W
ith prog roots springing from the underground of West Lothian, these boys are a good example of the type of creativity which flourishes from the overlooked parts of the world. A Torn Mind don’t so much as invoke raw feelings as bring back the ghosts of the past in music form. A hundred familiar artists come to mind when considering who to compare them to; definitely for fans of Dream Theatre, Coheed and Cambria or The Mars Volta. They seem to grasp the importance of tonality like supreme ear-gods from Page 4
the future, giving their music the pleasant listen’abililty so required by our spoiled auditory canals in this modern age of excess, the modern age capable of producing such ‘on the ball’ entertainment as this. A Torn Mind is a cake, compounded with dashes of melodic-hardcore shred and sprinkled with love and happiness. It is the sound of living in a forest, surrounded by amplifiers and traversing by log boat down a river of progress. A Torn Mind could have written the theme to Sonic the Hedgehog. Each song is like 6 or 7 different tunes whisked together. The sheer scope of influence and relate’ability with this band is astonishing and you should expect great things from them should they persevere in their quest for prog-rockery. MAY 2013 - issue (28)
The band began in 2003 playing live shows with other up and coming local musicians as well as some wellknown international acts. After a lot of work building up their perfect sound, their debut EP was released early 2010 and since then, they have been building their reputation as one of Livingston’s most reputable music groups. "Ambitious and mature musically while displaying both easy accessibility and genuine depth... The Barrowband are a 5-piece ensemble of experimental vegetable propagandists. They offer up a bizarre array of songs all aimed at promoting the value of nutrition. They have the haunting ability to stick themselves hypnotically in your mind with titles such as ‘Broccoli’, a cheerily minor ode to broccoli, for which the music video is a surreal group of Victorianesque green peace types staged around a market stall with all manner of singing, dancing fruit and veg accompanying. They have played at music festivals such as Belladrum and The Big Tent, and food festivals such as Whitstable Oyster Festival and Wakefield Rhubarb festival. Their songs feature in a DVD for primary schools along with food fact sheets, classroom activities and the like. The Barrowband typically perform around schools and family events teaching kiddy-winks the rewards of healthy dieting, which can of course be a challenge since to the undeveloped taste buds of a child, vegetables can at times be as bitterly unpleasant as a mouthful of sawdust. Nevertheless, these guys do it well and the kids seem to genuinely connect with the show. Malcolm Le Maistre, the bands lead singer and smiling farm hand looks like he could have grown the produce himself as he shakes it enthusiastically at the audience, not dissimilar to a beardless Santa Claus who has replaced his toys with vegetables like the patron saint of Atheism. Guitar player Kevin Morrison says when he met Malcolm he was ‘an old hippy living on a hill’ who had written around 200 songs about animals. He goes on to say that his hopes for the band are to hear 100,000 Glastonburians chanting ‘BROCCOLI!’ The group incorporate lute, ukulele, cello, accordion and other organic instruments into their routine. Their album launch will be at the ‘Muckle Fruit Fiesta’ on May 4th. www.thebarrowband.com

enfold have been making a name for themselves both on record and as one of the most exciting live bands that the region has thrown up for many a year. It is perhaps symptomatic that the band organised it themselves as the continued reluctance of local venues to put on a band who play their own material – let alone THREE bands with not a cover version in earshot! Their new single was launched at The Black Bull in Mid Calder. Firstly, it should be said that the venue was not particularly suited to a night of dirty rock and roll, with the white walls rendering the lights almost redundant, but the sound was tremendous, and the array of guitars on view was more like a Radiohead gig that the Page 8
backroom of a local boozer. In spite of it’s shortcomings, moshing and stage diving did take place and the rammed in, sell out crowd were served with a veritable feast of true local talent. First band on were Scotia, who served up a set of light West Coast (California!) inspired songs, laced with close harmonies, superb musicianship and the occasional heads down early Idlewild like interludes. Can’t wait to hear a cd of some of this stuff. Next up were prog foursome A Torn Mind. To my shame I must admit to have missed most of their set, so apologies for the lack of detail, but what I did see and hear was top drawer for the genre. The musicianship on display was truly awe inspiring. The expectation of a hometown gig for Penfold was palpable and they did not disappoint, with a set of quality songs that blew everyone away. The band were as tight as ever, the vocals little short of brilliant and an energy level in the performance that rarely fell below frenetic. They have a fine MAY 2013 - issue (28)
array of songs that twist and turn from the frankly joyous to an angst best reserved for youth – all with ‘singalongability’ in the finest Scottish Indie tradition – they may not have written their ‘Chelsea Dagger’ or ‘Same Jeans’ yet but they have come close with the amazing ‘Rephrase/Rewind’. All change mid set, when drummer Liam Innes swapped instruments with Steven Dunsmore and took centre stage as the band gave a remarkable performance of their single’s B-side ‘And The Beast’, one of the many highlights in a fantastic and eclectic night’s entertainment. Penfold have that ‘something’ that the majority of aspiring indie/ alternative bands do not have, and that is their own voice – all too often smothered by the need to sound like the new Alex Turner, or Damon Albarn with the generic backing band of faceless haircuts, and I hope it is only a matter of time that that voice will be heard ringing out all over the country. Exactly How It Happened The second release from Penfold is Exactly How It Happened c/w And The Beast, and is available FREE on the bands Bandcamp site. The lead track has the band in full pop indie mode with jangling feelgood guitars from Calum More and Steven Dunsmore in a tremendous battle of the riffs backed up with some sterling work from the rhythm section Liam Innes on drums and Calum Sked on bass. Thomas Fraser’s vocals continue to improve with every performance and carry a distinctive gravelly hue reminiscent of some of the great Celtic rock singers. The rabble rousing chorus is a delight, with hooky backing vocals lifting it up a notch or two. And The Beast is another proposition entirely with the stunning lead vocals coming from Liam Innes this time with Stephen Dusmore taking on drumming duties. Beautifully understated backing and a rumbling bass line flowing over some tremendous backing vocals, but the tortured lead vocal is something great to behold. The Changes featured in our ‘13 for 13’ feature at the start of the year and we managed to catch up with frontman Martin Livingstone for a chat about life & music.

GoGuide: The bands called The Changes yeh?
GoGuide: Do you still play solo shows, and is it your own stuff, covers or songs the band play?
GoGuide: Hi Martin
Martin: I don’t know, it was Andy the guitarist who came up with the name, he just texted me at half two in the afternoon one day… ‘THE CHANGES’… At firsts I thought ‘naw’ I didn’t like that, but after a couple of days….. aye it’s alright.
Martin: Hi GoGuide: You have been around the local music scene for a while now In various bands and on the solo circuit... you have a new band at the moment, what are they called and who else is in that with you? Martin: The band at the moment is the Changes, we’ve got Stewart McKeen on bass, Andrew Harrington lead guitar, John McAuley on drums and me, Martin Livingstone on lead Page 10
Martin: Yeh GoGuide: Is there any particular reason behind the name?
GoGuide: There’s no big psychological meaning behind it like there was with ’Burnout‘? (One of Martins previous bands) Martin: No… {laughs} No… Burnout was like ‘hey my my…. It’s better to BURN OUT than to fade away…’ MAY 2013 - issue (28)
Martin: I play solo, not as often… cause we’re so busy with the band… but Stuart the bass player has hurt his hand and he was out for a few weeks so I did a couple of solo shows. It’s mainly my own stuff. GoGuide: You’re very much a songwriter, with a big Catalogue of demos and self-released material out there ... How did you get into song writing In the first place? Martin: Just through a diary of poems, self-expression, quite deep… just going through a difficult time in my life and I was writing down poetry in a diary day to day and it just developed into song writing and I just bumped into the right people
along the way and just lucky to find the ability to do it. GoGuide: We first met back in the Burnout days and things seemed to be going well for you guys what happened? Martin: Burnout burnt out… Paul the guitarist left, every evolves, everyone changes and it had probably ran its course but I wasn’t ready to finish yet, I think it was five and a half years we were together, but people move on and it’s just the way it goes. GoGuide: Have you ever considered moving down south to try to make it? Martin: It’s a thought; I’m actually in the process of getting The Changes some gigs down there just now, I’ve got a contact down in Portsmouth and I’ve also looked into gigs in London and places like that but the problem with London and places like Camden and the likes of that is that you have to bring 50 people and all that kind of stuff. But I’ve done a couple of gigs in Wigan and Manchester in the past and yeh…
down south… we’re ambitious with this band, we’ve got big plans, so even abroad… we’re talking Amsterdam, Germany and that kind of thing… why not? GoGuide: What do you think the new band brings to the table? Martin: Probably a bit more ‘rocky’, a bit more mature… great ability, great desire GoGuide: Is there a ‘band feel’ to the writing process or do you tend to present the guys with a finished article? Martin: I don’t present them with a finished article, I write the songs on acoustic guitar. So its like the basic shell, the melody and the chords and all that are there and they put their parts over the top, like Andy comes up with his licks over the top, Stu comes up with his bass line, the shell of the song I write on acoustic guitar…. but we are jamming stuff at the moment so I don’t want it to be all my songs. GoGuide: Who are the bands biggest Influences?
Martin: Musical influences… quite similar in some ways... Ummm…. I don’t know… The guys in the bands are a couple of years older than me, 2 of them, and then John is a couple of years younger. John the drummer is into more rocky stuff like AC/DC and stuff like that, I’m not particularly into them. Andy is into big psychedelics, a massive Pink Floyd fan but obviously you can’t get away from The Roses and stuff like that are going to be a massive influence… and The Verve… it’s a good thing. GoGuide: Who are your biggest Influences with regards to song writing? Martin: Neil Young, Richard Ashcroft are my two main influences… Paul Weller, Gram Parsons, Stereophonics, Beach Boys, The Beatles… so many, I could go on all day… GoGuide: Which song do you think best sums up the band? Martin: ‘The Illusion’ is the big song that I enjoy in the set, because it’s just so different and out there….

