The Heat Is O !

As many of you are no doubt aware, Las Vegas broke a record this year—and it’s not one to be proud of. This year, we experienced more triple-digit-temperature days than any other in our recorded history—more than 100 (the previous record was in 1947, when it was exactly at the century mark). But good news! Temperatures are fi nally starting to go down, and the weather is— dare we say it?—quite wonderful right now. What better way to mark the start of fall than enjoying the great outdoors while you’re visiting Southern Nevada? Associate editor Kiko Miyasato has assembled a list that should keep you and your family busy (“Be an Outsider,” p. 40).

Of course, you’re also in Las Vegas to take advantage of all the entertainment options the Strip has to o er. So let’s get into this week’s issue of Las Vegas Magazine :

• Live music. Fans of Lenny Kravitz will be thrilled to discover that the man of many talents is performing a series of dates at Dolby Live at Park MGM (“Renaissance Man,” p. 34). And country superstar Carrie Underwood returns to her residency at Resorts World Las Vegas (“Country Cadences,” p. 38). Get your tickets now!

Revisit your favorite parts of this performer’s discography and career

Fans of Donny and Marie who have heard Donny Osmond speak lately would tell you his voice hasn’t aged. Osmond, who recently celebrated three years and 300 performances of his Las Vegas Strip residency, maintains his singing ability through a combination of good genes, healthy living and vocal exercises.

Osmond covers his entire career from “Puppy Love” to “Soldier of Love” in his Harrah’s Las Vegas show. That includes material from early ’70s Osmonds albums such as Phase III and Crazy Horses “Phase III, actually I like that album,” said Osmond in an exclusive interview with Las Vegas Magazine. “What’s interesting is the Osmonds’ trajectory as a band was more rock ’n’ roll. I don’t know if I would go so far as heavy metal, although Metallica … James Hetfield said they used to do “Crazy Horses” in their setlist. Metallica said this. Ozzy Osbourne told me it’s one of his favorite rock ’n’ roll songs of all time.”

Osmond just happened to enter adolescence at the dawn of the ’70s pinup era. He was destined for a solo career as well as overexposure in magazines aimed at teens. Donny & Marie rescued him from that, and rescued TV audiences from the early ’70s doldrums. Now he’s on his own, revisiting his rock ’n’ roll roots five nights a week in a show co-created by stage director Raj Kapoor. He raps. He reminisces. He’s complemented by a dynamic live band led by drummer Earl Campbell and dancing dynamos captained by superstar-in-waiting Miki Catherine. He also meets fans for preshow Q&As, where attendees are often repeat VIPs.

“It’s really interesting when you think about the different styles of music that I’ve done,” said Osmond, whose single “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” from the Mulan soundtrack has been streamed on Spotify more than 333 million times. “Yeah, I was known primarily as a teenybopper … But it’s kind of a misconception as to who I was through the years that’s slowly eroding away.” –Matt Kelemen

Where the Wild Laughs Are

Star’s self-titled venue promises plenty of hysterics

Brad Garrett did not have it easy for the first half of his life. By 1997, the over-6-foot-8-inch comedian decided he wanted to live a life of sobriety and start fresh with a clean slate that would enable him to be the best family man he could be. He then realized he needed a purpose bigger than himself to ensure he’d never fall back into self-medicating. He needed his own comedy club.

By 2009, he got one in his beloved Las Vegas, where he opened for Frank Sinatra, among many other classic entertainers, in the ’80s. It was sort of a destination within MGM Grand, with an old-school feel, a bar and clamshell footlights.

Now Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club has moved to The District at MGM Grand. Its lounge, featuring live music by Ashley Fuller and the Collective on Fridays and Saturdays, is open to passersby. Garrett, best known for his long-running role as Robert Barone on CBS sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond, takes the stage frequently. (He’ll be there this week, from Oct. 23-25.) He’s a bridge between old-school comedy and contemporary social observation stand-up, and has a penchant for crowd work. Audience members can

count on being part of the show.

This week’s featured comics also include Chris Franjola and Amy Shanker (Oct. 21-27) and Dan Gabriel (Oct. 21-22 and 26-27).

Writer/comedian Franjola is probably most well-known for his podcast, Cover to Cover with Chris Franjola and Juicy Scoop with Heather McDonald, but he’s also been a contributing panelist on Lights Out with David Spade, as well as a longtime writer and regular performer on Chelsea Lately

Turning a career in teaching to a career of stand-up worked well for Shanker, who after 15 years transitioned into comedy, with podcast appearances and regular appearances at clubs across the country.

