Caring for the Hinterland community for over 20 yrs

Lest we forget Remembrance Day is commemorated in towns, cities and local communities across Australia at 11am on November 11 when Australians are encouraged to pause for a minute’s silence and remember all those who have suffered and died in wars, conflicts and peace keeping operations. We mark Remembrance Day because it was at this time and date in 1918 that the guns fell silent on the Western Front, officially ending the First World War. Locally there are a number of events taking place to coincide with Remembrance Day including a number of services organised by our RSL sub branches. Beerwah Beerwah and District RSL Sub Branch will hold a service at the Turner Park Cenotaph, Turner Street, Beerwah commencing at 10.25am with morning tea in the Beerwah Community Hall after the service.

Snippets from the Western Front An exhibition of original artwork will be displayed in St Mary's Community Hall in Montville from 10am-3pm daily from Friday to Monday, November 8-11. The exhibition, called Snippets from the Western Front, has a direct relevance to the commemoration of Remembrance Day. The artist is the late Ross Coulter from Central Queensland who visited the towns, cemeteries, battlefields and memorials of soldiers who served

the British Empire. Ross had many successful exhibitions and his artwork reflects the influence of his Australian Army operational services as a national serviceman in the war in South Vietnam. Ross's widow Kate has kindly loaned the artwork, including transporting it to Montville, and the exhibition has been supported locally by the Mapleton RSL Sub Branch with assistance from the Blackall Range Visual Artists.