psychedelic. The main set if you see us live is rocky, quite punky… with melodies as well… but The Illusion is just out on its own, it’s a big psychedelic monster… seven minutes… lots of surprises in it… pushing it as far as we can you know? GoGuide: What's on the cards from a music point of view? Any EP's Albums? Anything coming out? Martin: I recorded two albums solo early last year and I’ve got enough material to be firing albums and stuff like that but we’re going to try a different method, we’re just going to record ‘demos’, we’ve recorded 5 demos and we’re just going to use the likes of Soundcloud… there is no Page 12
point in blasting albums out at this stage you know what I mean? It’s just to ‘get demos out’ to get people listening. When the time is right all the material is there, we’ve got a lot of songs sitting there. GoGuide: Things are a lot more instant nowadays and less and less unsigned bands are going down the ‘album’ route and instead do a couple of songs every couple of months. Martin: An idea I thought of was for maybe a song a month, just record one and release one every month. In this day and age with the internet you can get it straight out to lots of people straight away. People don’t seem to listen to albums these days MAY 2013 - issue (28)
anyway because they are spoiled, they have got so much, two clicks on a phone and they can get any song they want, they’re not patient enough to listen to a whole album. GoGuide: What do you think is the best song you have written? Martin: I wouldn’t say I’ve got a ‘best song’; my ‘Favourite’ song is always the last one I’ve written. I was going through some old CD’s with some old old recordings of songs I had totally forgotten about that really sound great and I’m going to rework them and bring them back to life… but you’re always moving on, you’re always wanting to express what you’re feeling ‘just now’… I don’ know, I genuinely haven’t got
GoGuide: You have played in loads of places over the years..... Where is your best place to play? Martin: I don’t even know if it’s still a venue but I loved playing Barfly in Glasgow with Burnout, we had some great nights in there. Pivo Pivo we play there quite a lot, the weekend is brilliant in there… ummmm… The Ferry in Glasgow. The best gigs I’ve had were in Rockers (Glasgow) with Burnout back in the day were amazing, week in week out taking bus loads… total chaos… but good fun chaos. GoGuide: Those were the days?
Martin: Aye ‘those’ were the days but ‘these’ are the days well, it’s not all gone, this one is just beginning. GoGuide: What do you think of the Scottish music scene at the moment? Martin: Ummmm…. Aye it’s good, it’s pretty good… nothing outstanding for me personally but aye its good and there are some decent bands kicking about. GoGuide: Is there any local bands that you like at the moment? Martin: The Difference I like those guys, I was working in The Sound Station in Livingston and seen them coming in just as the band were
forming, they’ve obviously came on leaps and bounds, my kind of music. The Begbies, great, seen them live, local boys doing the job… aye there’s quite a few good local bands. GoGuide: You have a few charity shows coming up over the next few weeks how did you get involved with those? Martin: Just people contact you; we’re always up for playing charity gigs. ollowing up on our Mental Health Foundation feature last month we caught up with Linda Livingstone who has just started working with the organisation and is hoping to promote its cause through various local events. The first of which is a 4 band show in an Edinburgh venue which is hopefully the dry run for more local shows in the future. We chatted to Linda and her brother Martin from indie brit rock band The Changes about why the charity is so close to their hearts and what the future holds. Linda: Hi, I’m Linda and I’m Martin Livingstone’s little sister. GoGuide: Hi Linda, can you tell us a wee bit about the event that you’ve got coming up? Linda: On Friday the 19th April I’ve doing a charity event for the Metal Health Foundation with four bands. The Changes, that’s Martin’s band, Daniel Livingstone, that’s my

other brother who’s an acoustic artist. A band from Dedridge, ‘The Mowbrays’, and ‘Stanton’, an acoustic act from Edinburgh. GoGuide: And where is this going to be? Linda: The Wee Red Bar in Edinburgh. It’s at the….. Martin: Edinburgh College of Art… Linda: yeh, Edinburgh College of Art GoGuide: What time does that start? Linda: It starts at 7 o’clock. GoGuide: Is it tickets? Linda: No, pay on the door, £6. GoGuide: So what made you want to MAY 2013 - issue (28)
get involved with the Mental Health Foundation? Linda: Well, the Mental Health Foundation is a charity close to my heart, I’ve got problems myself and I wanted to get involved to show that it’s not something to be embarrassed of. GoGuide: To help raise awareness. Linda: Yeh. GoGuide: So how long have you been volunteering? Linda: Well I kind of got involved with putting gigs on with Martin and then with my background with the Mental Health Foundation (from a personal point of view) I would go onto their Facebook and read stories from other people and it was something that I wanted to
get involved in, basically to raise awareness. To let people know that it’s not anything to get embarrassed about, to have problems.
about earlier there is not really anywhere in West Lothian where we can put gigs like that on… well we’ve got Howden Park Centre.
GoGuide: It’s nothing to be ashamed of.
Martin: Howden Park Centre costs an arm and a leg.
Linda: Yeh, nothing to be ashamed of at all.
GoGuide: What about the wee place Craigsfarm?
GoGuide: So how long have you been working with the Mental Health Foundation?
Linda: I’ve looked into that and that is something I’d maybe do a couple of acoustic shoes, it’s an idea.
Linda: Well this is my first charity gig for the Mental Health Foundation but I’ve done a couple of gigs previously to build up to this and it’s not the only gig I plan on doing so this is kind of the beginning.
GoGuide: It’s a really nice place Craigsfarm, but just really, really small so more suitable for, as you said, small acoustic shows. So what would you like to see more of in West Lothian with regards to the community getting involved?
GoGuide: So you’re going to see how Friday goes and take it from there and make it a regular thing?
Linda: Music… music to me is the best healer…
Linda: Yeh definitely.
GoGuide: It’s like a release…
GoGuide: Are you going to go for different venues or stick to Edinburgh?
Linda: Yeh, and for me it’s been a big help with different things and I think there is room for it in West Lothian, there is room, but just not the support.
Linda: I do like this venue but eventually I’d like to do something in West Lothian but as we were talking

health) in a massive way, and in so many different ways. In the creative side of it, the performance side of it and just listening as well, and it’s all connected to the one thing, the music. It uplifts the soul. GoGuide: Martin, do you still write as a sort of release? Martin: Definitely. Linda: Writing is a big thing for me… I write daily. It’s more poetry than songs but that’s where Martin started. He turned his poems into songs. GoGuide: Writing things down can be a great release yeh? Martin: It’s getting to that middle ground, some people get so low, so down, that’s they can’t cope… and there are people are lucky enough that they can express themselves through music or sports or whatever, that can be their release and help bring them back to that middle ground. GoGuide: So how are you promoting Friday’s event? How can people find out information about it?
GoGuide: Someone you can relate to…
Linda: The internet, that’s where everything is nowadays, we’ve got a Facebook event and I’m promoting it on Facebook. Also a couple of internet promotion companies in Edinburgh are promoting it.
Linda: Yeh, I’ve grown up with… I was 12 when she first came out so I kind of grew up with her I suppose. GoGuide: If you were to do your own cover version of a song what would it be? Linda: I quite like the thought of doing ‘Keep’ by Radiohead. GoGuide: What’s your favourite song of Martin’s? Linda: Well he wrote a song for me and I don’t know if he named it, but I’m going to name it if he didn’t… Blueberry Hill…. And it was special, it is a great song. GoGuide: Can you tell us what it’s about? Linda: Just about me going through hard time and he wrote it for me to uplift me and it done the job. GoGuide: So it means something special to you. Linda: Yeh, definitely. Page 24
GoGuide: So are you in regular contact with the Mental Health Foundation about what you’re doing or is it all off your own back? Linda: No, I’ve been back and forward talking to a woman called Heather and she’s been great and has given me some materials for Friday, balloons posters etc. so it’s making it more exciting. Martin: We’ve got a whole pack of posters, balloons, T Shirts so we’ll get in early before the gig starts and get it up everywhere. Linda: yeh, make it look really good. Marin: See… the great thing about this event is that somebody might be going there that is struggling with mental health and they don’t know how to talk about it, or someone in their family is, and it might make them realise that you can talk to people about it, and there’s nothing MAY 2013 - issue (28)
wrong with it. A simple small event like this will create awareness, it might make someone go home and start to think about things. GoGuide: It might even encourage people to have some involvement with music, writing, playing… Linda: That’s it… Martin: Yep, self-expression, there’s no better way of helping yourself. GoGuide: So would you do anything else in the community besides music? Linda: Yeh, definitely, we were talking earlier about maybe doing a marathon, but if there was anything else locally coming up I would definitely get involved, it’s something that I want to get up and started, I think there is not enough… this might sound harsh… but people are doing a lot of different things for charities that aren’t close to home! Where I believe that they should be… GoGuide: …Charity starts at home… Linda: Yeh, exactly… definitely… so hopefully in the future there will be more things in West Lothian and I’ll definitely be first in line to get involved.