Gabriel’s been a hard-working comedian for years, appearing on Comedy Central, Showtime, The Late Late Show and Comics Unleashed, as well as Sirius XM. He’s opened for Dave Chappelle, George Lopez and Bob Saget, and his humor is a direct reflection of his life as a husband and father. He’s relatable and absolutely hilarious. –Matt Kelemen

Next Level

Set a new high score at this high-energy hot spot

Strip hotels are full of bars and lounges, each with their own unique spin and offerings. One of the newest, and easily one of the most enjoyable to date, is The Cove Bar & Arcade at Treasure Island, an all-in-one destination directly across from the Mystère theater that not only features great cocktails and sports viewing, but some of your arcade favorites. There’s no end to the fun to be had at this 7,367-square-foot space. Bring the kids (all children under 14 must

be accompanied by an adult) to enjoy simulations of golf, soccer, football, baseball, basketball, hockey, rugby, lacrosse and much more, as well as virtual reality games like King Kong of Skull Island. There’s also air hockey, claw machines, champion shuffleboard, Jet Pong (arcade-style beer pong), foosball and classic arcade games like Pac-Man’s Pixel Bash

Perhaps the biggest draw here is duckpin bowling. This alternative to classic

bowling is a very challenging variation, featuring shorter and lighter pins, meaning strikes are more difficult.

Add in 19 high-definition televisions, eight video poker stations and a great beer and cocktail menu and you’ve basically found your new party headquarters. However, fair warning: Once you enter, you may never want to leave. –Ken Miller

Now You’re Cooking!

Celebrity chef’s iconic reality competition show is reproduced at this standout Strip restaurant

Gordon Ramsay is truly the total package when it comes to celebrity chefs. His empire is based as much on the signature items he’s famous for as it is on his attitude, determination and, at times, devastating sense of humor. His brand is one of the most respected in the culinary world, and the proof of that is the number of restaurants he’s opened in Las Vegas—five and counting. (His sixth outpost is soon to open at Flamingo.) But the true centerpiece of the Ramsay universe on the Las Vegas Strip is undeniably Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen at Caesars Palace, a re-creation of the famous Red and Blue Kitchens from his long-running reality cooking competition show, where you’ll get to enjoy all the wonderful dishes you see prepared on TV.

Appetizers include those now-famous pan-seared scallops (how many times have we seen Hell’s Kitchen contestants unsuccessfully cook them to Ramsay’s specifications?), served in cauliflower purée with golden raisins, crispy prosciutto and vadouvan, as well as a butter-poached lobster tail served with truffle risotto and crispy onions.

This would be a good time to order a cocktail, and we can’t recommend highly enough the Notes From Gordon, a refreshing blend of Plymouth dry gin, green tea, lemongrass, peach and lemon. Each individual cocktail contains an attached note with a famous Ramsay saying. Think of it as a hilarious, alcoholic take on the fortune cookie. (My most recent one read, “This lamb is so undercooked, it’s following Mary to school!”)

Meat lovers will all find something to love here, from braised short rib and a 14-ounce dry-aged New York strip to Jidori chicken scallopini (all can be enhanced with foie gras, bone marrow or seasonal truffles).

If you want the classic Ramsay experience, the Signature Prix Fixe is for you—you get pan-seared scallops, heirloom tomato salad with cucumbers, feta, garlic croutons and pickled red onions, all in a basil vinaigrette, beef Wellington, served with potato puree, glazed root vegetables and a red wine demi-glace, and the most irresistible dessert on the entire Strip: Sticky toffee pudding, served with speculoos ice cream. –Ken Miller

A Lasting Impression

See this upbeat performer over and over again!

Family-friendly shows in Las Vegas don’t get much better than The Magic of Jen Kramer, where its star wins every audience over with a million-dollar smile and an enthusiasm that’s simply infectious, not to mention illusions that make jaws collectively drop. And her host property recently announced that the magician, who was once named Female Magician of the Year by the International Magicians Society, will continue to perform at the property for the foreseeable future.

“Jen has become part of our Westgate

family over these last six years,” said Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino president and general manager Cami Christensen in a news release. “It has been a wonderful relationship and we can’t wait for our guests to experience the exciting new illusions in her show.”

Kramer herself said she is “thrilled, honored and excited to be extending my residency at the legendary Westgate Las Vegas and sharing innovative new illusions with our audiences. It’s been an amazing six years so far, and I can’t wait

to make many more magical memories with the wonderful team at Westgate.”

