GLBM Newsletter September 2020

September 2020 Dear Pastor, friends, and co-laborers in the worldwide work of Christ: I am working from home because my wife and I tested positive for Covid-19. Carolyn was almost asymptomatic, but I have pneumonia, and have been in quarantine for three weeks. Struggling to breathe, especially at night, I went to the hospital and the doctor literally said, “We can do nothing for you. Go home, force luids, rest, and try not to die.” You may recall that in my last newsletter, I stated that despite trying times, our home church and ministries in Myanmar were going forward, souls were being saved, and new members were being added to the congregations. In just a short time, things have changed drastically: Starting with just a few families, the virus came suddenly with great fury. Some had fever with chills, violent shakes, breathing dif iculties with dry persistent cough, head and body aches, digestive distresses, and most lost their sense of smell and taste. But some had no symptoms at all. Also, our people in Myanmar are experiencing a second, much stronger wave of Covid infections and deaths. Because of quarantines and closures, they cannot provide for their families. GLBM funds are low, and I am unable to travel. My doctor says my full recovery may be long. But I’m sure that you are like me: I want to be among those who, when faced with tribulation and trial, don’t quit or even slow down. My beloved Myanmar people are like that. Continually faced with the struggles of poverty, diseases, religious persecution, and now the current coronavirus challenges, they persevere. That’s what God’s people do! Because we walk by faith, and not by sight. Through it all, God wants us to trust Him. I do! And, I know you do too. That’s why so many of you have continued to send your missions support to GLBM. We need it now more than ever, and I am very grateful. Thank you for giving!
