FELICES FIESTAS. Eduardo Soto Magaldi Harmon Hall
A time for change
We find ourselves in the last trimester of the year. These are the months when you should be reflecting and thinking about transformation. You still have plenty of time to accomplish the goals you set for yourself at the beginning of the year, cross them out from your list and think of new resolutions for the year that is about to start. If one of your New Year's resolutions is to travel, we recommend you spend the holidays in one of these marvelous beach resorts: Bermuda, Ibiza, Jamaica, Mykonos and Antigua & Barbuda are idyllic settings where you can enjoy the best beginning to your year. If your intention is to save some money in 2019, we give you a couple of reasons why investing your money in the long term is the best option. For those who are avid cooking fans, we share a couple of recipes that you can cook accompanied by your loved ones. Usually we all desire tangible and material things and we forget our spiritual being and that is why we suggest five emotional resolutions you can undertake to strengthen your spirit. For our exclusive cover story, the actor Jesús Zavala shares with us how he feels after the success he had this year with La Balada de Hugo Sánchez and what projects await him for 2019. You will find this and much more on the following pages. We hope 2018 was a successful year for you and we wish 2019 will be more fruitful and productive both in your professional and personal lives.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Eduardo Soto Magaldi Harmon Hall

A group of pilgrims that had been cast away from Eng land were living in Plymouth in the dead of winter 1620. Deprived of everything that was essential, man y of them began to fall ill and die. When they witnesse d the situation, Native Americans went to them with com passion, nourished them and helped them survive. Once they had regained their energy, they taught them to work the land, fish and hunt. Twelve months later, to thank them , the pilgrims –now residents of Plymouth– offered a cele bration where they shared their food with the Native Ame ricans. Year after year the ceremony was repeated and the colonies adopted the ritual until the whole American territory partook in the annual than ksgiving. This is your year! My advice? Stop being pessimistic and believe in the good things that are coming! Mercury has taken a good-natured stance towards you: love, work and health. Everything will turn out well, don't ruin it with your negativity! Your mind is powerful and it can eclipse Mercury itself. It is up to you, Taurus! GEMINI (May 21st-Jun 20th) You have an enormous talent with which you can succeed at a thousand things and reach your dreams. But you won't get anywhere sitting in your couch! You have to get tough with yourself and squeeze the last drop of your abilities. Yes you can! Regarding health matters, you have to be careful of problems related to your lungs and nerves. CANCER (Jun 21st-Jul 20th)
2019 will be filled with trips and new experiences, especially in the months of February, May, June and September. In those months you will also have the chance to sign new working contracts. Take my hand and let's go around the world! Enjoy! The new year brings many blessings for you!

Your life as a Casanova has only given you fleeting pleasure and this year you will realize this. The time has come to reflect, to look for something more serious and deep. Love has always been there, it is only a matter of keeping your eyes wide open. In the middle of the year an opportunity will rise for you to go and live abroad, think it through before you make a rash decision.
LIBRA (Sep 23rd-Oct 22nd)
The element of your sign is air and this year it will be dominated by the Moon. That is why you will be wrapped in mysticism and you will be filled with spiritual energy. In economic matters you will grow a lot due to new projects and business endeavors. This will allow you to buy a house or an apartment before the year ends. Say goodbye to living with your parents! SCORPIO (Oct 23rd-Nov 22nd) This year brings you much calm. Work will be stable, you won't have any ups and downs in love and you won't want to complain about your finances. However, you must be careful! Don't allow yourself to fall into a routine. You have great potential and you are not a planted tree! Move! Get on your bicycle, climb a mountain, experiment in the kitchen... You will have all the time in the world, don't throw it away.

This year has been very fruitful for this young actor. In the first months of 2018, he premiered two films in which his characters provided a lot of food for thought. In La boda de Valentina, he played his family's black sheep and in Cómplices a shy boy that is able to build his self esteem. At the midyear point, Netflix launched La Balada de Hugo Sánchez; Jesús got raving reviews for his role. We discovered much more on this actor who describes himself as “a bit of a grinch” in this exclusive interview.