That means many more shows with Kramer doing what she does best—interacting with audiences as she manipulates cards, makes drinks appear as if from nowhere, bringing smiles to the faces of numerous volunteers and generally making everyone feel just a bit better than they did coming in. –Ken Miller

Set the Senses Tingling

Stimulate your brain at this immersive attraction

A trip through ARTE MUSEUM is sure to leave your head in a different space than you entered with. The immersive attraction features multiple rooms filled with a variety of incredible experiences inspired by nature. Start by entering a long room of waterfalls; mirrors and projections make them seem to stretch forever.

That theme of infinity continues throughout the exhibit, where you’ll traverse a tranquil, camellia-filled wonderland filled with subtle scents. ARTE MUSEUM actually has a number of mild fragrances throughout, designed by Marianne Nawrocki Sabatier, a renowned French perfumer. And the audio component of the exhibit was created by music director Young-gyu Jang, to enhance each area’s theme. Each new area you enter is different from the one before, with waves, ocean scenes and gardens inviting you to lose yourself for a few moments, and larger-than-life mythological creatures inhabiting a lush forest in season after season. If you have a child with you, stop at the curved desk to create your own work of art, which is then able to be scanned and will appear on a huge screen curving in front of you, where others’ artwork is also cavorting.

There’s so much more here, but be sure to take in a sweet spot of tea upstairs in the ARTE Tea Bar, where you’ll have a personal light experience of your own. –Nina King

Everything’s working out for this trainer

Standing next to Deacon Randle can seem just a tad bit intimidating—he’s 6 feet, 4 inches tall and built like a brick house. Mexican

restaurant celebrates 20 years with a cultural festival

One of the most revered restaurants in Las Vegas has to be Border Grill.

This casual restaurant by chefs Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken, located poolside at Mandalay Bay, has celebrated and elevated Mexican cuisine. In recent years, the regional cuisine has increased in popularity, thanks in part to the efforts of chefs like Feniger and Milliken, who preside over Border

Grill’s inaugural Mexican Food & Wine Festival this week in celebration of the restaurant’s 20th anniversary.

“We’ve seen firsthand how the city’s culinary scene has evolved, and it’s been so rewarding to see how much Mexican cuisine continues to resonate with locals and tourists alike,” said Feniger. “Authentic Mexican food creates community, builds culture, and

provides comfort—it’s where bold and vibrant flavors come together.”

Those vibrant flavors come together at Border Grill in such favorites as chicken poblano enchiladas smothered in a verdant sauce; fish tacos available both grilled and beer-battered; steak nachos with organic black beans, Yucatan pork (achiote pork roasted in banana leaves) and a chili relleno

Chicken poblano enchiladas

burger, piled high with a cheese-stuffed poblano, tomato and chipotle aioli. You can switch out the beef for Impossible meat if desired.

At the weekend brunch, sit on the patio and order from an array of small shareable plates and larger entrées like the steak and eggs; spicy chicken tamale with guajillo sauce; salmon avocado toast; horchata French toast; and prickly pear parfait. Plus, Border Grill has some of the most delicious margaritas around, with options such as the blood orange margarita with Cazadores blanco tequila and the Zig-a-Zag guava margarita with Zignum tequila. At brunch, the flavors of pineapple, vanilla and lime accent the margarita.

But perhaps you prefer wine. That’s lucky, because Border Grill has an extensive list of Mexican wines. “At Border Grill, we’re proud to be at the forefront, not only with our food but as the first and only restaurant in Vegas to feature a full Mexican wine list, showcasing the incredible depth and quality of Mexican wines,” Feniger said.

“It’s no surprise that a city so diverse and vibrant as Las Vegas is embracing Mexican cuisine more.

That passion for both food and wine has led the pair to spearhead the Border Grill Mexican Food & Wine Festival on Oct. 25, which features 15 wineries to sample from, and cuisine from not only Border Grill, but also from the chefs’ other venues like BBQ Mexicana and Vegas restaurants such as Rosa Mexicano at Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. A portion of ticket sales supports the Nevada Restaurant Association Foundation’s ProStart.

“We are continually innovating our culinary offerings to provide exceptional dining experiences,” Milliken said. “The inaugural Border Grill Mexican Food & Wine Festival represents a significant milestone for us, as we bring together the rich flavors of Mexican cuisine with carefully selected wines. We are excited to offer our guests a sophisticated and memorable experience, showcasing the best of both worlds in an elegant and unparalleled setting.”

