My Other Cars are Porsches...
I
t has been a tough month for me. I have had 4 batteries fail recently, one my own fault for leaving lights on, one due to pack rats, but the others were bad batteries, even new ones less than a year old! I miss Diehards since all of the Sears Auto Centers have closed in Phoenix. Nearest ones are in Tucson. As the fall season approaches, our schedule is getting very full. There has been discussion amongst the board about conflicting events but I don’t see how we can avoid them occasionally other than planning as far in advance as possible, which we are trying to do. Our sister regions to the north and south have some great events which you should check out. There are links on our website. Phoenix Flight 42 is coming next month and should be another great event. Registration is open. All cars will be on grass, so please plan to join us even if just for display (no judging). Also, registration for our 60th Anniversary at the end of November should be up soon. Join us if you can, it will be the event of the decade! As many of you know, I have started a “Factoid” presentation at our monthly meetings, which I hope the members have been enjoying. I am starting to run out of interesting trivia about our cars so beginning in a few months I plan to start a series of short presentations on the history of Porsche from the beginning to current day. I hope you will enjoy. Finally, I am announcing that I will plan another Hot Air Tour in 2020. It will be the first weekend in October and we had 30 cars last year with a waiting list so I will try to plan for more. It was a lot of fun and very nerdy with visits to the Large Radio Telescope Array in western New Mexico, the Trinity Bomb site, the National Museum of Nuclear Science and, of course, the Balloon Fiesta mass ascension and balloon glow. It was a huge endeavor (where do you stop in the middle of Arizona with 60 people for lunch?) so I took a break this year. Planning needs to begin more than a year in advance because the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta sells out most of the hotels in Albuquerque that week. ‘Nuff said. Drive safely!

Taliesin West Tour and Social Sunday, October 20, 2019
Join your fellow club members for a special tour and social event at Taliesin West in Scottsdale. We have arranged for a special private tour for AZPCA members at this National Historic Landmark and icon of the Valley of the Sun since the 1930s. Taliesin West is one of eight Frank Lloyd Wright-designed buildings named collectively by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in July 2019.
The tour will be followed by an evening reception on the Sunset Terrace, with appetizers and beverages including wine, beer, soft drinks, and bottled water. The all-inclusive cost per person is $25. Registration is limited to 50 attendees.

Join us for a dinner celebration of our 60th Anniversary as a Region of PCA at the Phoenix Art Museum, 1625 N Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ. We will have an exciting guest speaker and a chance to see the new exhibit "Legends of Speed" (www.phxart.org/exhibition/legendsofspeed). he AZPCA is made up of a wonderful group of members. As Going Places Editor, I would like to introduce featured members, Jim and Teri Hunt. 1. When did you join PCA? We just joined in June 2019. 2. What Porsche(s) do you have? A 2001 Boxster S in Orient Red. 3. Where are you from? Minneapolis, MN 4. Family? Wife, Teri and two girls. 5. Work background or trade? I sell medical devices in Arizona and Utah. 6. What makes your car special? The color is fairly rare from what I’m told. Plus, the previous owners upgraded the wheels and tires. 7. Next upgrade? Possibly the exhaust and in a few years I’d love to get a 718 Spyder or the 981 version of the Boxster.
8. Have you personalized your car? Just a personalized licence plate and a full detail. 9. Favorite memory with a car? First drive home and I pushed it past 5K rpm. That sound! 10. Why did you buy your Porsche? I wanted a mid-engine roadster for a weekend car and something to possibly track with. After talking to several people about what car they would buy and looking at the value of the older boxsters I was hooked. It took a long time to find mine and I feel like I got an amazing deal for what I paid. I love having a manual gearbox and the connection this car gives you to the road. 11. High school nickname? The nickname for my high school was the Hornets. My nickname was Hunter. 12. Top 3 dream cars you would own? I only own two cars and drive a leased company car. Nothing special, my wife drives a Lexus 350.

