What’s on@the
winter 2012
Welcome This winter the Glasshouse celebrates its third birthday (July 1) and the range of services it provides to the community. As of December 2011, 600,000 people had come through our doors. This is remarkable given the size of our population and proves there is huge interest in the building and its events. While many focus on our theatre or gallery, we offer a multitude of other services...
• The multi-award winning Visitor Information Centre (and Box Office) provides excellent service for tourists and the community.
• Our Heritage and Museums service assists the region’s many local heritage organisations as well as providing a range of public programs and exhibitions in our regional gallery.
• Over 14,500 students have participated in our education program and we also provide support for TAFE training and university internships.
• Our venue sales team help our community bring their events and functions to life. We have hosted some of the biggest conferences ever held in Port. Since opening, our team has delivered over 1000 different events, conferences and shows. All of these events are backed up by our dedicated Front of House and Back of House staff, who consistently deliver outstanding results. Our team is part of a much larger Council team and together we all work to deliver on your behalf for our community. My pick of the winter shows? What A Man’s Gotta Do from the very funny man Andrew Horabin. I’ve seen him perform twice and can’t wait for the third! Joe Conneely Group Manager, Cultural Development (Glasshouse)

kids spot We LOVE kids at the Glasshouse. While their bodies might still be growing, their imaginations are already gigantic. We are always amazed and inspired by their energy and enthusiasm for all things creative. Bring your kids and come along to one of our Essential Energy Kids Spots this Winter. Kids Spot provides free art activities in the gallery for our Glasshouse ‘sprouts’– helping them grow their creativity, learn new skills and make new friends! Bookings essential, call 6581 8888 Kids Spot is free!