Charlie’s Paranormal Experience provides a seasonally spooky way to explore Omega Mart

There are two parallel worlds inside Omega Mart, the superdupermarket located with the menagerie of immersive experiences at AREA15. One is the market itself, where Omega Mart has exclusive rights to sell a range of products and produce from footwear for walking on eggshells and Lonely Hiker Protein Feast to mild texture food-substitute cereal and tattooed turkeys. The other is the backroom area occupied by Dramcorp, the enigmatic entity behind Omega Mart that is cur-

rently occupied this Halloween season with sighting reports of the elusive Charlie Dram.

The Dram family invites the public to help find or otherwise encounter its wayward scion through Nov. 2 by meeting at Omega Mart for 4 p.m. search parties based on a tour designed by Charlie himself, dubbed Charlie’s Paranormal Experience. Charlie grew up fascinated by comic books, Daikon Posable Plushie toys and the mystic arts. One day he found a here-

tofore undiscovered hidden entrance to Dramcorp’s operations center and never came back out.

Assisting in finding traces of Charlie means navigating the maze of Dramcorp’s secret passages, hallways, immersive art installations and supernatural phenomena. Members of the group are given special headphones so the guide’s narrative and instructions can be heard at all times, or turned down momentarily for a bit of individual exploration.

omegamart.com or 702.846.1900

After a few minutes of perusing the market shelves, the group is led through one of the hidden entrances to the employee locker room, where the next step is through a portal into an entirely different dimension, or dimensions. Guides, representing the Society of Peripheral Studies, slow-reveal conspiratorial clues and objects to be found.

An indescribable object may be hidden in an ice cooler, a scepter in a Dram employee’s desk or a croissant-shaped

curiosity up high behind glass. Clues to the fate of family patriarch Walter Dram and CEO Cecelia Dram’s role in it come together like pieces of a puzzle. Curiosity about Marin Dram, missing under mysterious circumstances since January 2021, may remain unresolved by the conclusion of the search.

Explorers will feel the cosmic energy of The Source, though. Dramcorp capped the Source Well and rerouted its power into Omega Mart environments such as Seven Monolith Village, a 36-foot rock canyon with projection mapping creating enchanting imagery on the walls, and The Runoff Stream, an infinity-mirror river backlit by 15,000 LEDs beneath guests’ feet.

The Factory, “a cyber-spiritual facility,” is the futuristic playground of

Omega Mart with hands-on contraptions and sound-generating consoles located throughout the Wonka-esque realm. A series of Tik Tok videos paying homage to the Alien franchise could easily be shot here, as it resembles the inside of a space trawler designed by H.R. Giger while in a whimsical mood. Whether traces of Charlie can be detected in the Factory or among the Easter Island-like heads inside the hall of immersive art installations depends on the collective intuitive potential of the search party. Regardless of the results, surviving Charlie’s Paranormal Experience does garner guests impressive pins from the Society of Peripheral Studies. It’s a wise way to discover Omega Mart for the first time—and likely won’t be the last.

Lenny Kravitz shines in the pop culture spotlight with his latest album and triumphant tour

Lenny Kravitz is having a moment. He never went away, so it’s not really a comeback, but audiences have responded enthusiastically to his latest live appearances as he prepares for his fi rst Las Vegas residency. His 12th studio album, Blue Electric Light, has received universal praise from critics since its release in May, with the video for second single “Human” taking Best Rock Video honors at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. Audiences at the Sept. 11 ceremony witnessed a fi red-up Kravitz, fresh from the European leg of the Blue Electric Light Tour, playing a medley of “Are You Gonna Go My Way,” “Human” and “Fly Away.” Kravitz and his band, featuring longtime collaborator Craig Ross on guitar, had played the same three-song set in reverse order June 1 at Wembley Stadium when they performed at the kicko show of the 2024 UEFA Champions league Final.

The two appearances were nice bookends to more than 25 summer festival and arena dates. Kravitz fi lmed a video for “Paralyzed,” the third single from Blue Electric Light, while he was in Paris. The 60-year-old vegan owns a house there where the designs of everything from the furniture to the wallpaper emanate from Kravitz’s imagination. He’s not a dilettante. Manhattan-based Kravitz Design was established in 2003. The company has private residences from around the world, recording studios, cameras, high-end accessories and Las Vegas luxury suites in its portfolio. Kravitz himself was enlisted as creative director for Dom Perignon in 2018, resulting in photo-shoot campaigns and limited-edition bottles. When it comes to music, though, it was when Kravitz stopped trying to write songs by design that all of the influences he absorbed in life coalesced into his own sound for his 1989 debut album. Let Love Rule demonstrated appreciation for Curtis Mayfield, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Prince rather than approximation. He reached a high, musically and chart-wise, when transcen-