2019 Board of Directors Candidates I desire the opportunity to be the Secretary of our great club. I’m a Nurse Manager, of Clinical Services Operations - Field Management for Fresenius Health Partners and oversee our field operations for the western US. As exciting as that sounds, it merely funds my true passion of my family and Porsches.
SECRETARY Jack Arnold
I’ve been a Porsche guy my entire life. From the moment I was brought home from the hospital in my father’s 356B, Porsches have been in my DNA. I’ve owned numerous 914s, a 912E, a SC, a 964, a 997C2S until my most recent 997C4S Cab, which my wife rewarded me with for losing 100lbs! I want to use my passion to give back and contribute to those who share my same passion for every car with a Porsche badge on it. I love every aspect of the PCA. I have fond memories of detailing my family’s cars before every concourse, yearly trips to Fiesta del Porsche in Santa Fe as a child, numerous autocross, DEs and club races. The people, experiences, and cars are the reason we all do this. I’m originally from a small town in western Nebraska and before relocating, was a member of the Rocky Mountain Region. The first event that my family attended when we moved to Arizona was Flight 38. My wife and I are excited to share our passion of Porsches with our kids, which luckily are still small enough to squeeze into the back seat of our 997! I believe that this passion and background would allow me to serve well on the board and collaborate with others on the board to further the great work that those before me have paved the way for.
TREASURER Andrew Grossman I moved to Valley from Chicago in 2005 with my wife and our 3 rescue dogs and we absolutely love it here. After graduating from Indiana University with an MBA in finance I spent almost 15 years as co-manager and trader for a small London-based fixed income hedge fund. Following a 20+ year Wall Street career I recently left to start a dog accessory business with my wife. I couldn’t be happier with life now. I have been interested in cars for as long as I can remember, I used to love to visit the Chicago auto show each year and dream about which car I’d someday buy. My love of Porsches started when I first laid eyes on a 959 my local dealer had on display and it was the coolest car I had ever seen. Many years later I purchased my first Porsche, a 2006 atlas grey 911 Carrera S. I then moved onto a 2010 GT3 and I joined PCA not long after in 2015. I now have a 2015 911 Turbo S and while I hope to keep and enjoy it for many years, I suspect I’ll swap it for a different 911 in the future. In my free time I enjoy hiking, traveling, playing tennis and watching college football. I hope you provide me the opportunity to serve as AZPCA treasurer for the next term.

I have spent the last 35 years working in information technologies, leading software development teams and managing budgets. I have recently retired and would like to contribute to the AZPCA’s success. I ask for your vote to allow me to contribute to the AZPCA as treasurer
Directors At Large Candidates Greg Mannion
I am seeking a two year re-election to the AZPCA Director-at-Large position. This position over the past two years has allowed me to meet and get to know many club members. I currently own a 2009 911S Cabriolet. I am in my eighth year as a member of the AZPCA and I have regularly attended club meetings, socials, breakfasts and have participated in Flight, Autocross and Driver Education events. I have also been a contributor to Going Places magazine and have attended PCA judging school. I have also served as President and in various board positions on other social and hobby club board of directors and enjoyed giving back to the communities they serve. I intend to continue to contribute to the AZPCA in a function that best serves the membership and helps to promote comradery within the club and overall PCA. I ask for your vote to allow me to continue to serve the AZPCA as a member of the Board of Directors.
