Salir de tu país es una forma de empaparte de nuevas culturas, de encontrar formas diferentes de trabajar y de cuestionarte todo aquello que considerabas “lo común”. Siempre está bien escapar de tus costumbres para valorar todo lo que has dejado atrás y todo lo que te estás perdiendo ahí fuera. Leaving your country behind is one way to immerse yourself in new cultures, to find dif- ferent ways to work, and question everything that you thought was “common.” It’s always good to escape your routines in order to assess everything that you have left behind and everything that you are missing by being abroad.

Tenía muchas ganas de aventuras y quería cambios. Fueron 9 meses de aclimatarse continuamente con la vida del Erasmus. Era difícil tener que decir a tus padres que te encuentras continuamente en un viaje express. Aprendí que existen sitios mágicos que no sólo encontrarás en países o culturas, si no en las personas.

I was looking forward to adventure and I wanted change. I spent 9 months continuously getting used to the Erasmus life. Having to tell your parents that you are constantly going on express trips was hard. I learned there are magical places you not only find in countries or cultures, but also in people.

Tener la idea y la valentía de solicitar esta beca es uno de los actos de los que más orgullosa estoy, ya que gracias a ella he podido conocer numerosas ciudades alejadas de la mía y he tenido la oportunidad de conocer a personas increíbles de cada rincón de España. Sin duda es una experiencia que creo que todos deberíamos vivir para poder conocer (nos). Coming up with the idea and finding the courage to apply for the grant is one of the actions I am most proud of, because it enabled me to visit many cities far away from my hometown, and it provided me with the opportunity to meet incredible people from every corner of Spain. It is without a doubt an exper- ience I think everybody should have in order to get to know ourselves.

He hecho el Erasmus en Cagliari. Diría que ha sido el primer paso hacia la independencia porque primero, sales de tu rutina y te plantas en un país extranjero que no conoces, con gente que tampoco conoces y en una nueva universidad. Y entonces es todo nuevo para ti.La ciudad, la gente, la universidad donde vas a estudiar y el idioma que te toca aprender. I had my Erasmus in Cagliari, Italy. I would say that it was the first step towards independence because you first abandon your routine and you land in a for- eign country you’ve never been to, with people that you do not know either, and at a new university. And then everything is new to you. The city, the people, the university where you are going to study, and the language you need to learn.

He hecho mi beca de movilidad en Guadalajara, en México. En resumen, ha sido una de las experiencias más enriquecedoras de toda mi vida, la verdad. Tanto a nivel cultural, como gastronómico… Todo me ha parecido increíble. Tenemos un concepto y unos prejuicios sobre ciertos sitios de latinoamérica que no deberían existir.

My mobility grant took me to Guadalajara, Mexico. To sum it up, the truth is it was one of the most enriching experiences of my entire life. Culturally, gastronomically, etc. I thought everything was amazing. We have a concept and are prejudiced about certain locations in Latin America that just shouldn’t exist.

La experiencia erasmus es increíble. al principio puedes pensar que vas a estar solo porque no conoces a muchas personas pero poco a poco vas conociendo a gente de tu cultura, de otras culturas y de otros idiomas. Es una experiencia que recomendaría, sobre todo porque aprendes a vivir tú solo, te abre la mente muchísimo y, lo más importante es que sales de tu zona de confort. The Erasmus experience is incredible. At first, you might think you are going to be alone because you do not know many people, but little by little you start meeting people from your culture, from other cultures, and who speak different lan- guages. It is most definitely an experience I would recommend, above all because you learn to live on your own, it opens your mind quite a bit, and, most importantly, you leave your comfort zone.