MORNING WORKOUTS I’m sure that most of us out there are would rather NOT get up at the crac k of dawn for a wee bit of exercise BUT it is in fact a good idea as there are a number of distinct benefits in getting your work out done bright and early.
CONSISTENCY
One of the commonest excuses for not exercising is time. Fitting a workout into people’s busy days can be real challeng e so making time in the morning can be the answer that a lot of people are look ing for. Committing to a morning routine leaves less room for other things to get in the way and over time you will see the benefits in your daily life. It is also prov en that morning workout people stick to their plans exercise routines more.
CARDIO
Your body naturally produces chemicals in order to wake you up in the morning , slowly increasing your heart rate etc. as it goes, hence the reason why som e people are ‘morning ’ people and othe rs aren’t, these chemicals differ from pers on to person. A morning workout actually increases the speed and levels that these chemicals are pushed out. Anyone with heart problems should, as always, consult their doctor before any exercise - morning workouts have been

found to directly affect the heart rate more than most exercise so do speak to your doctor before attempting any plans.
CRANIUM
Mental concentration and awareness can be increased for up to ten hours after a workout so doing one at night means you miss out on all that good energy. Try it in the morning and you’ll be amazed.

Tests have shown that the ideal exer cise time for weight loss is in the morning , making an early appearance at the gym will also lead to fewer cravings througho ut the day. More importantly for most is the fact that your body will also burn calo ries more efficiently and faster during the day following a workout. Throw in a good healthy diet and you’re all set.
CAPACITY
The endorphins released while exer cising improve your general mood and ener gy levels in a way that can last a long time , getting your workout done early help s you get the best from it. Hand in hand with the fact that you will get a better slee p at night due to you being in a resting state when you should be rather than juice d up after a session a few hours before. So for maximum energy capacity and efficienc y use of that stored energy get that alarm clock set and reap the rewards.

The sun is out, the heating is turned down and the windows are starting to open... it’s SPRING CLEANING TIME....!!!!! Here is our plan to help you stay on track.
DECLUTTE R
Step 1 of any spring clean-up schedule is to kick off a ‘declutter’ of your home to help prepare. Clearing your overall path will help massivly so try to get rid of all, or at least some, of those items that you have accumulated over the year that you honestly don’t use.
DUST BUST ER
Surface dust should be your first target when you kick off your spring clean, a thorough ‘sweep’ and search for any kind of dust build up is key. Forget the usual cleaning routine here and target all the areas you tend to miss.
WALL S
The next phase is one that a lot of people neglect and that is to scrub down all your walls, any surface your worried about should still be washed down lightly with water with perhaps some soap or vinegar added depending on how you think the surface will hold up. Always test the surface your about to clean in an area Page 28
WIND OWS
A good window clean will boost your energy levels if they are waning, there is nothing better than the sun (if you get any) streaming through a freshly washed window to pep you back up again. Again a vinegar and water solution will work wonders on all but the most stubborn dirt and leaves your windows sparkling. A small amount of peppermint oil added to the water is a good idea due to its natural bug deterrent qualities.
FINIS HING ON THE FLOO R
The last stage in your onslaught is hitting the floors throughout your home. Do a heavy vacuum on all your carpeted areas and consider DIY shampoo or hire a cleaner if you feel that any really need it. One of the most important areas at this stage is the bathroom floors, these really need to be scrubbed and finished off with a vinegar/water mix or a good quality off the shelf cleaner if you feel better using that. Make sure you do all the wee nooks and crannies that tend to get missed on normal cleaning rounds. Any of your wooden/tiled floors can be cleaned with a microfiber mop and our good old vinegar/water mixture, it will both disinfect and clean just as good as most cleaning products.

HEADACHES For anyone who suffers from headaches it will be all too clear that they can have a massive impact on you r daily life both at home and at work. Headaches can come an d go and be brought on by any number of things. Foo d for instance has the ability to not only bring on head aches but also to make them go away, or at least ease the pain in some way. Here is our top 5 of foo ds that are good for kee ping headaches away or for helping you cope with them.
SALAD
A lot of headaches com e from being dehydrat ed and salad is ideakl food for replacing those much needed liquids due to the high water content in its cor e ingredients. The weather might be warming up a wee bit but theres still no reason why you can’t fill yourself up with our delicious Red Lentil and Pepper Soup.
Preparation and cooking times Prep time: 30mins Cook time: 30 mins
Ingredients 2 cups of red lentils 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 large onion diced 3 shallots diced ( if you do not have this dont worry ) 4 garlic cloves chopped or crushed dried garlic 1 carrot roughly chopped 1 tin of tomatoes or 4-6 fresh chopped tomatoes 8 cups of chicken stock cube or you could use a ham hock if preffered 2/3 red peppers chopped or use frozen chopped mixed peppers 1 teaspoon ground cumin salt and pepper to add taste
Now lets get down to the nitty gritty... Grab yourself a nice big pot, soup pot or stock pot or anything you have large enough to make your soup in. Add the olive oil and place over high heat and lets begin. First thing to add is your garlic, onion and shallots if using them, and saute for 2-3 minutes untill you can smell the aroma. Now add your carrots and lentils, mix the lentils untill they are covered by the olive oil, then add the chicken stock or ham hock, add 1 tin of tomatoes or fresh tomatoes chopped, and leave to simmer for about 20 mins untill lentils are tender. Time to pop the kettle on and relax remembering to stir occasionally. The lentils should now be nice and tender after simmering for about 20 mins. Add your peppers, ( i used a few handfuls from a bag of frozen mixed sliced peppers ) 1 teaspoon of ground cumin, if you added a ham hock now you should remove from the pot. Either discard it or strip the meat and add to your pot of soup which now should be smelling amazing. After a few more minutes of boiling nicely your soup is now ready to be served. erhaps the real pulling power of Sporos is that unlike games like Temple Run, Cut The Rope or even such titles as Bejeweled that need a certain level of speedy reaction and/ or finger dexterity. Sporos relies on a wee bit of thinking, working out and sometimes a fair bit of trial and error in order to compete its levels. A Sporos level starts out with a simple board of blank cells, a set number of connectors or sporos. Your task on each level is to throw in one sporos at a time, each one with its own distinct ‘infection’ trail with the ultimate aim of infecting all the cells to complete the board . Sometimes, with only a couple of sporos at your disposal, this can quickly become a daunting task. Different sporos limit the amount of directions that can be infected by a single sporos with single lines, x forms and star shapes to allow you to complete the board . Just drag a seed on to the board and place it where you think it will achieve maximum infection spread and match your remaining seeds Page 32

to suit. Once placed, your seed will spread through its pre-defined directions until it reaches Its limits. Place your remaining seeds to infect the remaining areas. Once you have placed all your sporos if you still haven’t managed to successfully complete the board you can simply drag and drop them somewhere else until you hopefully manage to get all those suckers Infected . The problem with that Is that each time you move me your score will decrease and thus to get the highest score you need to start thinking about what sporos you want to use and where to place them .
Maybe thats all in store for Sporos II ?
Should you find yourself completely stuck you can ask for a wee bit of help in the form of hints, your stuck with a limited number but if your truly stock on a level it can sometimes be the boost you need to get you through to the next level.

Like so many other titles the area that Sporos is going to fall down on is its repetitive nature, although levels get harder its pretty much more of the same on each of the 300 levels you get access to on the FREE ver of the game. With a little more thought and imagination I’m sure that we could have seen more variety in the sporos or with things like blockers obstacles, multi board levels where one board connects to another or any number of additions. Overall though the game looks good on my tablet and is well worth a few long hours of anyones time... its not like you’ve got anything better to do? There is an upgrade available through the Experimental Lab but I’ve read that this is pretty much similar to the FREE ver with the addition of a few mutated cells and other small challenges, probably worth considering if you get through all the provided levels and still haven’t had your infection fill.

’m a Zombie fan, but at one point it seemed that every second app available for your phone or tablet had the word ‘Zombie ‘ in the title. To be honest, despite my love of our undead friends, I’m really not the right guy to be talking about a 100 miles an hour Zombie escape fest but here goes... To start with Into the Dead takes a rather manic approach to game play by kinda throwing you in at the deep end and forcing you get to grips with things pretty damn quickly .... Well, extremely quickly if your like me and don’t usually go for such an ‘active ‘ game. Your dark and scary journey begins when the helicopter your flying in crashes deep in the heart of Zombie Central, from that second you are flung headlong into the frantic action trying to avoid the hungry flesh eating hordes as you barrel
towards them at an ever Increasing rate against a crowd of Zombies that gets thicker and even move scary the longer you manage to run without getting ‘tagged’ by your Zombie friends . Graphically the game is super creepy and full of atmosphere with the main emphasis pushed squarely on the silhouetted hordes approaching, as you get closer their details Increase until you can literally see the blood dripping from their rotting teeth. . In game sound is awesome as well and does a really fine job of adding even more to the overall feel of the game. The screeching birds, the beating of your footsteps as you desperately try to escape the heaving, growling mass.... it’s intense to say the least . Controls couldn’t be simpler using the common tilt or touch methods to ‘dodge’ around and between the Zombies and aim for the various pickups that shine brightly ahead of you.

You also home the ability to purchase various tools to aid in your hopes at survival, or should I say add a few more precious seconds to the end of your oh so short life.. If Adrenalin fueled Fun of the ripping apart bodies nature is your cup of tea then jump on this title and hold tight, Its going to be a pretty bumpy ride .

ow often have you been to the pool and actually done a serious workout, this type of training should be utilised by all athletes’ not just fighters. The old saying if your swim fit your run fit does carry some weight. The fact that swimming is both aerobic and anaerobic is a great plus for a fighter, it allows you to train at Page 38

endurance sets. Swimming is a great exercise and will increase lung capacity if used properly by a fighter which obviously has benefits in the ring in relation to hydrogen conditioning, swimming also puts 25lb of pressure on the whole body when swimming and is also a weightless form of fitness. Obviously the benefits can only be reaped if the fighter can swim and is comfortable in a pool environment.