Rook Younger
I am very pleased to submit my name for consideration as a director on the AZPCA Board of Directors. I served as AZPCA President for two years (2015-2016), and am very proud of our Region’s being awarded National PCA Region of the Year for 2016. I served as Vice President prior to being elected president, and am currently AZPCA Driving Tour Chair. In addition to previous service on the board of directors and planning and leading Driving Tours as Chair, I have been involved in numerous other areas in support of the club: providing editing assistance for Going Places, assisting with the club website content, creating and providing administrative support for event registration functions on the club’s registration site (MotorsportReg.com), volunteering to help with events such as Flight and the annual Holiday Party, mentoring and assisting others in event planning and execution, and participating in the many social activities, performance driving events, and other happenings we all enjoy as Porsche enthusiasts. My vision for the Arizona Region is to provide an environment where membership in the club is central to people’s enjoyment of their cars with others of like interest. As a director I will strive to make the club the best it can be for every member of the AZPCA. My working career was spent almost entirely with Salt River Project, including over 33 years in engineering and information technology. I spent six years managing a technical team which supported the e-mail system on which over 4,000 users depended to do their jobs. During much of my career my responsibilities centered on assisting others: technical training and support, mentoring, consulting, and planning, developing, and facilitating the implementation of technical solutions. After retiring from SRP I spent ten years as an employee of the Arizona Diamondbacks as a Tour Guide at Chase Field. I look forward to the opportunity to serve you as a representative on the Board of Directors. With the capable leadership of other members of the board, and the contributions of those who generously offer their time and effort as volunteers, we will have another successful year in 2020. 356 & Fall Colors Tour Saturday, October 5-2019 This is an event you will not want to miss! Pack your camera for spectacular photographic opportunities!
Join the Arizona Mountain Region on Saturday, October 5th to visit the 356 High Desert Holiday Concours in Flagstaff followed by a scenic drive to Sunset Crater and Wupatki National Monuments! The 356 High Desert Holiday is a premier event held at various venues around the country and this year it will be in Flagstaff! There are over 400 (!) 356’s registered for this event and they will be on display Saturday, October 5th, at the Little America Resort. Volunteers from our region will be assisting at the concours. What a way to start your day! Show your support for the model that helped make Porsche what it is today; let’s get as many other Porsche models as we can up there. http://highdesertholiday2019.org/
The drive will depart from the Maverik Gas Station at Fain Road and Highway 69 in Prescott Valley at 8:30 am and arriving at Little America around 10:00 am. Members from the Verde Valley/Sedona/Rim areas can join the drive at either the Burger King in Camp Verde on Highway 260 at 9 am or at the 1-17 and Highway 179 Exit to Sedona at 9:10 am. After lunch we will visit Sunset Crater and Wupatki National Monuments. There is a wonderful scenic drive between the two monuments with several places we will stop to walk around the monuments and enjoy the spectacular areas!
There is a $25. admission fee for visiting the monuments unless you have a National Park or Senior Pass for free admission. We will drive 270 miles with 4-1/2 hrs of driving time on this event, if leaving from Prescott, returning back to Prescott around 6 pm. Looks like the Arizona Diamondbacks didn’t get a wildcard spot this season, but it has still been fun cheering them on! Well, Mark and I along with our mini-labradoodle,Stella, survived our 25 day road trip to the East Coast. Needless to say it was a journey and we did hit a few bumps in the road (literally). Hence, the cover photo of our Panamera on the back of the flatbed! I didn’t have time to write an article for this month’s issue but look for it in November’s Going Places. This issue is full of great stories, articles and photos. Don’t miss out on the Taliesin West Tour this month. Salt River Canyon/Pinetop Drive by Teri Hunt
A
s the Arizona heat started to gather on the blacktop, numerous models of Porsches lined up, gleaming in the sun. With the administrative items handled, and directions given, engines began to rumble as the Porsches got ready to drive. As three separate groups of cars made their way onto the road, lots of anticipation was felt as we got underway to the Salt River Canyon. With the top down, the sun shining on us, and the wind blowing through our hair, we headed up through Superior and Globe, enjoying the feeling of being in a group of beautiful cars.
