Dear alumni, Join us for the unveiling of new AAI alumni network services and for the launch of AIESEC Alumni Europe! It may be that years have passed since your last involvement with AIESEC. You probably have pursued a professional or academic career or maybe started your own business, without meeting AIESECers other than your close friends. How about boosting your career and enhancing your experience by reconnecting with AIESEC Alumni from Europe and from around the world? On behalf of AIESEC Alumni International Executive Board, I encourage you to join us at the AIESEC Alumni International Meeting and Regional Alumni Conference on 22-24 February 2013 in Novi Sad, Serbia, alongside AIESEC’s International Presidents’ Meeting. The Regional Alumni Conference will also be the founding assembly of the newly proposed AIESEC Alumni Europe. According to a valued AIESEC-tradition, you will be enriched by the multi-layered history of Novi Sad, Serbian folklore and present outlook, and the gala for AIESEC’s 60th anniversary in former Yugoslavia. AAIM and RAC is also great opportunity to reconnect with fellow alumni and establish new ‘win-win’ connections that will inspire and stimulate professional careers and businesses Book your calendar now for 22-24 Feb 2013 and expect registration opening soon; more details can be found at http://gls2013.org , e-mail office@gls2013.org.
AIESECly yours,

Welcome to Serbia “When I tell people about Serbia I say that it’s a country full of surprises. Belgrade is a city that never sleeps, and the people are incredibly hospitable and nice.” Serbia has connected West and East for centuries – a land which civilizations, cultures, faiths, climates and landscapes meet and mingle. It is located in the center of the Balkan Peninsula, in southeastern Europe. Serbia is landlocked but as a Danube country it is connected to distant seas and oceans. Serbia is crossroads of Europe and geopolitically important territory. The international roads and railway lines form the shortest link between Western Europe and the Middle East.
Welcome to Serbia
BELGRADE
Belgrade is the city of youth. More than 40% of its citizens are between 15 and 44 years of age. Belgrade has about two million inhabitants and it is the fourth largest city by population in Southeast Europe, after Istanbul, Athens and Bucharest. This city, living through and surviving numerous wars and destruction during the centuries, is one of the oldest cities in Europe, and thus had a number of symbolic names, such as: House of Winds, Combat Hill, and House of Freedom. You should visit Skadarlija, an old bohemian quarter of the city, where the poets and artists gathered in the late 19th and early 20th century.

NOVI SAD
Novi Sad is the second largest city in Serbia, the administrative seat of the northern Serbian province of Vojvodina. It is located in the southern part of Pannonian Plain, on the banks of the Danube River and Danube-Tisa-Danube Canal, facing the northern slopes of Fruška Gora Mountain. The city was founded in 1694, when Serb merchants formed a colony across the Danube from the Petrovaradin Fortress, a Habsburg strategic military post. In the 18th and 19th centuries, it became an important trading and manufacturing center, as well as a center of Serbian culture of that period, earning the nickname Serbian Athens. The city was heavily devastated in the 1848. Revolution, but it was subsequently restored. Today, Novi Sad is an industrial and financial center of the Serbian economy, as well as a major cultural hub.

How to reach Serbia: Airplane – Your final destination is the one and only airport in Belgrade called “Nikola Tesla”. Some of your transit airports might be: Frankfurt and Munich (Germany), Moscow (Russia), Istanbul (Turkey), Paris (France), Cairo (Egypt) and London (UK), Doha (Qatar). These are some of the biggest airports that connect with Belgrade. Speaking of airlines companies, you should consider these ones as most common for Belgrade: Lufthansa, Aeroflot, JAT airways, Turkish airways, Qatar Airways, Air France, Austrian airlines, Wizz Air, Nikki and Flydubai. NOTE: For countries that require visas to Serbia, we strongly recommended considering and booking connecting flights that go through the following countries: Moscow (Russia), Istanbul (Turkey), Cairo (Egypt) Tel Aviv (Isreal) and Doha (Qatar).
Train station – Central Train Station. This option can be really convenient for neighboring countries because it is rather cheap and the trip is not that long. Our railroads are connected to these major cities in our area: Budapest (Hungary), Vienna (Austria), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Munich (Germany), Zagreb (Croatia), Bucharest (Romania), Thessaloniki (Greece), Istanbul (Turkey) and Podgorica (Montenegro).
Bus – Central Bus Station. This is also a good option for European countries. Make sure if you try this one to find ticket
with the least intermediate stations so your trip wouldn’t last too long. All major cities in Europe have direct buses to Serbia with few intermediate stops.
Car – Since this is a rarer and bit more complicated option, please notify your delegates’ servicing manger about this so we can arrange it as well. This option could be convenient for neighboring countries such as: Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia.