dentally soulful “It Ain’t Over ’til It’s Over” (featuring Earth, Wind & Fire’s Phenix Horns) from 1991’s Mama Said reached No. 2. It was 1993’s No. 1 album, Are You Gonna Go My Way, that put Kravitz over the top and set him on course to becoming the institution he is today. The video for the rocking title track, with Kravitz’s dreadlocks flailing and Cindy Blackman epitomizing cool in shades behind the drum kit, became iconic.

8 p.m. Oct. 23 and 25-26, starting at $90 plus tax and fee. ticketmaster.com

Kravitz has received praise for, if not returning to his studio album roots, allowing music to flow out of him organically on Blue Electric Light similarly to the way it did in his early career. Two songs, “Heaven” and “Bundle of Joy,” originated with back-in-theday demo tapes that Kravitz meticulously re-created with new technology.

That may be why the drums on “Human” sound so Prince, and why Kravitz delivers such impassioned vocals. He’s in great shape, flowing with inspiration, and wants to contribute to the world positively. “As far as I’m concerned my music is to amplify love,” he told interviewer Zane Lowe in an Apple Music podcast. “I can’t help it. It’s what I do.”

Autumn gets a magical outlook at Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens

Although fall has been something of a challenge this year, the glory of the season still shines through, especially in Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens’ harvest display, The Garden of Time.

In the foreground are a large array of greenery, while whimsical timepieces and twisting wooden sculpture of an elk flank an arching, inviting organic structure straddling a pool. To one side are a huge mantelpiece-style clock, and another large clock face resting under a glass cloche.

The East Bed acts as an elaborate entrance, with turquoise path stones leading to the North Bed, and twisted wooden fencing and a giant-sized lantern sitting on each side. Overhead is a massive clock face, and in the center of the path is an 18foot arbor with a magnificent wooden owl perched on one side, inviting guests to stop for a moment of reflection.

Clocks also figure prominently in the South Bed, where an antique cottage is framed by a metalwork clock and the “Tree of Time,” a 36-foot-tall beauty adorned with a variety of colorful fall leaves. In front of the brightly lit cottage lies another serene pool, while a stag poses off on the side and two hares battle fiercely. Each bed in the exhibit is different, yet integrates common elements, such as this year’s clock faces placed throughout the conservatory, piles of pumpkins and a variety of leaves and chrysanthemums in traditional fall colors. More than 675,000 autumn-hued leaves were used in the display this year.

And in the magnificent West Bed, you’ll find a 37-foot-tall “timely” treehouse for fairies, with the creatures flying overhead as another wooden stag walks through and waterfalls on each side. Arching over the center of the bed and yet another placid pool is a gorgeous wooden bridge accented with greenery. It leads to a magical wooden cottage, which houses the Garden Table, where you can make reservations for brunch from Sadelle’s or a harvest-themed dinner from Michael Mina. Sadelle’s serves up its prix fixe brunch menu at four seatings daily, while Mina has two seatings each night, Wednesday through Sunday. (Call 702.693.7317 for reservations, which are required). Wandering the perimeter of the bed yields beautiful new details with each step, including a floral “painting” in a side bed, and a glimpse inside the Garden Table.

Country superstar Carrie Underwood returns to the Strip for more magnificent moments

Everyone knows Carrie Underwood can belt out a verse. Everyone knows Carrie Underwood has incredible legs. Everybody knows Carrie Underwood will dig her key into the side of a pretty little souped-up four-wheel drive. And everyone knows you’ve got to see Carrie Underwood in REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency

The country superstar has pulled out all the stops for her Vegas shows that feature one-of-a-kind set pieces and costumes, supremely talented performers and, of course, the best of Underwood’s catalog.

From beautiful ballads and pop country bangers to gospel hymns, the songstress does it all. Radio hits like “Cowboy Casanova” and “Good Girl” kick off the show in a high-energy fashion, getting the crowd on its feet and ready to dance, while slower-paced

yet powerful numbers like “Jesus, Take the Wheel” and “How Great Thou Art” offer calmer opportunities to take in the singer’s incredible talent. One extremely lucky audience member may even find themselves onstage singing one of Underwood’s most upbeat and recognizable tunes.