As we left our quick stop in Globe, the Salt River Canyon opened before us, full of twists and turns, and ups and downs. As our lead car accelerated, then locked in our groups’ miles per hour, we relaxed into the drive. The greenery, mountains, and rock formations were all around us as we hugged the twists and turns of the mountain pass. Looking in my side mirror, I could see the line of the cars in our group as they too went around the curves, and came up over the hills. We passed through historic Fort Apache, then through White River, finally ending up in Pinetop where we stopped for lunch. We headed into Charlie Clark’s Restaurant, one could hear different drivers talking about the drive through the canyon and the beauty that they saw. Charlie Clark’s did not let us all down, providing a delicious lunch and wonderful service. It was fun to see everyone sitting together talking about their cars, their experiences as Porsche owners, and the love they have for their cars. Some have owned a Porsche for years, and others are new owners just starting on this wonderful journey. As our group finished up lunch, we said our goodbyes and headed out to our cars. This may be the end of this day and this ride, but we Porsche owners know that there are many more to come. Now we wait for the next adventure!

Tech Tactics West 2019 Saturday, November 23 & Sunday, November 24 PCA’s annual Tech Tactics West
is a day dedicated to Porsche technical information. This event is for the casual information gatherer to the everyday Porsche mechanic.

Never Stop Driving - A better life behind the wheel, edited by Larry Webster, published, July 23 2019 by Motorbooks, Beverly, MA
D
o not be put off by the cover – there are three pictures of Porsches in the first fifteen pages.
This book is not about driving per se, but is rather a paean to owning and loving automobiles. It is a collection of anecdotes, from four different authors, about buying, owning, wrenching on, even the psychology of, as well as driving or taking trips in, automobiles. Racing, is barely mentioned. If the car is an ‘endangered species’, this book provides a rationale for why it must be rescued from extinction. The foreword refers to a car as a “four-wheeled escape pod” providing hands-on analog pursuits as a respite from the over stressed, overworked and under-slept modern world of 24-hour news cycles and digital workplaces. Throughout this book, cars are discussed as virtual beings, with character; something to be involved with., the opposite of the current trend toward selfdriving-cars, and PDK only Porsches, It describes a fading world, an antidote perhaps to a future where the driver, formerly participating actively in the travel, has become a dumb lump, just riding along. Never Stop Driving is composed of a number of very readable, personal stories of car ownership told in a direct, personal, captivating fashion. These stories of past, automotive related events, are presented in large type, helpful to ‘mature eyes. The series-of-anecdotes structure makes this a good book to read in snatches, with no requirement for keeping track of characters or continuity. There are many interesting color pictures of cars in action (everyday actions, not racing), but the pictures do not relate directly to the adjacent text.

The stories are collected in four chapters starting with “The Commitment” dealing with finding and buying a car. “Peace in the Wrenches” deals with the Zen of working on and socializing about cars. “The Joy of Driving” is more about the trips than the actual steering of the car, but the satisfaction that can be obtained by clipping the perfect apex is not ignored. The last chapter consists of four sections dealing with cars as art objects or personal expressions and ending with some personal thoughts of prominent people, from Jay Leno through Peter Egan to Bob Lutz, about the ‘last drive’ they would like to take before they, let us say, had to stop driving. These commenters also discuss the car they would most like to take on their ‘last drive’. They provide interesting descriptions that really stimulated ‘bucket list’ thoughts in this reviewer. There are four, special articles inserted in (and somewhat disrutive to the flow of), the narration. These recount personal experiences for four additional car enthusiasts, buying/selling, trouble shooting and wrenching on cars, and, by Sam Posey, drifting a race car. All in all, this book is a collection of true stories that any Porschephile can enjoy and relate to because they involve having an automobile as an integral part if one’s life. Soon, a book like this may become ‘a classic of a byegone era’ as autonomous vehicles and computer controlled engines/ transmissions eliminate, or at least minimize, the do-it-yourself aspects of both driving and maintaining/repairing automobiles. It is non-technical, not specifically Porsche, but great entertainment for any automobile enthusiast. Never Stop Driving is hardcover, with 192, 7 x 9 inch pages, printed on heavy weight matt paper, with numerous pictures, some full page. It should be available for $28.00 from your favorite bookseller (ask for it), or from motorbooks.com
Drive, She Said

