effort and working together to consider all possible overpass solutions for the businesses and residents of Landsborough,” Mr Powell said at the meeting.