What have been the best decisions you have made in your life? To be faithful to what I believe in, even though sometimes people judge me. Every decision I have made has brought me to this point and I am truly grateful. I have tried to pick my projects very carefully so that they reflect who I am, I have tried to be selective and not just take anything out of desperation. I feel very happy with my achievements. I have been through everything, difficult times, being far from home, going though hardships at work, but in the end I think I have found the right path. With this new era of film and television, all the sacrifices I made were worth it.

Does loyalty exist in Club de Cuervos? Is Hugo loyal? Of course! Hugo is the most trustworthy and loyal to his boss, to his team, and to his company. Even though his boss thinks of him as a servile suck-up, he is extremely loyal to his boss; he is thankful, we should all be like him. It is a nice gift that this character has.

What did La balada de Hugo Sanchez mean for you? It was a watershed in my professional and personal life. It was the first project in which I had the lead role and with it came a lot of responsibility. First, because it was the first spin-off that Netlfix produced worldwide. Second, because I had to be faithful to the character of Hugo and all his nuances, as well as being faithful to the essence of Club de Cuervos as a show. It was a project I dove into 120%. And the reviews have been great, both from the critics and the audience. And that success has brought new projects into my life that I never thought would be offered to me.
Do you think Netlfix changed the way in which television is made? Of course it has. Since the launch of this platform, people have changed the way in which they consume entertainment. Today they can decide what, when and how to watch what they like. That has been incredible. The content they have offered to us in the last years has been great. I honestly and humbly think that Club de Cuervos contributed so that viewers in Mexico could value the content that this streaming platform offers.

If you were to travel to a desert island and you could only take 5 things, what would they be? My cell phone, my sunblock –I have a sun allergy–, something delicious to eat, and a battery to charge my phone.
Which are the 5 songs that are a must in your playlist? More than five songs, I think I shouldn’t mention genres or artists, because I like a little bit of everything. But if I had to choose, I would include “Hasta que te conocí” by Juan Gabriel, “La niña que llora en tus fiestas” by La Oreja de Van Gogh, “Don't Stop Me Now” by Queen, “Perfidia” by Javier Solís and the ‘Back to the future’ soundtrack.
If you could talk to an prominent or renownedy person, who would that be? I would have loved to sit and talk about films, terror, and suspense with Alfred Hitch cock.

Excessive work, debt, family, couple or school woes are things that can generate great stress. Maybe we can't avoid conflicts that show up in our daily lives, but we can help our minds to unburden from the hustle and bustle. Exercise is very important and beneficial for our bodies. Likewise, meditation helps you strengthen your mind. Make a habit of it!

You will tell yourself: “How is this done? It is not an easy feat”. You are right. It is not simple, but building on the love you have for yourself is in your hands. First, you have to accept yourself and forgive you for all the mistakes you have made in the past. No one is perfect and we all make mistakes. Stop reproaching yourself time and time again. The moment has come to wipe your slate clean. Second, think positive thoughts about yourself; always highlight what you like about you and not the contrary. And, above all, make constructive, not destructive remarks about yourself. And when you do, treat yourself with respect and affection. Stop saying, “I can't” and say, “I will”. Third, set aside some time for yourself and do things that you love even if you do them alone. Remember: You are important!
The mental place in which we are at ease, where nothing challenges us or requires effort from us is called our comfort zone. You could believe that everything is great in there and that everything is under control. Because this comfort zone doesn't demand anything from you it is also a zone that limits you and that prevents you from reaching your full potential. I am not saying that you should fling yourself into suffering or get rid of your present comforts. What I'm saying is that you should take a chance and reach out for that dream that you have been saving inside, because I know it's within you. I am saying you should go for it and that this is the year you can achieve it. 2019 will be the year for you!