almost didn’t go this year. I got the list of vehicles for journalists to drive in the annual Rocky Mountain Driving Experience (RMDE) and was grossly underwhelmed. Out of 17 vehicles, nine were either trucks or SUVs. This is the largest non-car slate I’ve seen, and I’ve been going for at least seven or eight years. What to do? Well, there WAS on the list a BMW M850i convertible … which, I must admit, might have been enough for me … as well as a Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Widebody. But then the list of non-truck or SUV vehicles took a lack of interest nose-dive. Of course, no Porsche representation. They’ve never participated, in all my years of attendance. And no Mercedes this year. Nor Audi. Nor GM. Nor Ford. It seems like these events are beginning to go the way of car shows. Are we increasingly reflecting an increasing lack of enthusiasm for all things motive? Increasing belt-tightening by the manufacturers? Well, I could ask my fellow scribes. And, hey, we were heading south from Denver, over luscious back roads that I know well. For most of the two days, we’d be going somewhere, swapping vehicles every half hour or so. With much less time to follow a boring loop around the base hotel than we’ve done in the past. Expenses were all taken care of. And then there would be the reps. The factory reps would all be there, for my never-ending game of “please confirm or deny the rumor.” Which never gets anywhere. But it’s fun to ask. IS there a new Z-car in the pipeline? The Nissan rep wouldn’t budge. Wouldn’t it be great if we had a new Supra? The Toyota rep said she tried. Why not a new WRX STi? The Subaru rep shrugged. Will Hyundai build a real sports car? I got another shrug. Oh well. There was just one thing left to do. Drive. It should be noted that not one vehicle this year had a manual gearbox. Last year there were three. It took me a few driver changes, but I did get into the Bimmer. And, wow, I hadn’t seen one in the flesh before. Compared to the 6-Series, it looked much more “of a piece,” meaning less bulbous, with less wasted space, much more emphasis on “pure sang” performance. A true new take on the old 8-Series. How did it drive? Well. I kept catching up on other vehicles. I know, no surprise. So I kept laying back, giving space, in order to have some running room, if you know what I mean, and I think you do. Playing around that way, the machine, with the 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8 making 523 hp, closed the gap in … seconds. With no turbo lag. The thing is maybe not as physics-defying as the M5 that BMW lent us last year. But it was honestly hard to tell on two-lane roads. This really is a bona fide range leader, with proportionate presence. And, with an MSRP around $130k, you could buy, what, two Bentley Continentals for the same money? Two Ferrari Portofinos? How cost-effective!
Same for the Dodge Challenger. Roughly $49k MSRP. A 6.4 liter V8 putting out 485 hp. Running 305 rubber on 20-inch rims. Fender flares and all. Do you really need a Hellcat? On the street? This has to be one of the best performance bargains on the planet today. Although, well, I’ll say it. It’s big. You really feel the mass, especially against a comparable Camaro or Mustang. It looks burly and mean. And drives the same way. Oh, it handles, more or less. But so does an X5M. For, what, half the money. On the other hand, against a Hellcat, which we’ve had the previous two years, it’s a fuel-sipping eco-device. The choice, dear driver, is up to you. A Mopar rep was at the event and, before dinner, she gave a presentation on how their performance derivatives, like the Challenger and their Mopar Ram are assembled. Turns out you order all the doodads and frou-frous you want, light bars on the truck and so on, and they take the assembled vehicles to special assembly facilities where the extra work is done, by hand, before delivery. It’s an interesting approach. This way, the aftermarket is theirs, and your cost is included in whatever financing you’re using. With a factory warranty and no need for dealer installation. It comes delivered, as you want it. A second presentation was made by the Nissan rep. on the 2020 Versa. I know. But don’t yawn. The thing was amazing. Back-up camera. Lane departure warning. Rear cross traffic alert. Rear automatic braking. Blind spot warning. Heated outside mirrors. And so on and so forth. All that stuff. Loaded. For under $20k. I think it’s safe to say the trickle-down effect of tech has trickled down, at least at Nissan. On the drive back to our base, I drove the 2020 Subaru Outback, with the Subaru rep. We had a nice, wide-ranging conversation. Turns out he handles communications for all the current Subaru products. What I found most interesting; however, is that he came to his current job from Chevrolet, where he specifically handled the Corvette. What? I know. He basically walked away from the launch of the mid-engine C-8, not long before the actual launch. I asked him why. He reminded me he now handles all of Subaru. But the Corvette launch is a once in a lifetime thing, quite possibly never to be seen again … he nodded and reminded me again that he now handles all of Subaru’s products. It was that kind of an event. He asked me how I liked the Outback. I hadn’t thought about it. It was a vehicle.