The exercises below can be changed at any time and are only a suggestion. There are many swimming aids out there from paddles to pull buoys and all can be utilised, however one of the easiest and cheapest is to wear a t-shirt and extra swim shorts during training for extra drag, however caution should be exercised and only use this extra drag every few weeks. If you don’t your body will adapt and you will require more and more clothing for drag.
Pool Circuits are probably the easiest to start with and understood so below are a few circuits to start off with.
CIRCUIT 1

You will require access to swimming widths (deep end) for this circuit and require two mats one at either side for certain exercises, ensure a warm up is conducted prior to the start.
As C1 but run between width’s, this can be done in the shallow end or at the deep end if using the deep end use an Aqua Jogger which is a blue support belt which goes around the waist and is normally used for rehabilitation work in the pool.
Swim 10 widths front crawl as fast as you can. Pull yourself out the pool and do twenty press ups, slide into the pool swim a width underwater on the opposite side conduct nineteen press ups, then repeat until you have completed the set. On completion swim 10 widths front crawl again then conduct double leg v sits as above on completion repeat the process and conduct double squat thrusts CIRCUIT 10 widths front crawl sprint Press ups 20 -1 swimming a width underneath taking 1 press up off each side 10 widths front crawl sprint Double leg v sits 20-1 swimming a width underneath taking 1 V sit off each side 10 widths front crawl sprint Double leg squat thrusts 20-1- swimming a width underneath taking one squat thrust off each width

NOTE These sessions are a suggestion, however I feel these are the better exercises a fighter should be using in the pool for conditioning, as the lungs need to be overloaded in order to increase oxygen up take.
THE FINAL CIRCUIT ***************************************** The last circuit should only be used with fighters who are competent in the water and are able to swim at a reasonable standard. Deep end access will be required and this circuit should only be attempted under the watchful eye of a partner who is also a strong swimmer. *****************************************
CIRCUIT 6 The fighter treads water with their hands for two minutes, then feet for two minutes hands in the air. kay so Dreamworks is struggling to come up with innovative ideas ever since Shrek. I’ll give them credit – this one was certainly different. If you’re not familiar with the story idea then I’ll give you a quick rundown: Page 52

know which is not going to end well. Their hunting techniques aren’t what they could be, let’s just say that. The rest of the film is about them being forced to embark on a journey and face things that they have never encountered before but with the help of Guy (Ryan Reynolds, The Proposal and Green Lantern) they slowly learn to cope in the big wide world that’s out there.
This film was interesting – that’s probably the best way to put it. For a little kid I think it would be the best film ever but from an adult’s perspective, it’s a little less entertaining. Don’t get me wrong I there were some moments that I was laughing quite a bit and I think it’s a perfect family film but I couldn’t help having a sense of Déjà vu. And that’s when I thought of another classic film by Dreamworks...Ice Age. The concept and storyline is almost exactly the
same, especially compared to the third one, the only difference is that this time they’ve used humans instead of animals. So that was a bit of a downer. But to give Dreamworks a bit of credit, some of it was absolutely ingenious! They’ve cleverly incorporated the basics of human behaviour and knowledge that kids can relate to and understand. They talk about where ideas come from and they name things in the most MAY 2013 - issue (28)
hilarious way – it was probably my favourite bit. So although parents may not enjoy this as much as they would like, don’t forget that your kid is most likely going to love and love you for letting them watch it. But don’t fret, some bits will make you chuckle!

he Evil Dead remake started so well. A dark wood. Tense music. Chasing. Ambush. Capture. An apparent innocent being immolated. Alas, the bright start was not to last – the hook was the high point of the viewing experience. From sixth gear we plummet back to first gear with a cheesy sunlit brother and sister reunion. Add in a rundown shack, an expendable gathering of cliché characters, some dense fog and the default horror tone is set. The plot ambles shakily from one unpleasant revelation to the next but there’s little to no tension. The film is all about startling with loud noises and dimly lit rooms. There are loads of other issues with this remake; clunky dialogue, continuity errors, predictability and moronic character decisions. Worst of all, the characterisation is so poorly done that there’s virtually no emotional bond to the characters. When they inevitably die due to their own stupidity, I felt no reaction other than to nod apathetically at the gruesome special effects. More than anything else, the film didn’t entertain. The original Evil Dead did. And it was funny and different, too. This remake fails in almost every way, only clinging to a vague sense of credibility thanks to a strong performance by Jane Levy as Mia. Levy pulls off possessed victim turned heroine reasonably well. Her acting was the most believable part of the entire contrived rehash. Yet, even her best efforts cannot save the film from its misguided conception and sigh inducing execution. There’s dismemberment, close combat aplenty and gallons of blood but the violence was ridiculous rather than scary. Besides, the point of horror films is to experience the thrill of fear, without any real consequences. This Evil Dead never even came close to creating that.

W
henever a movie pops up with alien or paranormal connotations I’m always eager to see a new take on the genre and to see writers, directors and actors striving to be different. Let’s face it, if you’re just going to redo someone else’s story why bother? Whatever your positions in the production chain you surely aspire to do better than those that come before you? Well, with Dark Skies those rules don’t seem to apply, there appears to be a distinct plan to follow the norm and to offer up nothing new at all in either the alien or paranormal areas and give us just a pale effort to simply ‘blend’ the edges a tad. Daniel Barrett (Josh Hamilton – mainly TV work) and wife Lacy (Keri Russell - Bedtime Stories/ August Rush) play a loving couple with a couple of kids and a bunch of headaches in the form of too many unpaid bill, relationship issues, problems communicating with their kids to name but a few. Daniel is an architect searching for a new job after being unemployed for a while and realtor Lacy struggles daily to make her quota of property sales in their suburban town due to the housing market slump. At the same time trying to raise their two sons, teenager Jesse (Dakota Goyo - Real Steel) who we soon discover had some health issues growing up, and his younger brother Sam (Kadan Rockett) With so many things not working out in their life it seems like just another inconvenience to them when weird stuff starts happening around them and their house. I have a big issue with this part of the film in that there is a load of stuff that seems to happen, don’t get explained or followed up on, and we move on to something else… they really miss an opportunity to bring us deeper into the families story with these but instead blinder head long into the next event and we rarely make mention of them again. kitchen get utilised in an elaborate sculpture which beam strange symbols on the ceiling, Lacy blacks out while doing a house viewing and it appears the people viewing with her just leave her there smashing her head through a glass patio door… we never see an explanation of what happened ‘during’ these happenings, they are just accepted. There are too many blank spots for me to get engaged with them at all and there is definitely a case for less is more with this movie. Initially things turn spooky when after a couple of strange events their youngest son Sam tells his parents about the mysterious ‘Sandman’ who has been visiting him. In an attempt to find out what has been happening at night Daniel kits the house out with a battery of security cameras which only reveal some strange interference on the cameras. One day a pile of migrating birds mysteriously decide to dive bomb the family home, again there doesn’t really seem to be much interest in this event from external sources, and it goes by with what
seems like only a couple of phone calls from experts offering possible solutions. When the family start to go through random bouts of sleep walking and trance states things seem to be getting really out of control and Lacy does some research online and finds similar incidents that have occurred with other families, all of which point to them being visited by alien forces. On speaking to alien expert Edwin Pollard (J.K. Simmons) Daniel and Lacy have their worst fears confirmed and Edwin convinces them that they are being experimented on by aliens. After some advice from Edwin they decide to take matter into their own hands and hatch a plan to stand up to their extra-terrestrial guests and cause them as much bother as possible in the hope that the aliens would ‘move on’ to someone else. Throughout the movie there are plots and ideas borrowed from various other movies in the supernatural and sci-fi arena and

somehow they manage to cheapen those movies that came before with its almost strikingly obvious conclusions. It never seems to make its mind truly up as to what it is and as is usually the case when that happens, it falters as a result. The David Boyd visuals are, I suppose, one of the better things about Dark Skies and coupled with the Joseph Bishara soundtrack it works effectively to set the scene but you can’t help but feel that there could have been so much more and the old saying ‘close but no cigar’ has to be applied here. The ending of the story hints at a follow and for now the movies report card would defo have ‘Must Try Harder’ written in bold red biro across the front page.