9 1 0 2 n i r e v o c s i d to One of the most emblematic places to receive the New Year is the seashore and even though Mexico has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, this time around we recommend five extraordinary coastlines located abroad. If you want to talk about beautiful places and breathtaking sunsets, you will be hard-pressed to find a better destination than this Greek island, maybe the most famous in the whole Mediterranean. Its immaculate white houses and narrow streets will welcome you with arms wide open. And even though it is an island, it has plenty of things to offer its tourists. In Chora, the capital, you can find the Archeology Museum and the windmills. Since you have already travelled a long way to the Cyclades, you have to take a day visit to Delos, one of the most important archeological sites in Greece that is protected by UNESCO. Legend has it that it was here where Apollo was born. If your main reason for visiting Mykonos is to be on the beach, we assure you won't regret it. If you are looking to be in the middle of the hustle and bustle, you must head out to Elia, the most popular. There, you will surely find party and many sources of entertainment. You must also visit Psarou Beach, a destination visited by actors, footballers, and fashion designers. It is the place to see and be seen and its facilities are amongst the world’s best. Now, if peace and quiet is your thing, then Agrari should be your chosen destination: it is a place where you can still find the typical Greek tavern.

TRAVEL
This pair of islands are not so well known, but they have incredible weather. In the last few years, tourists have sung their praises because of their divine beaches –they have 365 of them to be precise, one for each day of the year! This is the perfect destination to unwind and forget the troubles of daily life. The peace you can breathe invites you to relax, take a good book and spend hours reading. One of the beaches you must visit is St. John: it is over one kilometer long and is set amongst crops of tropical black pineapple. The contrast between the turquoise of the sea and the green vegetation is a marvel that soothes the senses. Jolly Beach is one of the busiest beaches, but don't worry, even there you won't find crowds. People here are just having fun and enjoying the festive atmosphere to the full extent of the word.

Antigua & Barbuda
It is part of the Greater Antilles and no matter where you stay you will always be close to the shore. Your visit to this island will provide the perfect scenery to create some of the most unforgettable memories of your life. In the 587 kilometers that make its coastline you will find cliffs, caverns, bays, coves, reefs, but mainly long stretches of pure and soft white sand and crystalline waters that provide the perfect landscape to spend a series of wonderful days. Seven Mile Beach has been ranked as one of the 10 best beaches in the world and in it you will find activity day and night since some of the best restaurants, bars and nightlife on the island are located here. Another beach worth paying a visit to is Doctor Cave Beach, which can be found in Montego Bay, a protected area. This is why you pay a small entry fee, but each dollar will be worth it. Its crystal clear waters are known for their mineral content and healing powers; the setting is very peaceful and even the most prudent of swimmers will wade into the waters with confidence because of how shallow the waters are. If you are more adventurous, we recommend you head out to James Bond Beach, set in the port town of Ocho RĂos; there you will be able to enjoy a true tropical paradise where you can practice scuba diving and take a boat trip.

Bermudas This archipelago consisting of 150 islands is a British Overseas Territory. This place is one of the favorites of international personalities because of the privacy that they can enjoy while walking their quiet and unpretentious streets. Its white and pink sandy beaches and crystalline waters make a stay at the islands a true pleasure. Since they are not packed with tourists you can truly enjoy them at your ease. In the southern shores you will find the most famous spots: Warwick Park, Warwick Long Bay and Horseshoe Bay. This last spot has lots of security and a lifeguard on watch daily. You will find restaurants and bars only on the busiest beaches. If, on the other hand, you are on a romantic escapade, we suggest you bring your own picnic. The tranquil waters beckon the visitors to try their hand at scuba diving and snorkeling in the coral reefs that surround the different islands.
This Spanish destination is part of the Balearic Islands together with Mallorca and Menorca. It is considered the best known of the archipelago because of its nightlife in the cities of Ibiza and San Antonio Abad. The majority of the tourists in the island are young because of the level of the intensity of the parties. In 1999 UNESCO declared Ibiza a World Heritage site. Once you are on the island and you have enjoyed its magnificent Mediterranean beaches you must visit the fortified city of Dalt Vila to soak in the beauty of its architecture, but especially because of the tranquility you will enjoy while walking its streets paved with stones. You cannot leave Ibiza without having set foot in Es Vedrรก, an islet 400 meters high where the locals go to get reenergized. Likewise, we invite you to visit Formentera, one of the other islands in the archipelago that can only be reached via ferry or by renting a boat. Visiting this Spanish island is really a true adventure.