There’s much more beyond the music, too. Resorts World Theatre is known for housing some of the most elaborate presentations on the Strip, and REFLECTION is no exception. Even in the more static moments of the show, visually interesting graphics and lighting design elevate the whole viewing experience. And when you see some of the super-creative props that have been made specially for Underwood’s Vegas show, you’ll realize the vocalist has put together a show most performers could only dream of.

One of the neatest items to grace the stage appears during the singer’s performance of “Two Black Cadillacs”—a custom-made throne constructed with parts of a 1963 Cadillac. And of course, there’s a flaming Jeep and a glittery water feature.

If the concert itself is just not enough Underwood for you, worry not. You can find Easter eggs all over Resorts World Las Vegas. Stop into Crossroads Kitchen for a preshow dinner and order the Carrie Underwood Reflection Pear Carpaccio, made with Climax blue cheese, walnuts, endive and whole-grain mustard vinaigrette. If you’d rather party postshow, pop on over to Gatsby’s Cocktail Lounge after 10 p.m. on Oct. 23 for Denim & Rhinestones, featuring unbeatable drink deals like buy-one-get-one cocktails for all ticketholders.

In 100 minutes, you’ll hear more than 20 songs, including nine No.1 hits.

Twenty custom ‘fits were created just for this residency, and Underwood wears seven per show.

Three screens, eight band members, four aerialists, two stage managers and approximately 90 crew members make the dynamic display possible each night.

Underwood’s 45-foot by 20-foot water feature uses 3,000 gallons of 98-degree water and is coated in 100 pounds of glitter.

By the end of this week, Underwood will have played 62 Reflection shows in Resorts World’s 4,703-seat theater, meaning more than 180,000 fans will have seen the production.

Excellent weather means only one thing: It’s time to enjoy outdoor activities

The weather’s beautiful in Las Vegas this time of year, so hop off that slot machine, steal away from shopping and put down that second cocktail—just for a spell, mind you—and check out some great outdoor activities for the day!

The spooky season is in full swing, so get

in the holiday spirit by heading out to Boulder City and booking a ride on the Boulder City Halloween Express. Enjoy a 30-minute train ride with fun activities aboard. After disembarking, head to the Monster Mash dance party with refreshments, games and even a costume contest. Rides this week run Oct. 25-26 at 6 p.m. boulderrailroadmuseum.org

Put some pedal to metal out in the desert or around a racetrack by checking out SunBuggy Fun Rentals and Vegas Superkarts. SunBuggy says to bring the group or even the whole family (read: kids!) for some dune buggy experiences. Head out to the desert at top spots like Valley of Fire and Vegas Dunes and strap into a one-,

Grand Canyon Skywalk

two- or even four-seat dune buggy for some o -roading adventures. A real cool experience is the tour company’s Vegas Mini Baja Night Chase—when the sun goes down, let the glow of the city light up your o -roading adventure as you race your friends in the dark in a dune buggy. If racing your friends is an adventure that you’re really after, travel about 20 minutes from

the Strip to Vegas Superkarts—an outdoor go-kart racing attraction. Superkarts o er a 4-stroke gas engine, resulting in a much faster, more powerful vehicle than the average go-kart. Your group will race around a 1,600-foot-long racetrack with 10 turns, hairpin corners and straightaways. Time to earn serious bragging rights! sunbuggy.com / vegassuperkarts.com

What if I told you there was a lake in Las Vegas—just a short drive from the Strip? Yup, even in the middle of the desert you can enjoy some water time at the manmade Lake Las Vegas and a host of activities through Lake Las Vegas Water Sports. This company has tons of rental options. Paddleboarding is all the rage, and you can rent one with one- to two-hour options. If sitting and paddling is more your thing, rent a kayak, single or tandem-style. LLVWS also o ers group fun in the form of electric boat rentals or swimmable pontoon boat rentals. For you daredevils, shred the lake with an electric surfboard experience. lakelasvegaswatersports.com

If you’re going to head outdoors in the Southwest, you’ve gotta check out the Grand Canyon. But the behemoth natural wonder stretches far and wide, so book your adventure with Grand Canyon West. The company o ers tickets to a variety of West Rim Grand Canyon excitement. Test your nerves as you walk across the glass-bottom Skywalk—a horseshoe-shaped cantilever bridge suspended 4,000 feet from the canyon floor. Grand Canyon West also o ers highlights like river rafting down the Colorado River, 3,200 feet of ziplining (reaching speeds of 45 mph!), hiking and biking trails and immersive exploration of tribal lands at Hualapai Point and helicopter and pontoon tours.