I
’m a sucker for a film with a good twist at the end Sixth Sense, Fight Club and Shawshank to name but a few. But what you can’t do is keep all your good stuff until the last 20 minutes and have 60 minutes of nothing much at all. That’s what I feel Side Affects gave me tonight. I was desperate for something substantial to happen to drag me in but all I got was drip fed titbits. I suppose that is the reason that some movies stand above others? Sometimes it just works, you get the balance right with just enough
meat and character to the story to keep you interested, connected and to draw you in… other times you get something like Side Affects. It’s not a bad film, it’s just not a very good one. Maybe with such a promising cast it sort of makes things a wee bit worse than they actually are. There are big names on show here but no real big performances to match. Side Affects is a Steven Soderbergh’s creation which some might find absorbing but I found it more frustrating than fun. In the movie Emily (Rooney Mara - The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) seems to be all happy about her husband Martin (Channing Tatum - 21 Jump Street) given that he has just been released from prison where he spent 4 years for insider trading. We soon find that all is not well with Emily and she suffers from MAY 2013 - issue (28)
various mental issues and is soon attending regular sessions with a psychiatrists Dr. Jonathan Banks (Jude Law - Sherlock Holmes). After pushing to be prescribed a newly advertised anti-depressant Emily one day stabs her husband Martin to death, a rather fleeting appearance from Tatum then, apparently while in a sleep walking state, she has no knowledge of the events when she awakes. So, our first twist is served up when blame begins to lean heavily against her psychiatrist, then we witness Emily’s subtle conversion from a upset caring wife to a psycho femme fatale type character, twist number two… and it goes on like that throughout, not so much in shocking revelation type style but more like how a slightly overweight and passed it heavyweight boxer does PAGE 67

in his last few fights as he telegraphs each of his ‘used to be’ killer blows. Rumoured to be Oscar winner Steven Soderbergh’s final movie I’d have thought he would have chosen a more ‘devastating’ outing and it’s no surprise that, having watched this movie, that his latest take is that he might just be going to try some “new things”, a definite hint that perhaps this isn’t his swan song after all. Soderbergh isn’t shy to make it pretty obvious that this is a homage to the classic Hitchcock style of movie making and a poke at a genre that isn’t as popular as it used to be. Mara makes a good anti heroin and plays with just the right amount of shyness with glimpses of possible madness that keeps you guessing about her but in an obvious kind of way where you pretty much know that something isn’t quite right with the whole shenanagins. It’s an understated role, much like all the others including Law, Tatum and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Overall if you’re into a night of plot twists and did she didn’t she moments then I’m sure you will enjoy this one, just not enough to make it a great movie for me. There are no enduring surprises, no real moments of wonder or any wow moments to lift the film out of the mediocrity that threatens to drown it until the final few scenes anyway.

y the 1980's Zombie movies had kinda run their course and by then there seemed to have been one movie for every possible occasion. Over the years various resurgences of the genre have seen producers turn to things like comedy with Fido (2006) end more recently with mares like Sean of the Dead and Zombieland. Now with Warm Bodies it's the turn of love, romance and teen angst although there Is still a lot of comedy on offer rather than it being just a Zombie version of Twilight. At heart It's another postapocalyptic story of the hungry dead roaming the land feasting on the remainder of the living . The Warm Bodies angle is that it
is narrated and based from the perspective of one of the zombies who finds love in the arms of the grieving girlfriend of one of his lunchtime treats. Their relationship is potentially doomed before it starts as they are firmly on opposite sides of a human dilemma, obviously leaning heavily on the classic Shakespeare play ‘Romeo and Juliet’ for its main plot lines. Given the movies story it would be difficult for it not to be linked with the old classic tale but Warm Bodies does it with lots of nice wee comic 'hat tips', things like the lead man only remembering his name as 'R' .... or 'Aaaaaaaargh ' to be exact, female lead being called Julie and there's even a balcony scene, so plenty of nods to the great man in there for you to pick up on.
well in all respects, at one point recreating a zombie attempting to copy the fluid, natural walk of humans, showing a nice element of physical acting ability. The narration also comes across well with a contemporary mocking tone.
Director Jonathan Levine, whose recent work Includes 50/50, seems content to bring his own brand of sideways humour and offbeat touches to the story and a keen eye for visuals and a nice use of the locations an offer. He also manages to get pretty fine performances from his actors. Nicholas Hoult (About a Boy) pulls off a truly great job as R and portrays his Zombie character
Warm Bodies is a smart idea and ties in two hot areas at the moment with Zombies and teen angst but brings so much more to the table than some other recent offerings and is well worth catching if you can.

Julie, Australian actress Teresa Palmer (I am number Four / Bedtime Stories), is the cute blond defender of what's left of humanity and the daughter of super cranky, anti-zombie militia leader John Malkovich (Red / Rounders / Con Air). It has been eight years since the zombie epidemic took its toll on society and most of the other humans were wiped out. Julie and her dad now live within the walls of a heavily fortified compound with groups of other human survivors.

I
like Jason Stratham, for me he has been in a few pretty good movies and has shown real promise, but to be honest if I see another movie where he plays the honest Joe criminal/gangster/semi action hero/trodden on bad guy turned good I'm going to throw my 'Monk' from Mean Machine mug right in the big grey bucket, sorry is it Blue for recycling? Mr Stratham maybe needs to Just Say No maybe a few more times when the 'action script' guy comes a knocking??? In Parker he plays, you’ve guessed it, a good guy crook that gets involved with the wrong guys, that gets wronged, that seeks revenge, that potentially finds love, and it might just turn out all right in the end…. Oh… and for some strange reason he can lose a huge amount of blood without it making him feel even the slightest wee bit woozy. The story goes that when Parked is pulled in to take part in a small time heist at a fair ground things go a little wrong, a planned fire breaks out, goes out of control and one person is left dead. To make matters worse the gang, headed by Melander played by none other than Michael Chiklis (The Sheild/The Commish/Fantastic Four), want to take their ill-gotten gains to fund a bigger job in the hope of scoring big, Parker would rather take his share and leave. This leads to him being left for dead on the side of the road while the gang makes off with his share of the loot thus setting up the basic story of the film in Parkers quest to get his money back… and maybe just to make them pay for what they done. The trail eventually leads to where the gang are thought to be holed up and planning their big score. Jennifer Lopez makes a welcome appearance at this stage as real estate agent to the stars Leslie Rodgers, who somehow is struggling to make end meet after a messy divorce. I say a welcome appearance as she is actually quite good in the role…. BUT when on screen for most of her scenes your battling your mind against the fact that her situation is completely unbelievable as the ‘pitiful spurned wife’ due mainly to the fact that she is utterly STUNNING. For J-Lo the role does not actually

include that much oomph as for most of her time on screen she seems to be in her own little sub movie and there is really only a little attempt at a connection between the characters. Parker uses Leslie to track down the crooks in the guise of a rich Texan looking for a new property to pour his money into. The hope is that he will manage to locate the house the gang are using as their base. Sure enough, eventually he finds them and needless to say there is going to be a showdown but we won’t spoil your fun by going into that in too many details. If the action sequences are where it’s really at with this movie there simply isn’t enough of them, someone needed to make a decision as to what this move was and stick to it. There just doesn’t seem to have been much stretching of the imagination, or on a few occasions far too much stretching of it. Overall the cast are pretty unexciting throughout other than there being ‘something’ about the J-Lo role that I clicked with. Everyone else could easily have been played by ANYONE else and you wouldn’t have noticed. The more I see Stratham in these roles the more I come to the conclusion that I can take him or leave him, on this occasion I’m not too impressed and if he has any hope of a Bond call-up in the future he really needs to pull his socks up.

aving been quite looking forward to this BBC mini-series since I previewed it in the magazine a few months ago l was quite annoyed when it passed under my radar completely unnoticed when it was aired on 17th, 24th and 31 and 31st March on BBC 3 .
For those who also didn’t see it and didn't catch our feature on the series earlier this year let me do a wee recap. In The Flesh is the story of how society could potentially survive a 'Zombie' plague if a vaccine was found that allowed the 'undead' to live as normal people again. Over three parts it explores the 2 main sides of the issue, that of the normal humans having to come to terms with having Zombies live among them and also from the infected’s point of view with them being integrated back into society and all the problems and prejudices that brings with it. Once I did find out that it had already aired I jumped right on to BBC iPlayer and managed to catch all 3 episodes before they stopped and watched them back to back in one sitting. Rumour has it that a second season is looking likely despite the reportedly low viewing figures which apparently started at just under a million viewers for episode 1 falling to around a quarter of a million for the final episode. Initially the program feels like MAY 2013 - issue (28)
something made in the 70's and for me the 'Zombie ' aspect of the story is really only used as a modern 'gimmick ' to rehash all the historical racist stereotypes that have been covered by a 100 other, far better, movies and TV shows over the past 30 years. I don't think that basing those problems in a ‘Zombie Holocaust’ situation is a particularly clever one, and to me it's rather an obvious element. These things have been around for ever and will probably be around for evermore and nothing new is going to really be dragged out by placing them in
a new setting bigotry, racism call it what you will. For me there is the obvious comparison with The Walking Dead, but that show only ever uses the exploitation of their zombies in fleeting glances, we know it’s there so they don’t need to rub our noses in it, and they don’t. In The Flesh seems to be choosing a more obvious approach and is throwing a lot of its eggs in that basket. Hopefully any further episodes will move away from those areas. For a Zombie based series though, In the Flesh has really very little in the way of what you would expect from a typical Zombie experience and concentrates more on the more everyday elements of fear of the unknown, small-mindedness, forgiveness, intolerance etc. in an attempt to get its messages through to us. Like i said before though, these are messages that have already been covered in numerous shows before and to be honest l was a tad disappointed that there was very little fresh areas explored throughout by newcomer Dominic Mitchell, who was discovered by the BBC writer’s initiative Northern Voices. There are also a few strange comic moment PAGE 83

during the series where it kinda flirts with it being a black comedy more than anything else, these are few and far between, so stick in my mind when they pop up and for me anyway, it was a glimmer of hope in a story that I’ve really seen before all too often. Mitchell himself hasn't ruled out more ‘In The Flesh’ and talk is rife online with regards to a possible 2nd series. The first episode began as the country was already well on the way to recovering from whatever it was that happened to bring all these people back to life, and it’s not spread through biting, which is a basis for most things in this genre. The story hasn't really touched on how and why the outbreak of hungry zombies, or should I say PDS sufferers (Partially Deceased Syndrome). There is an online group that Kieren's wacky PDS friend Amy leaves to go join. There is also the fact that we have really only

