MAKE A RING FROM A QUARTER

Dig into your change purse and turn that quarter into a unique handcrafted ring. Bring your own commemorative quarter, one that represents a special event or date. The process is easy! First, punch a hole in the center of the quarter. Next, we’ll turn the coin inside out. The faces of the coin become the top and bottom of your ring band. Once you’ve made your first ring, step up to a pre-1964 quarter that is 90 percent silver.

REPOUSSÉ: HAMMERING METAL with Jon Bledsoe

Learn the basic techniques and applications of repoussé, a metalworking technique where copper is shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a design in low relief. These ancient techniques have been used all over the world, require the simplest of tools, yet allow for great diversity in expression. Leave with a copper tile that has positive and negative relief with imagery of your choosing.