Here are some tips However, that is not always the promotion you have for you to succeed at getting worked so hard for.
It is important that, at least once a year, you take a course to keep yourself updated within your area of expertise. Whether you acquire many or a few skills is not important, what is important is for you to be able to put them to good use. An example of this are accountants and doctors who year after year have to bring themselves up to date about new methods of doing their jobs. Today it is urgent that you keep your knowledge up to date. If you believe you are knowledgeable enough, what you could do is learn a new language. This could open new doors for you in the company you work at.
At present, most young people are not patient. They want everything to happen quickly and they are mistaken about this. They must think that in order to get a promotion they have to get to know how the company is managed first so they can create the necessary strategies to grow inside a corporation. However, they must also talk to their immediate boss to ask to be taken into account when an internal promotion arises.

Many people in charge of a team think that the job of a leader is to shout, demand and fail to recognize the efforts of their direct reports. That is a mistake. A good leader is a person who earns the trust of their collaborators with ideas, but especially by carrying out said ideas. Besides, recognizing the effort of each person in your team –whether they have been successful in presenting a project or not– is a great way of building empathy within the team. You should recognize every day that you have learned something new. And that you know how to listen to the concerns that your teammates have and you know how to reassure them with your words.
It is always important to have the decision making people know you or at least know of you and the work you do so that when an opportunity for a promotion arises you may be considered. Many times, when there is a promotion, people ask themselves, “Why did he get the promotion if he is not that talented?”, instead of “What did he do right to get promoted?” Some people stand out because of their personality, their ideas, the way they dress, the way they talk, the quality of their work or a mix of all of these. There are people who are incredibly talented but they have a shy personality and fail to get noticed. Or, there are also people who are not that talented but that surround themselves with people who are and this makes them always reach their goals.
Constantly plan and analyze how to attain the goals that the company has in both the short and the long terms. You don't have to do grand gestures, as long as the small objectives keep being fulfilled. In time you will realize that this is where the strength of the company lies. Always put ideas that originate within your team to the test and you will stimulate the creative process in the search of results and ideal solutions.

My first impression on watching Claudia Piccoli Díaz arrive is that of an imposing person, both by her height and the seriousness with which she says hello. But, as the interview moves forward, I realize that this is an enchanting woman, with a strong personality but with a smile that lets you take a peek into her soul. When you talk to her you realize that she is a person who loves a challenge, be it big or small. Challenges motivate her to learn new things and therefore to grow in both her personal and professional life. She joined the Harmon Hall team five years ago. She started in the Academic Operations team, as a developer of academic content. Today she
is the Head of the Academic Development Area and she is responsible for all the materials and academic documents that are produced at Harmon Hall, both for the use of teachers and students. Claudia's day starts very early. She goes out for a walk as soon as she wakes up. This helps her clear her mind to plan all that she has to do at the office. Once she gets to work, she goes over her emails and meets with her team of developers, Mónica, Tere and Aglael, to check the status of their goals to make sure objectives are reached and deadlines met. When you ask her what makes her passionate about working for Harmon Hall she answers: “The possibility of making people's lives better through my work. For example, with the materials we create in the academic area we want to contribute so that teachers can become better and students can learn a second language in a fun and entertaining way. To learn a second language that will, in all likelihood, help them grow professionally and personally”. She considers herself a bold woman and she tells us that she does “things that others may not always consider sensible. In life this has made me take up very high positions of responsibility and then leave them for something that may not be as important but that represents a new challenge”. In this vein, she tells us that she identifies with daring women such as Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez and Leona Vicario, who were limited by their historical context and that, nonetheless knew how to find their independence and personality to break with the norm of their time.
