ADVANCED RED BELT

CURRICULUM The material in this guide is designed to supplement classroom training. Students should warm up properly before practicing. Techniques that require a partner should be executed with no contact unless supervised by a black belt.

Six requirements to reach 1st Degree Black Belt

SECTION I - POOMSE: KI-BON PAL-JANG

(Must also know Tae-geuk Il-jang, Tae-geuk Sam-jang, Tae-geuk Oh-jang and Tae-geuk Chil-jang) On certain motions when changing directions your feet must first come together. This will happen by sliding your left foot to your right foot (* denotes this motion) or by sliding your right foot to your left foot (** denotes this motion).

SECTION II - ONE STEP SPARRING 20-25 #20 - Spinning arm bar take down #21 - Scissors take down #22 - Shoulder grab take down #23 - Forearm hit take down #24 - SPINNING ARM LOCK TAKE DOWN

Turn left by pivoting on right foot. Step your left foot on the outside of attacker

Right hand on top of shoulder and left arm applying pressure up on elbow

SECTION IV - BOARD BREAKING: Students must demonstrate the following 1. 2. 3. 4.

BACK SPINNING KICK - standing or jumping UPPER BODY TECHNIQUE - knifehand, elbow or fist JUMPING KICK - front, axe, round house or back CREATIVE KICK - your choice of any technique

SECTION V - FREE SPARRING: Students must demonstrate two rounds of Olympic style free sparring with all gear

SECTION VI - WRITTEN EXAM: Students must pick up the written exam form at Dojang Part I - Essay: will consist of 50-250 words about your taekwondo experiences Part II - Questions: each of the five questions will be answered in a paragraph

Once a student knows all of the material in this guide, they should pick up a test form to prepare for the philosophical (written) portion of the belt exam. Students may only test with the instructors permission.
