Nothing is more practical than finding God, Than falling in Love in a quite absolute, final way. What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination, will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning, what you do with your evenings, how you spend your weekends, what you read, whom you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude. Fall in Love, stay in love, and it will decide everything. Pedro Arrupe, S.J coined the phrase Men for Others

PRODUCTION STAFF BIOS Mr. Paul Buckley ‘86 (Producer) is in his 16th year of producing shows for the GDA, after having once been a middling performer for it. He thanks Allan for returning with his genius eye for direction, Doc, Matt, Jay, Sarah and of course Meghan for being the best Co-Producer in town. Finally, He thanks his wife Monica for not only costuming the show, but also for raising and teaching the kids - she is now doing three jobs at once while I do my one. I can’t keep up with her. The way he sees it, Mr. [first name redacted, but not Patrick, James, Brendan, nor Michael] Duffy (Technical Director) very cautiously agreed to “help out” with Stage Crew last year because he knew how to build a few things from his years working as a fine artist but had never done anything associated with theater. To those running the GDA [names redacted], this meant he should become Technical Director, supervising 30 teenagers using power tools. Luckily the members of Stage Crew [names unknown] are awesome so very little supervision is required. He still does not know how to run any of the lights nor sound equipment but does know a few names of the students who do. He does know Karen’s name but she is still a complete mystery. His wife’s name is Lizzie, she too is awesome, a mystery, and a graduate of Georgetown Visitation. Fiddler on the Roof was the first production his mother, Kathy, participated in while at the College of Mount Saint Vincent, in New York City in 1969. Mr. Jay Garrick (Choreographer) is thrilled to be returning to Gonzaga this year for this amazing production of Fiddler on the Roof after assisting choreography last year for 42nd Street. Jay is currently finishing up his degree as senior Musical Theater major (BM) at The Catholic University of America. A tremendous thanks to Paul, Allan, Meghan, and everyone else involved in this production for believing and supporting these talented students as they present this wonderful musical, and a huge thanks to the casts for going on this incredible journey. I’m so proud of all you accomplish. DC AREA Theater credits include: Kennedy Center Honors, Olney Theatre Center: A Chorus Line, Adventure Theatre MTC: Big Nate, Toby’s Dinner Theatre: Spamalot, Joseph... Dreamcoat, Legally Blonde, Hairspray. EDUCATIONAL Theater credits: Sweet Charity, The Drowsy Chaperone, Finian’s Rainbow, Cabaret, On The Town, Man of La Mancha, The Enchantress. Mrs. Meghan Goldsmith (Producer) is happy to be finishing her thirteenth year as a member of the production staff. Memorable shows include Singin’ in the Rain ‘99 (her only show on the Gonzaga stage), 42nd Street ‘02, Guys and Dolls ‘06, West Side Story ‘08 and Kiss Me Kate ‘11. She is blessed beyond words by the opportunity to continue to work with such passionate and committed adults, enthusiastic and talented students, and by far the most dedicated house crew in town, and all while enjoying this beautifully renovated space. Big thanks to her husband Dan and her son Matt for being the best husband and kid she could ever ask for. Once this show is wrapped, she is excited to be able to go back to working (mostly) full time on her next big production, due out in September. Mr. Allan L’Etoile ‘73, HoF ‘12 (Director) has the best job in the world, working with young actors. He hopes they’ve had a lot of fun doing Fiddler, and he thanks, especially, his niece, Theresa, for being in lots of shows all these years.