scratched the surface of the 'living among humans' element so for me anyway there is at least a lot of potential for the writer to explore some more of the story and perhaps look for more radical and as yet uncovered ideas. So what actually is the story of the first 3 hours of In The Flesh. Well, after the events of the dead rising, we first meet Kieren (Luke Newberry) as he is being processed in a government centre where they look after those affected and prepare them for returning back to normal society. Those being processed are treated with regular medication to remove their thirst for flesh, given some counselling, some bronzing moose and some contact lenses and set on their way basically. Despite the feel of the show being distinctly 70'esque it is definitely based close to present day as there is the mention of Blu-Ray's

and of course the Internet is used throughout, so I ask you ... having watched a number of movies based on the dead rising and feeding on the flesh of the living ... If it was to happen for real I'm pretty sure I'd call them 'Zombies', I don't get why in this show they are called 'Rotters' ? They do it in The Walking Dead as well where they call them anything else but zombies… just call them ZOMBIES guys…!!!! Set in the small village called Roarton, Kieren’s problems begin as soon as he arrives home with his parents and finds the place a little less welcoming than his parents had made him believe, none more so than his younger sister Jem (Harriet Cains). Jem is dead against the process of integrating the 'Rotters' back into society and is an active member of the HVF (Human Volunteer Force), a ragtag band of local people who were basically forced to get together to fight the
zombies in the face of being left without government and army support as they themselves strained to cope with the outbreak in all the major cities. We learn over time that although she can't quite come to terms and accept that her brother has returned she still cares for him and will eventually do whatever it takes to protect him. The HVF have a rather archaic approach to PDS's and even though the government has declared their area clear they still insist on carrying at their nightly patrols etc. in order to keep their village safe from the 'Southern ' caused problem. HVF leader Bill Macy, played impressively by Steve Evets, is a set in his ways, old style, man’s man who will do anything to keep 'his' people safe. Rick Macey (David Walmsley) is Bill's son who was killed while serving in Afghanistan, and Kieren's romantic interest. Missing for years Rick is eventually found in a partially dead state and is processed for return home as a PDS. This occurrence is an interesting twist and we get to see how the staunch HVF leader is forced to cope with his own flesh and blood being a 'Rotter' Rick's enlistment in the army caused Kieran to become depressed and the news that he had been killed in action pushes him over the edge and he commits suicide. His family bury him the local cemetery leading to him becoming a partially alive
person when the outbreak occurs. Events are split between present day and remembered clips of the night the dead rose, deemed 'The Rising' by the religious characters in the show. Done through mainly Kieran during random moments these segments are centred primarily around the supermarket where he and Amy are discovered on a hunting and feeding spree by his sister Jem. The villages British Legion bar and church are used throughout as the main meeting places for the anti PDS groups to spread their views and we get a glimpse into just how these things can escalate out of proportion at an alarming rate. It is the bar that also serves to give us the first sample of PDS social interaction with humans in a large scale when Rick, Kieran and Amy end up in the venue at the same time as a bunch of locals and members of the HVF. Amy's arrival on the scene does come as a pivotal section of the series and brings out a lot of the biggest 'social' moments of the 3 episodes. Her often comic outlook on her situation also brings a freshness and spirit to the show that is missed when she leaves. She pulls Kieran along with her as she treats her situation as a blessing rather than a curse and has a canny knack of appearing normal to most people, much the same as Rick does while Kieran sticks out like a sore MAY 2013 - issue (28)
thumb with his overdone bronzing moose and ginger hairdo to match, everything just seems fake about him. Amy lives life to the fullest and doesn't suffer fools gladly so she is the strong PDS force that eventually influences and shines through in Kieran in the end scenes. When Amy leaves it's a darker affair with some pivotal scenes of the story played out. Over these scenes we find out about what actually happened in the supermarket, we see Keiran and Rick’s reaction to finding ‘Rotters’ on patrol, we see Rick confronting his father in his ‘natural’ form and the effects of that. These are all powerful moment in the show and they are what it’s all been building to and for the most part you won’t be disappointed, not really overly surprised, but certainly not disappointed. I suppose the program will inevitably suffer from the comparisons to the multimillion dollar show on the other side of the pond but it really isn’t the same kettle of fish at all and despite the reservations regarding some obvious plotlines and themes I’m truly looking forward to any further episodes that make the light of day…. 57 nominations (again some I’ve never heard of!). No wonder this is such a loved TV series and the day it ends, I think I may cry.
find themselves in. This TV show has made nerds cool. It’s made Star Trek cool, it’s made comic books fashionable and it’s made intelligence something worth having.
What makes it so great? The wit, the humour, the characters and the hilarious situations they
That’s the boys at least. Before Bernadette and Amy were introduced, Penny (Kaley Cuoco, 8 Simple Rules, 2002-2005) was the

only female that appeared regularly and she brings in the sex factor, the real world knowledge and the down to earth-ness that alludes Sheldon (Jim Parsons, The Muppets, 2011). Not to forget Leonard (Johnny Galecki, Hancock, 2008) who puts up with Sheldon’s quirks, obsessions and insanity. Leonard is perhaps my favourite character simply because of his unrequited love with Penny although I think that may be changing with this new series and his pure loveableness for wanting to be normal and not seen as geeky by girls. He just such a cutie pie. Then there’s Raj (Kunal Nayyar, Brüno, 2009) and Howard (Simon Helberg, Van Wilder: Party Liaison, 2002) who have a fantastic bromance that closely borders on being entirely gay, if it wasn’t for the fact that Howard has just married. These two make a up a huge comedy element of the group what with Raj unable to speak to
women and constantly having to whisper in someone’s ear whenever Penny is present and Howard who is so desperate to have a girlfriend he comes across as super creepy but deep down they are both terrific guys, or so we want to tell ourselves. Some of my favourite moments are when Raj lets his overly feminine side come into view and he obsesses over what to eat, what to wear and his calorie intake. The final duo to mention is Amy (Mayim Bialik, Blossom, 1990) and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch, I Love You, Man, 2009). Bernadette is the perfect partner for Howard as she is totally unaware of his creepiness and the overly weird things he does whereas Amy is the female incarnation of Sheldon which to begin with becomes a huge problem for the group – I mean one Sheldon is enough right?. And her almost lesbian obsession with Penny just adds to the humour that Penny gets creeped out by this but simply plays MAY 2013 - issue (28)
along anyway. The background character Stuart (Kevin Sussman, A.I. Artificial Inteligence,2001) originally ran the comic book store where Sheldon would spend his Wednesday nights but after Howard goes to space in season six it seems that Raj needed a new buddy and Stuart was the only man for the job so it looks like the next season may include the depressed comic book store owner a little bit more, maybe this would mean he doesn’t risk being stood up by a stray cat. I love this series and I can’t wait for the new episodes due out on the 11th so if you haven’t seen it yet you should be ashamed of yourself or if your ashamed to be caught watching it then just stick it on late at night and you’ll find yourself laughing within minutes. has gone for another tactic. He is the sweet and gentle individual who would win any ladies heart but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t cheat either. No, both agents sabotage each other’s dates using the FBI to their own ends. And of course things don’t always happen so smoothly do they? But I’m not going to give the whole thing away. I was in stitches in this film. It’s sophisticated, sexy, hilarious and classy. Yeah it might be a bit of a chick flick but it’s still one for the guys, I mean there are guns and stuff involved! This one will definitely have pride of place on my DVD shelf just because it’s such a feel good movie. I think you should treat yourself, go on, go and watch this one. o you’ve already seen me praise Chris Pine and I think he’s great. This film though, is by far the sexiest he has ever been! Ah just thinking about it makes me want to watch it again! So we have two FBI agents (one American and one British) who end up dating the same girl by accident, so what do they do? In true boy catfight style, they make a bet on who will keep her. They pointlessly lay down some ground rules and then sabotage every single one in the hope that Reese Witherspoon (Legally Blonde, 2001) will choose them. Our American spy is played by none other than Chris Pine (Star Trek, 2009) and he is slick, smooth and sexy. He’s playing the game to win but he’s kind of cheating, wooing her with stuff he doesn’t know and taking full advantage of his FBI facilities to track her, bug her apartment and keep an eye on his rival. Our British spy is played by Tom Hardy and although I didn’t know who he was at first, he has done very well for himself (The Dark Knight Rises, 2012). Hardy

hero saving a bus full of kids and most important of all. You have the main star blowing tons of stuff up and shooting people all over the place. If you haven’t seen this for a while you need to check it out again. Dolph Lundgren should be a far bigger star than he is now. He still makes great films to this day and I still buy them. Yes it’s true. I am a Dolph Lundgren fan and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Now I’m off to my Lundgren anonymous meeting. I am Jack’s Inflamed Sense of Rejection.