The Garage Project - Part 3
T
he garage redo was gaining steam. We had removed a massive amount of junk, gave it a nice new coat (or two) of paint and learned that Wagner Power Sprayers are a bit tricky. Painting done, it was time to turn to the floor. And after considering the options, epoxy was the only real choice. I’d put some garage epoxy paint in my race trailer a while back. It wasn’t hard. I mean the chips were a bit iffy depending on how you dispersed them by randomly throwing them across the trailer floor. There were sections with a massive amount of clumped together chips and other sections with almost none. This didn’t seem to be much of an issue until I pulled into the trailer with very hot race tires and the thicker chip clumps worked themselves loose and up into the suspension components. Hmmm, need to find a better way to epoxy a whole garage floor, not just a sixteen-foot race trailer. I hit YouTube and other home project sites to learn about DIY Epoxy projects. I learned you must prep the garage floor. Which means just sweeping it and maybe giving it a power wash is not enough. Turns out, that doesn’t really prep the floor. It might look clean, but in an older garage like ours there were stains from decades of use that needed to be removed. There are two options. (1) Acid-etching. Muriatic acid goes on the floor and is scrubbed off. I add Muriatic acid to my pool all the time; it’s not fun to work with. I imagined the risk of working with that acid over a large area like a garage. Remember the part about me not being the best painter in the world? I shuddered at the thought of me wearing a lot of that acid. (2) Diamond-etching. The best bet. Except you need access to a diamond etcher, which I didn’t. Each of these processes opens the pores in the concrete so it will accept the epoxy paint. When it came right down to it, I had to call in the pros. I called six companies and received bids. They went from a low of $1,600 from a guy that worked out of the back of his truck to over $3,400 from a company that brought glossy marketing materials and samples of the finished surface. I didn’t see much of a difference in the overall results expect for the warranty coverage. So, I called one of the more expensive companies and asked if they would price match. Turns out they’d match the price of the guy working out the back of his truck at $1600. I added a bit more bling and got an upgrade on the chip coverage. Total out the door: $1700. They told me the process could take up to two days. Turns out the crew showed up at noon and was finished by four. It’s not possible to walk on the floor for twenty-four hours or park a car on it for fortyeight hours. We cranked up the fans to help accelerate the drying process, but the one thing that we had not anticipated. The smell! OK, I may be dating myself a bit, but remember huffing? Stupid teenage boys (yes, it was mostly boys), took model airplane glue, squeezed it in a bag and then breathed it in and out of the sack. They’d get high as kites on this stuff. Until the glue companies changed the formula. Anyway, that was what we felt like for several days after the epoxy paint was put down as it takes up to thirty days for the paint to cure and during that time, we got the epoxy smell.

