Is it really that time already? The kids are heading back to school, you’re beginning to think about the holidays and what the New Year may hold, all the time wondering what on earth happened to the summer!
become for many, a place of refuge, support, wellness, accountability, encouragement, love and spiritual enrichment.
There is no better time to once again Fall in Love with something that you started out doing when the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Eve or to introduce your family to something brand new. I remember fondly my engagement in music programs when I was a child and not just the fun I had playing an instrument but the interaction with like-minded kids. Maybe you have similar memories you would like to rekindle? Your need may be greater. It could be health challenges or weight gain and you realize it’s time to get back in the gym. Maybe you enjoy swimming and swimming outside in the winter, or without the protection and security of qualified lifeguards raises concerns. Look no further than a place we affectionately call “the Kroc”. It has

OPPORTUNITIES FOR SERVICE Giving hope to a family in need can impact lives in immeasurable ways. We have heard countless times from people who are now working and back on their feet, or have recovered from an addiction or a major crisis in their lives, of how The Salvation Army provided hope for a better tomorrow at a time when they needed it the most. We can’t however do it alone. In fact we can’t do it at all without the generosity of people like you. You can Give Hope year round, and especially during the holiday season by being generous with your time, talents, and treasures. Giving Hope can be as simple as:
Give Your Time Be a volunteer. Opportunities for volunteerism include packing food bags for families in need, painting and general maintenance of our facilities, teaching classes at the Kroc Center and assisting in the various activities that take place every day. Individual volunteers are always needed. Groups of people can have an even greater impact. When Bible study groups, service clubs, churches, neighborhoods, businesses and even families all come together, we are able to provide even more hope to people in need.
Give Your Talent Are you a great organizer, teacher, leader or have a particular talent that could be used to provide to people in need? We need individuals to organize food drives, teach classes, plan fundraisers and join our team of advisors.
Give Your Treasure Financial gifts of all sizes make a difference. Your financial gift can put food on the table of a hungry senior, a roof over the head of a homeless mom and her children, or gas in the car of a veteran who needs to attend a doctor’s appointment. Your gift of whatever amount enables The Salvation Army to meet immediate needs as they arise.
Giving Hope is really very simple and starts with your willingness to do so. Together we can transform lives forever. Will you Give Hope?

CLIMBING SCHEDULE September - February Mondays . . . . . . . Tuesdays . . . . . . . Wednesdays . . . . . Thursdays . . . . . . Fridays . . . . . . . . . Saturdays . . . . . . . Sundays . . . . . . .
Bouldering Only 6-8:00pm 4-6:00pm 4-7:30pm 4-6:00pm 4-7:30pm 11am-4pm 1-4pm
• All Climbers must be at least 4 years old for Top Roping, 18 years old for Bouldering. • No open-toed shoes (slippers, sandals, etc.). • No wet clothing. • No child under 12 years of age can be left unattended. • No horseplay, wrestling, or intentionally dropping climbers. • No food or drink is permitted in the rock wall area (other than water). • Belay certification is required.
Belay Certification Belaying is the act of properly using the climbing rope to safeguard a climber. In the event of a fall, the belayer locks off the rope to stop the fall. Belaying is a big responsibility. If you take on the task you should be competent and alert. You should know the proper safety checks and belay signals. See Rock Wall Attendant or Fitness Manager.
Top roping is a climbing style in which a rope, used for the climber’s safety, runs from the climber’s partner. Partners, known as a “belayer,” must be Belay Certified and positioned at the foot of a route through one or more carabiners connected to an anchor system at the top of the route and back down to the climber. Ages: 4 & Up
Bouldering Bouldering is a form of rock climbing that is performed safely without the use of ropes or harnesses. It serves to build stamina, technique, and increase finger strength. While it can be done without any equipment whatsoever, most climbers use climbing shoes to help secure footholds, chalk to keep their hands dry, and bouldering crash pads to prevent injuries from falls. The sport originated as a method of training for roped climbs and mountaineering. Bouldering enables climbers to practice at a safe distance from the ground. At the Kroc, our bouldering height is 11 feet at head level, and boulderers position crash pads near the climbing wall to provide a softer landing, as well as one or more spotters to help redirect the climber towards the pads. Age: 18 & Up

Wise planning can also permit retired people to enjoy all that life has to offer and later pass on to future generations their values and resources. Special estate planning opportunities may be available, especially for seniors who own tax-burdened IRAs or other assets that can pass tax-free to charity. Our FREE booklet, 20 Timely Tips for Retirement, offers ideas on ways to maintain, even improve, your financial security and increase income in retirement while providing assistance to The Salvation Army and those it serves.