“I still talk to God sometimes, I ask him if what I’m doing is right or wrong, I’m still waiting for an answer, and until I get one, I’ll be waiting, watching, THE GUILTY WILL BE PUNISHED!” Now that’s a line. I mean seriously add some mega violence and you have an action classic from the 80s. Yes this month sees the reissue of the mighty Dolph Lundgren in this much maligned but downright awesome version of The Punisher. Now don’t get me wrong, I can understand why a lot of people mock this film. They talk about it in hushed tones and at times try to deny its existence but it is most definitely here and all out action. I think the problem a lot of people have with this film is that it doesn’t really have anything to do with comic book bad ass The Punisher. The way to enjoy this film is to forget everything you know about the Punisher. The crazy bam from Marvel has no relevance here. You have to look at this like an 80s action film, and it is an awesome 80s action film. It has all the classic things you need for an 80s action film. The main star speaks fractured English. You have an outstanding actor (Louis Gossett Jr) playing back up to someone who although awesome, would lose badly in an acting fight with him. You have our MAY 2013 - issue (28)

(Transformers, 2007) are brilliant for what they’ve achieved here. The Director is J.J. Abrams (who directed one of the best TV Series: Alcatraz, 2012) which is so unsurprising for such a masterpiece. I’ve mentioned Pine who gives an outstanding performance in this film but I haven’t mentioned Zachary Quinto (Heroes, 2006-2010) who is a bit of a dark horse. His filmography is impressive but I didn’t recognise him at all. Quinto gives one of the best portrayals of Spock I have ever seen (it would make Sheldon Cooper very proud). To be honest, I can’t really fault this film. I think it’s original, loveable, quirky and entertaining. The sequel is due for release later this year with Benedict Cumberbatch (another fave)(BBCs Sherlock, 20102013) as the bad guy. I will definitely be giving you a review of that when it does come out. I don’t care whether sci-fi isn’t your thing (it’s not really mine) but this film is a must see, only because I think it is amazing and I can’t give you a truer opinion than your own. So take my advice and give it a whirl and who knows maybe you’ll prove me right, but if you prove me wrong and you hate it, you will just have to tell me why! Live long and prosper!

don’t think I’ve ever watched Star Trek despite the fact that my Dad got the idea of my name from one of the characters but I still know the concept and I know that Patrick Stuart was in it (X-Men, 2000). It’s debateable as to whether my knowledge has come from general knowledge or my education through the TV show The Big Bang Theory (2007-2013). I first fell in love with Chris Pine in Just My Luck (2006) and The Princess Diaries 2: The Royal Engagement (2004) – you can imagine how young I was – and I was thrilled to see him playing Kirk in this film. I wasn’t too sure what I expected from this film but it definitely wasn’t what I watched. My friend had been hounding me to watch this film for ages claiming it was the best ever and I can totally see his point. I always say that remakes or even rebooting a franchise is useless, a waste of time, that the originals are always the best but I think this one proves me wrong. The effects in the film are outstanding. The actors are amazing and the writers: Roberto Orci (Transformers, 2007) and Alex Kurtzman

and the stark semi countryside and mainly daylight shooting gives it a really fresh kinda outlook on the particular genre. Shot back in 2004, the film was written and directed by Quintessential Modern Englishman Shane Meadows (This is England / Somers Town), helped along In the writing department oh this occasion by Considine himself. The script its .eIf doesn’t really do that much forth Story, If that makes sense ? instead the story Is told in chopped up snippets from the past which to me are way too long to the detriment of the current time line characters and what’s going on. So much so that you end up without any real Compassion for any of them. But then maybe If we were to add ‘Black comedy ‘ In with the drama/thriller tags then i suppose It doesn’t matter .

ead man’s shoes is a cross between your typical American revenge film and ‘Last of The Summer Wine ‘ with its story firmly based in the hills around the Midlands. Paddy Considine (Hot Fuzz / The Bourne Ultimatum) stars as Richard, a demented ex-soldier returning home to reap vengeance on a gang of small time drug dealers, headed up by Sonny played by Gary Stretch (World Trade Center / Alexander but probably best known in the UK as a professional boxer in the 90’s). The gang years before had bullied and mistreated Richards mentally challenged younger brother Anthony (Toby Kebbell - Rocknrolla / War Horse) with tragic consequences.
Overall it’s a good film that is a change from norm and Considine does pretty well as the edge psycho soldier while the rest of the cast unfortunately remain forgettable right up until the moment they have been bumped off, no wait, even after they have been bumped off. They are severely short of any of the real personality unlike the awesome characters in This Is England. Still well worth a watch over a lot of other newer films out there .

Wearing the same jacket as so many ‘psycho’s ‘ before him (the film actually has a Taxi Driver poster in Sonny’s house along with a Scarface one) Richard terrorises the members before systematically takes out the gang members, with probably a little less finess than some of the others you might have seen. his contract that no one gets to hit him because at no point does anyone come close. I mean a Segal fight in this film goes, bad guy tries to punch but misses, bad guy tries to kick but misses, then Segal barely moves but kicks him and the guy falls down. I just expect more from my action films than that. Don’t get me wrong, Stone Cold is awesome in this film, and if it was just a film following his character and their group of black ops guys then it would have been awesome. The characters were all likeable and seemed like actual people. Segal was just a mumbling mess. On more than one occasion I had to rewind the film to find out what he said. Then I just gave up. It’s a wasted opportunity with what could have been a decent wee action film. Segal just had to go and ruin it.

hat the devil??? A film with both ‘Stone cold’ Steve Austin AND Steven Segal in it. Surely this has to be made of awesome right? Well either that or made of pants. Let’s find out which shall we. So a team of Black Ops are all set to decommission some crazy prison. While there 2 female prisoners arrive. But wait, they aren’t 2 ordinary female prisoners. If they were, this film wouldn’t have had any plot points to go on. No, one of them is wanted by some crazy guy with a small army at his disposal. So he decides it’s best to attack the prison and get them. Didn’t he realise Stone Cold and Segal were going to be there… The fool. This is a decent action film… No wait, this should have been a decent action film. It could even have one a whole lot of fun but for one thing. Steven Segal. It’s been a long time since Hard to Kill and you can really tell. While Stone Cold is running around fighting guys and hitting out witty one liners like any good action star should. Segal mumbles his way through his lines. His fight scenes are really dull. Apparently he had it in

Wheatleys third film. So far he really hasn’t let me down. This is how low budget film making should be done. It looks great, the acting is solid and the script is tight. The main characters are interesting with depth and it manages to be funny without having to hit you in the face every 5 minutes. The cast are perfect for the roles, probably due to them writing it right enough but that can often lead to a horrible performance. Tommy Wiseau anyone? This has to be one of my favourite films of the year so far. I can’t wait to see what Ben Wheatley has for us next.

ightseers you vile fiend we meet again. I say this because I tried to write a review for this beast last month but failed. No matter what I tried to write it came out like a gushing 14 year old girl. Yes it is a great film. Yes, it is exceptionally well directed by the awesome Ben Wheatley. And yes the writers/stars of the piece Steve Oram and Alice Low are so bloody good I could actually explode but there’s no need for me to go on about it is there? I mean it’s not like this is a review? No wait, it is a review? Well that’s ok then. The film follows a new couple going on a caravanning holiday which rather quickly turns into a crazy murder spree. Anyone who’s rude, or isn’t respecting the area is quickly dispatched in weird and wonderful ways in this black comedy which actually makes even dull places like a tram museum seem interesting. How good is it I hear you ask? They run over a mans head with a caravan. Yeah, you heard that right a caravan. Not often you see that now is it? film takes us back to before the X-Men were formed, back before Magneto became the enemy and back before Charles Xavier founded the school for gifted youngsters. So take al the films that we’ve been presented with so far. This one happened before any of them and its fantastically done. There were so many moments when I went ‘aaahhh I get it’. Quite a few writer’s worked on the script for this film so I won’t name them but they did such a great job. It wasn’t a simple case of coming up with a new adventure for some mutants with weird super powers but it was more about ‘how can we link it all together’, ‘how can we weave the answers into this one’ and ‘how can we reveal he answers to the unanswered questions?’
I
remember the first X-Men (2000) film coming out and I loved it. Then there was number 2, and then number three (The Last Stand, 2006) and then there was X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) so when X-Men: First Class made t to be the big screen in 2011, I was starting to get a little sick of hearing about them. Don’t get me wrong, I thought Origins was great. (I do have a soft spot for Hugh Jackman, Wolverine.) There just seemed to be too many of them.
The films builds up to his climax with pace, wit and action and even at one point I’m sat there thinking ‘how could they possibly get out of this situation?!’ But what I loved most of all was the friendship between Xavier and Magneto (who at this point is still called Erik). Throughout the whole film I know that something is going to go wrong (proven by the earlier films where Magneto is the enemy) and I’m on edge trying to guess, ‘is it this moment,’ ‘no is it this moment’, ‘what about this one’? After reviewing the film as a whole, I can’t believe it took me so long to get round to watching it. I should have been in the cinema for this one! And when I asked my mum if she’d seen it (she is a massive X-Men fan and has all the films), I couldn’t believe it when she said no! So my verdict on this film is go and watch it. Go right now and then let me know what you think, but I reckon you’ll love it.
I was finally persuaded to watch First Class (2 years later) and I was amazed! James McAvoy (The Last King of Scotland, 2006) is one of the fastest growing names in the film industry and he definitely deserves it! Not just because of how well he acts but the variety of stuff he does is just incredible. He’s not afraid to accept a role and get on with it no matter how different it is from what he’s done before and for that he deserves all the praise he can get. First Class is made up of mostly unrecognisable actors and actresses but I think that is part of its beauty. The Page 96

work. But it seems that Will plays a much more important part in the story than we realise. I don’t want to give the plot away so I’ll just leave it at that for you. The female lead that I should probably mention is Vanessa Hudgens. Since her big hit in High School Musical (2006) I’ve never particularly liked her as an actress but she does deserve credit for managing to break away from the childish association of the Disney Channel and embark on a proper acting career. I honestly thought she would annoy me throughout this whole film but to be honest I didn’t really mind her and being so preoccupied with my heartthrob Pettyfer, I noticed even less.