We were all getting a buzz. Without the paper bag. It’s better now, but our fans got a work-out for almost a month. Remember my three car-wrenching ingredients? As I mentioned, I had the tools. Torque is variable depending on who is hanging around my house and how much weight they possess. Yes, I’m talking about you Hobby Boy. Which brings us to Light. Or rather the lack thereof. I jettisoned the old terrible fluorescent lighting in place of new LED fixtures. As bad as I am around paint, I’m a genius with things like lighting fixtures. I put in a new LED fixture at the top of the stairs in less than fifteen minutes. In the garage itself I traded in old nasty with new badness – a six tube LED array. That took about an hour since it was physically large, and I had to do some fancy engineering with the wires. But when I hit the switch it was as if a star had exploded right inside my garage. Yes, there was light! Which probably now means I need more tools and torque to compensate. The last component of my garage redo had to be cabinets. Once again, the lovely Mrs. Turner and I spent hours researching online. We discovered that you can spend almost as much on custom cabinets as you can on a really nice Porsche. Maybe more. Remember my $3K budget? Custom cabinets just didn’t figure into that range at all. I called a couple of custom cabinet companies and they were nice but my budget eliminated them immediately. Nope we needed nice, but cheap. I know, you shouldn’t say cheap, it “devalues” the product. Then again, who cares about that if you find a product that’s not only cheap, but well made! Searching online we found a brand called NewAge. These are imported from China but the price, reviews and free shipping was all the impetus we needed to order a set. Oh, and a sizable discount from Costco. They arrived about a week after we ordered them and they came packaged on a tall pallet. The weight was 779 pounds, so based on weight, height and the fact that our driveway is very steep I felt confident that nobody would steal them. They come “nested” meaning that smaller cabinets are packed inside the bigger ones. The packaging was amazing. NewAge does a great job at protecting the contents. Stout cardboard edges encase the cardboard sleeves so there is little chance that even if the pallet is dinged, the cabinets are safe. It took almost a day to unpackage them and stage them in the garage. Once again, I was impressed at the quality of the materials. Even the bolts used for mounting are Grade 8 bolts (meaning they are high quality). We decided to hang the cabinets the next day. It was easy. It took me and the lovely Mrs. Turner about four hours to get everything hung and staged. It was pretty straight forward. We stood back and admired our new garage. The budget when all was said and done was closer to $4700. Not bad considering I started off with a basket case and ended up with a REALLY nice garage/ man cave. We decided to add a flat screen TV and fridge so it’s been transformed into a place I can hang out in, admire my Porsches, watch YouTube videos on how to fix my Porsches and drink cold malted beverages. All in all, not a bad adventure – inhaled paint mist, a few scrapes and really nasty air respirators later, I think we have a place our Porsches can call home. SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM The sponsorship programs were designed to allow our current and new advertisers and sponsors a simple way to choose a program that will include; digital on-line published newsletter and internet exposure opportunities all for one simple investment.

The sponsorship program has five tiers: Bronze - $250 includes one small website banner on the Events and Going Places digital magazine page of our website, rotating with other sponsors, and one eigth-page (3.5”x 2”) color or grayscale ad in the Going Places publication. Silver - $600 Includes one medium-sized website banner on the Events and Going Places digital magazine page of our website, rotating with other sponsors, and one quarter-page (3.5” x 4.75”) color or grayscale ad in the Going Places publication. Gold - $1200 Includes one medium-sized website ad on the main page of our website rotating with other sponsors, and one half-page (8” x 5”) color or grayscale ad in the Going Places publication. Titanium - $2500 Includes one large vertical ad on the front page of our website rotating with other sponsors and one full-page (8” x 10”)color or grayscale ad in the Going Places publication. Platinum - $10,000. Includes one large vertical ad on the front page of our website, an embedded video, one full-color or grayscale, full-page (8” x 10”) ad inside the front cover in the Going Places publication. It is the responsibility for each sponsor to develop and design their unique promotional ads. Sponsors must submit their own artwork electronically for ads in gif, pdf, jpeg or swf (for website ads) formats. New sponsorships will run yearly, and investment will be pro-rated for any new sponsor who commits mid-year. All website ads will be viewed only by Arizona Porsche Club members and therefore will not be accessed until the member logs into the website. The acceptance and display of advertising in this publication does not constitute an endorsement of the advertiser or product by the Porsche Club of America, Arizona Region. AZPCA reserves the right to refuse to print any ad it deems inappropriate. Sponsorships must be prepaid. Staff reserves the right to change rates upon notice at any time.