Dr. John C. Warman ’57, THOF ’99 (Musical Director) is back for his seventy-fourth show and second Fiddler on the Roof in this historic theater. As a Gonzaga student he appeared here in the Mission Variety Shows of 1956 and 1957, and as a faculty member has been involved in the 1967 production of Oedipus Rex, three alumni revues (1996, 2006, and 2013), and sixty-eight productions of fifty-two different musicals (1968 to the present) as Associate Producer of the first four, Producer of the next forty-six, Director of sixteen, and Musical Director of all sixty-eight, piloting over 350 performances from the pit piano. He would like to thank his fellow directors Philip Rosato, Domenic Teti, Peter Hackett, J-Glenn Murray, Michael Bobbitt, Damian Didden, Tri Garraty, Allan L’Etoile, Roger Schlegel, Paul Buckley, and most especially Brother Jon King, his collaborator on twenty-five productions. Thanks also to his technical directors, choreographers, costumers, producers Paul Buckley and Meghan Goldsmith, and above all, the many hundreds of students (some now in their sixties!) who have built and performed these shows, and the many thousands of you who have been their loyal supporters. Inducted into the Gonzaga Theater Hall of Fame in 1999 as its inaugural member, Dr. Warman can be found by day teaching Greek and Latin at Gonzaga, and on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays presiding over the music of the liturgy from the organ benches of Our Lady of Victory on MacArthur Boulevard NW, Immaculate Conception on Mundell Way at 8th and N Streets NW, and Saint Mary Mother of God at 5th and H Streets NW. Ms. Sarah Frances Williams (Assistant Choreographer) is a junior musical theatre major at The Catholic University of America. She was recently seen as Carmen in Sweet Charity, Mae in The Pajama Game, and soloist in Free Cafe Cabaret at the Atlas. She has been dancing for 16 years and choreographing for 4. She is excited to have joined the GDA family this year as assistant choreographer. She wants to thank all of the students and production team for a great show! To those whom much is given, much is expected” was President John F. Kennedy’s adaptation of Luke 12:48b, which states: “Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.” Over the course of this year, dear members of Stage Crew, you have received the gift of being entrusted with much. You were provided with a top-notch facility from the generosity of our community, you have been taught how to use tools more commonly handled by experts, you learned how to read architectural drawings and construct structurally-sound buildings that not only supported the chaos of Noises Off but also detached, spun, and reformed, you learned how to work as a team within small building groups and within a large crew as a whole. Finally, because you built this entire set for Fiddler on the Roof using only recycled materials from our last show, I hope you have a better understanding that environmental concerns are important and using, reusing, re-purposing, re-appropriating, and achieving objectives with what you have at hand is important. This requires creativity and adaptability, two of the surest signs of intelligence and good stewardship, and is something you’all possess in spades. This brings us back to our original quote. You have been given much, you have learned much, and you are capable of much. Use these gifts to help other people. Join Habitat for Humanity for a build. Go on a summer service trip with campus ministry. Help your local community groups complete pressing projects. You are all now a little more useful than when we started in September. Use that usefulness to help other people. We expect it. Oh, and congratulations on an amazing year for Stage Crew! ~ Mr. Duffy
Is this the little girl I carried? Is this the little boy at play? I don't remember growing older. When did they? When did she get to be a beauty? When did he grow to be so tall? Wasn't it yesterday when they were small?

The book Field of Gourds: A Guide to Intellectual Rebellion is now available at Amazon. It is co-authored by Robert Fisher--Gonzaga Class of ’72 (and Roxy’s Dad)--and Bella the Dog, who is pictured below.
Roxy’s Dog
(You can tell Bella was a lot of help from her picture.) This is a radical book. To be “radical” is to go to the root of a problem. This book provides a toolkit for doing just that, as it romps through some big ideas on the interrelationships among science, economics, technology, politics, democracy, religion and theater. Sheila M. Trask of Clarion ForeWord Reviews states: “In lesser hands, this material could be a bit dense, but Fisher’s genuine enthusiasm for his subject is infectious. When he gets excited about applying scientific inquiry to a dance performance, for instance, readers will be curious too.”
Roxy--break a leg!!! Dad
Jackie G While living four years at Gonzaga you found a way To participate all eight semesters in the GDA. You hammered the nails and painted the scenery And managed stage left (with aplomb) even though you were green(ery)! As you turned your attention to pursuing Gonzaga’s wondrous treasures Studies, retreats, golf, film and percussion became your endeavors. All the while, you continued to find an abode in the GDA too! Opening doors, seating patrons, your new home in GDA: House Crew!!! Because you gave of your heart at each and every undertaking, A lifelong love of Gonzaga and lasting friendships you were making. So, as your time on Eye Street is winding down And it does look like you are college bound, Your story will continue, for goodness sake Deep in the woods in that Forest called Wake!!!

