GLOUCESTER STYLE FESTIVAL

October 21st to 27th will stage a variety of fringe events and shows that celebrate all that is great about the city’s fashion and retail industry. From our vintage Ladies Lunch to the Hot in the City couture fashion show, our main events will showcase what the city has to offer to the fashion and beauty world. We will be promoting some amazing local and national retailers from all over the city.

Ladies Lunch Fashion Show Date: October 23 from 12 noon Venue: Gloucester Rugby Club

The first of our three main events at Gloucester Style, the Ladies Lunch Fashion Show is hosted at the stunning 1873 Club overlooking the Gloucester Rugby ground.

Gloucester Quays will be hosting the ‘Quay Trends’ catwalk show. This show is 45 minutes long, completely FREE and will give ideas on how you can rock the look for the autumn/ winter season. Staged inside the shopping outlet, this show is one not to be missed!

W ith a vintage and cherry theme, this fantastic event includes a drinks reception and two course meal with 50’s styled models with bright lips and big wavy hair as styled by Blushes. Watch the latest collections from Miss Silver, independent boutiques and Gloucester couture designers, whilst sitting back and enjoying an afternoon of fashion and fun.

W ith all the best retailers from Gloucester Quays, this autumn-themed fashion show will showcase how you can make the most of the city's famous retail outlet. Hair styled by Cream.

with Gloucester Style Festival As well as our three main fashion shows, Gloucester Style Festival will also feature various fringe events that will take place over the week.

Enjoy a glamorous black tie evening in the amazing surroundings of Blackfriars with a drinks reception, three course dinner, and a stunning fashion show Hot in the City. This black tie event has a spectacular, gothic theme and will include the best in couture, wedding and baroque style. Eastgate shopping centre, Kings Walk and the concessions in Debenhams will make up just a selection of the collections on the catwalk.

The Eastgate shopping centre will host a number of different stylists, giving chic advice to fashionistas on the streets of Gloucester. Students from Gloucestershire College will also be making an appearance at the shopping centre, providing sample beauty treatments and giving tips on how to achieve the latest looks. The Gloucester Guildhall will be showing the dark comedy film The Bling Ring and many other shops and counters will be running their own demonstrations and discounts to make the most of this fabulous occasion. Gloucester City Museum & Art Gallery has a ‘Fashion and Feminine’ exhibition to support Gloucester Style Festival which begins October 5 - November 23. The exhibition includes fashion illustrations and patterns by talented county artist HollyMae Gooch. Information on tickets can be found on their website.

vibrant and historical part of the city. I walk through the cathedral grounds each morning on my way into the workshop and I am swept away by the wonderful choral music coming from the cathedral - it really is inspiring!" Dress designer Kate Plumtree has also had her work displayed in Gloucester, when her ‘Worn to be W ild’ exhibition, which featured a magnificent array of animal-inspired dresses, went on show in 2012 at the Gloucester City Museum. Kate’s work includes principal costumes for the Royal Shakespeare Company and many West End shows including W icked, The Lion King and Grease.

The city features designer stores and outlets, as well as prestigious brands that have appeared on catwalks in London and New York. Blushes hairdressers, who are styling the hair for the Gloucester Style Ladies Lunch event, have been involved in London Fashion Week in the past doing hair for one of the designers.

Gloucester is also home to Emma W illis, shirt designer, who has a workshop in Southgate Street, as well as a shop on London’s Jermyn Street. Emma’s growing client list includes the Duke of Beaufort and Duke of Devonshire and her shirts sell online, at Selfridges, and on Sak’s Fifth Avenue in New York. Emma, who opened her workshop in Gloucester in 2010, said "It is great to be in such a

Gloucester is no stranger to style when it comes to some of the biggest fashion events in the UK.

Fashion legend Paul Costelloe made a trip to Gloucester to unveil his new store in the Gloucester Quays outlet at the end of 2012. The 1,392sq ft menswear store joined the growing number of exclusive brand names to have opened at Gloucester Quays.

Kingâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Walk will appeal to all ages for all kinds of fashion looks. As well as retailers such as River Island and Warren James, King's Walk is also a stone's throw away from organisations such as Save the Children and Marie Cure Cancer Care. These charity shops are a great place to pick up vintage one-off pieces to transform outfits into perfect autumn/winter looks.

We caught up with Lola on why she is so excited for Gloucester Style week. Where are your favourite places to shop in Gloucester? Gloucester showcases a wide range of fashion and I love the mix of independent boutiques, top high-street retailers and designer pieces available at the Gloucester Quays outlet. There is so much on offer which makes it very difficult to have a firm favourite. Are there any hidden gems in Gloucester that our readers should know about? Firstly, there is the 'Miss Silver Boutique' which is a bespoke

The second hidden gem is FAB AND FADED on Longsmith Street that left me in awe with fashion pieces dating from the 1920s to original 1950s home ware. Not only can you browse, admire and purchase clothes, you can have a cuppa and a handmade piece of cake while you look! Which trend are you most excited about for autumn/ winter 2013? My personal favourite AW13 trend is metallic. Think silvers, golds and bronze with beautiful embellishment and texture. This trend is perfect for the fast approaching festive period and by adding a shimmer of glitter it will jazz up any outfit. What have you enjoyed the most about putting together the events for Gloucester Style? I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people and retailers who are also extremely excited about firmly putting Gloucester city on the fashion and style radar!