fter Alex Pettyfer’s debut in Stormbreaker (2006), I was unsure as to whether we’d ever see him again but against all odds he has come back time and time again and every film he appears in may not be the great blockbuster that he hopes for but they’re still films worth watching, bravo for him.
I loved this film simply because it was the complete opposite to what I was expecting. It took me a while to get round to watching it and I think I honestly chose it because of the great front cover/movie poster but I couldn’t have been more surprised by the entertainment that it provided. I’m pretty sure I laughed and cried at some point which just shows how much of a good chick flick it really is. So girlies, if you want a night in on the sofa and fancy something a bit different, get your hands on a copy of this because I guarantee you, you won’t be disappointed. Beastly is an amazing retelling of the classic Beauty and the Beast fairy tale. I would praise the director Daniel Barnz (Won’t Back Down, 2012) for his ingenious originality but the true credit lies with the author; Alex Flinn (Breathing Underwater, 2001). Taking a step away from being glued to her twin sister, Mary-Kate Olsen takes on the role of the witch that curses Kyle Kingson (Pettyfer) for being the complete jerk that he is. If that wasn’t enough, Kyle has a jerk of a father who won’t love him now that he’s hideous and amazing Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother, 2005 – 2013) plays the blind tutor, Will, that’s been employed to keep Kyle on top of his school MAY 2013 - issue (28)

atman will soon be making a return in the critically acclaimed Arkham series with Batman: Arkham Origins on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC on October 25th 2013. As the title suggests the game will be set before the events of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City and will be playing a young and unrefined Batman where he encounters a number of super villains for the first time in his crime fighting career and on the Game Informer page shows that Deathstroke will be making his first appearance in an Arkham game. Game Informer has also revealed
Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate – a separate 3DS and PS Vita title that will also launch October 25, 2013 and feature events taking place after the console game. Unlike the other Arkham games developed by Rocksteady, they will not be behind the development of Origins and instead be focusing on another project. WB Montreal will be developing the game but fortunately will have full access to Rocksteady’s modified Unreal engine. ioshock amazed fans back in 2007 with the vast underwater city of Rapture, with its fantastic storytelling and stimulating gameplay. Now taking to the skies of Colombia, fuelled by fast paced action, religion and patriotism, will Bioshock be just as successful as it was deep under water? You play as Booker Dewitt, a dept-owing private investigator that is down on his luck with a mission to retrieve a girl named Elizabeth in order to clear up one of his depts. His past is in disarray and unclear, occasionally returning to his memories that seem plagued with mystery and riddled with confusion. There is something special about Elizabeth? and she is treated in that manner, from her perspective. Caged in a huge angel-shaped tower on Monument Island, Elizabeth is protected by a monstrous, winged guardian known as the Songbird and has some connection to Zachery Comstock, the so called ‘hero of Colombia’, who is engaged in battle with an uprising revolutionary group known as the Vox Populi.

Booker may feel like a one-manarmy but Elizabeth is the secret weapon necessary for his survival as she has an ability to ‘Tear’ portals to other dimensions and to tear in things like ammo, health and other items to aid you in battle, this is why she is locked up in her tower, it’s a great power to aid Booker on the journey. A Tear is a rip in dimensional time and space, revealing an alternate event which does not exist in the current Columbian world. Every citizen of Columbia is able to see Tears, but Elizabeth is the only one capable of interacting with them. When tapping into these Tears, she is able to transport something from there to the current world. However, she does so with the possibility of losing her concentration and causing the Tear to widen, producing unpredictable results. Running out of resources happens once in a blue moon as you can basically carry as much ammunition as you want for every weapon BUT you are limited to carrying only two weapons at a time. Guns can also be upgraded at certain vendors as well as buying new ones. Booker can also harness diabolical and elemental powers through ‘Vigors’, much like the ‘Plasmids’ seen in the original BioShock, which provide you with some unique ability. These can be things like; summon a swarm crows to feast on your enemies flesh, throw fire projectiles as well as traps and summon a shield that will catch any incoming bullets or rockets then fire them back, there are a variety of powers to choose from to add a little more creativity in your battles. You can also collect Gear which will augment Booker by increasing his defence, improve his Vigor capabilities or faster reloads, it emphasises the phrase “dressed to kill”. Although you have the ability to swap from different hats and shirts, you could easily play through the game without ever equipping or MAY 2013 - issue (28)
collecting any. That said Infinite isn’t the hardest of games and once you come across your shield it pushes you towards more courageous acts of bravery as you begin to shrug off bullets rather than run for cover. The City of Colombia is a fantastically designed floating metropolis coupled together by an armada of airships, intertwined by railings. Colombia feels alive and you find the rich living the life of luxury, participating in parades and catching some sun on the beach while the rest of the citizens suffer in the slums. The luxury may well be a thin disguise but this allows Booker Dewitt to take in the attractions and get lost within the imaginative atmosphere making Colombia almost feel like a real place. Bioshock Infinite’s great features may last throughout out the game but that’s not to say that it doesn’t have its fair share oddities and quirks. The combat feels underdeveloped to a point where it can seem almost untidy. You will always know when you’re about to
get into a fight when you spot tear points for a turret or ammo that Elizabeth can open. If you’re a gamer that wants to find all the collectables, backtracking is fairly limited so missing any gear, audio logs or Vigors can be a bit of a nuisance. Bioshock Infinite may be more character driven than its predecessors but it still offers something for every player. All in it is a beautifully created world and supported by great plotting and characters. It may not be the hardest game but upon completing the game will unlock ‘1999 mode’ which will increase the difficulty spikes which is almost appropriate considering Infinite’s ending which is slightly confusing, thought provoking and pushes you firmly towards a second visit to Colombia. rom the creators of Mortal Kombat comes a fresh new fighting game and this time round we’ll be bashing around none other than the DC Superheroes and Villains themselves in ‘Injustice Gods Among Us’. This is NetherRealm’s second attempt at using DC characters after their Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe game, this time the DC characters have their own fighting to do, but will it match up to Mortal Kombat? Any fans of MK will instantly feel at home with Injustice, the combat system is pretty much the same set up, if not even easier, with a light, medium and heavy attack button. New to this series is the power button and each character has their

It seems that Injustice has looked around and taken a few good traits from other fighting games out there and it’s easier to connect combos, which for new comers to any fighting game is pretty hard to master. Also introduced is the ‘CLASH’ system, a defensive system which when done correctly will start a clash where the opponents will exchange words before sprinting towards one another and cause a massive force explosion, sounds intriguing and cool at first but when you begin to know what it’s for, it’s nothing short of a cheap way for a player to regain some health or deal some damage. There are different styles of characters to choose from, as is the norm in these type of games, Batman for instance, is more of a technical, close quarter fighter utilizing his gadgets in combat; Superman, has little combo’s but is a well-rounded basic fighter then across to the big heavy hitters like Bane and Solomon Grundy, who tend to be slow moving but can dish out the heavy damage. Instead of the ‘X-ray’ attack as seen in MK 9, Injustice has the ‘Super Move’, with the same mechanics, and unleashes major damage on your foes. Each stage has a number of items you can interact with that you can use to your advantage and also move to a complete new stage through the devastatingly cinematic ‘level transition’ which is also filled with even more objects. The story of Injustice is basically this… what if our greatest heroes became our greatest threat? not to spoil to much, but the game shows Superman as a fascist dictator that now rules the world, joined by a host of likeminded heroes and villains and the only group brave enough to stand up against him is Batman, with his own group of heroes and villains. The Story Mode may not be the longest lasting roughly 3 hours of gameplay and cinematic cut scenes but is a great story for fans of the DC Universe. Any comic fan should definitely read the Injustice comic based 5 years before the game, leading up to the events of the game and justifying why Superman has turned to the way he is. There is no shortage of game modes to go along with the Story Mode, there is Battle Mode, which actually includes another 20 different fighting modes to get into including your classic mode which is where you unlock endings for your chosen character, random fighter mode, mystical mode where each battle will grant

either a buff or de-buff to your fighter and opponent and loads more exciting modes. Like the Challenge Tower in MK 9, Injustice has S.T.A.R. Labs. Having short introduction the each character and their moves, each character will have 10 unique missions relating to them and their abilities resulting in 240 missions each of which you can gain up to 3 stars by performing certain objectives. Practice Mode is roughly the same as MK 9 but a new and handy feature is you can now tag moves to the screen so no need to constantly pause and go back into a moves list to try to learn a move you can have it right on the screen all the time. Whether playing offline or online you gain ‘XP’ throughout the game and levelling up will unlock new features for your online player card and gain what’s known as ‘Access Cards’ and ‘Armoury Keys’ which unlock secondary costumes, new battle modes and features such as illustrations and music. Multiplayer holds some new and cool features, apart from ranked matches and 1v1 there this ‘King of the Hill’, where you participate and watch a group of fighters trying to take down the ‘King’ by becoming the new king you gain extra XP for the longer you stay there. There is also ‘Survival’, same rules as KOTH but the Survivor will stay the same fighter throughout and must perform certain feats to regain health for the next fight. No real issues with online, there is the occasional lag in some matches but I was fortunate for it not to affect me as much. Injustice Gods Among Us therefore is one hell of a good fighting game, a nice touch mixing fighting styles, although some of which can be a bit overwhelming on any difficulty above medium, and the Clash system can be a nuisance but other than that it works fantastically for fighting game fans and DC fans alike. he Lost Boys is a 1987 American teen horror film starring Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Kiefer Sutherland, Jami Gertz, Corey Feldman, Dianne Wiest, Edward Herrmann, Alex Winter, Jamison Newlander, and Barnard Hughes.
The film is about two Arizona brothers who move to California and end up fighting a gang of teenage vampires. The title is a reference to the Lost Boys in J. M.