BIOS Aaron Aranza (Stage Crew) is a Gonzaga freshman who is new to stage crew. Besides keeping up his 4.12 GPA, Aaron enjoys hiking and the Walking Dead. Gabriella Barbuto (Hodel) cannot believe that after 7 productions she has to kiss the stage goodbye. First thanks go to Uncle Allan for the many leads and for believing in her. After seeing her irst GDA show in 1999, Gabriella never thought she’d be here. Thanks to God, Family, PBuckles, Muf in, Doc, Aunt Cindy, Leen, Teesa, Nate, TBS, 4yearSeniors, and GDA legends for the inspiration. Final thanks to Fr. Novotny for being her guardian angel. Although she has to leave the stage for now, she is never truly “Far From the Home She Loves.” AMDG. Leah Barteldes (Villager) is a junior at Holy Cross. She is excited to be in a Gonzaga show and thanks GDA and her family for supporting her. Emma Belanger (Stage Crew) is a junior at Holy Cross and she is very excited to be a part of stage crew for the irst time! This is Nicholas Bennett’s (Assistant Light Manager) 6th show at Gonzaga. He would like the group that gets the least attention in the GDA, the Actors. Without them, Stage Crew would not be the same. While it’s a job nobody wants to do, having actors is a requirement for having Stage Crew, and these ine men and women have decided to bite the bullet and tough it out so the Stage Crew can shine. Derrell Bouknight (Stage Crew) is a junior participating in his sixth GDA show. Along with constructing houses and measuring plywood, he’s a writer for dcsportsfan.com and the Washington Post (check him out). He’d like to acknowledge his fellow SCREW members and everyone involved in the show, especially the seniors. Thank you all for supporting the show. Tommy Boyce (Villager) is a freshman at Gonzaga. This is his irst show. He would like to thank his family for always being there for him. Patrick Brockwell (Usher) is on house crew, involved in his 2nd show, he doesn’t know if he should write this, he fell off the Warman Stage a few times, and has a brother with a sassy attitude (Harrison ‘13). Jody Briggs (Villager) is thrilled to be in Fidder. This is her irst Gonzaga production. She’d like to thank everyone for putting up with her antics. Madeline Brown (Woman) is a sophomore at the Academy of the Holy Cross. She is happy to be participating in her 2nd production with GDA. She wishes the cast and crew the best of luck! Peter Brown (Villager) is excited to be a part of his irst show with the GDA! He thanks his parents for everything they did to help the show! Colin Bruckwick (Villager) is a freshman in his his irst show. He is thankful for making the cut. Liam Burke (Stage Crew) is a sophomore at Gonzaga and happy to be a part of the show. He would like to thank Mr. Duffy for this one of a kind experience. Paul Campion (Assistant House Manager) is starring in his 6th show as assistant house manager. He thinks the GDA is pretty cool and would like you to have a pleasant time at the show. Shout out to Theresa and the New York crew, his main man John, and the rest of the ninjas. Go mommy!
Reno Carlitti (Villager), a member of the class of 2015, is excited to be a part of Fiddler on the Roof. This is his third show working with the GDA and he enjoys the performing arts. Stephen Cekuta (House Manager) is fearlessly leading House Crew in his 8th GDA production. He is sad to be leaving House Crew but knows he is leaving the GDA and Mr. Buckley in the capable hands of his assistants. John and Paul, don’t mess up, keep running train. Bobby Cento (Drums) is a senior and is happy to be part of this amazing production and play drums alongside Doc Warman. This is Brian Claeys’ (Avram) sixth show with the GDA. Obviously shout-outs to the Cratchit Family and the clique, but Brian would also like to thank his family, Doc, Mr. L’Etoile, Mr. Buckley, and Mrs. Goldsmith.
