Jim Jacobs (Book, Music and Lyrics). Jacobs, who created Grease (in 1970) with Warren Casey, was born and raised on the mean streets of Chicago’s far northwest side. During the golden era of rock ‘n’ roll (1956-196) he was a guitar-playing “greaser” student at Taft High School. In 1963, Jacobs met Warren Casey when they were both cast in a local theatre production of A Shot in the Dark. Seven years late they wrote what was to become one of the greatest musicals of all time. Grease opened in 1971 in a former trolley barn called the Kingston Mines Theatre in Chicago. A year later, Grease made it to Broadway and “Greasemania” took off, resulting in one of the longest running shows in Broadway history. The 1978 movie became and remains the highest grosing movie musical of all time. Originally an actor, Jacobs has been seen on television, in motion pictures, regional theatre, national tours, and on Broadway. He is the co-author of several other plays and musicals including Island of Lost Oceds, a musical spoof of the low budget sci-fi-/horror/jungle movies of the 1950s, which he wrote with Warren Casey. In May 2014, Mr. Jacobs was presented with an honorary doctorate degree from Colombia College in Chicago. He currently resides in Southern California and remains active in the theatre, especially with the American Theatre Company of Chicago. Warren Casey (Author, Composer and Lyricist) was born in Yonkers, New York, and attended Syracuse University. During the late ‘50s, he learned all about “greasers” while working as an art teacher in upstate New York. He moved to Chicago in 1962, where he hoped to pursue an acting career. He appeared in dozens of productions, including creating the role of Bernie Litko in David Mamet’s Sexual Perversity in Chicago. He supported himself with jobs in retail, including working as an assistant manager of a chain of apparel stores, and as a record salesman. In the meantime, he taught himself how to play the guitar and began writing songs. Mr. Casey acted with the Chicago Stage Guild (where he met Jim Jacobs), the Old Town Players, and the Kinston Mines Theatre. The latter company staged the original production of Grease which he wrote with Jim Jacobs. After the incredible success of both the musical and the movie, the two collaborated on Island of Lost Coeds, a musical satire of the B-movies of the 1950s. Mr. Casey died in 1988. For many years kids have asked Mr. Paul Buckley ‘86, HoF ‘16 (Producer) and the production team to do Grease, and he is glad we finally relented. The kids have been a joy to work with on this production, the 45th (give or take) that Mr B has produced for the GDA over the past 21 years. He is forever indebted to his amazing production team -Meghan, Allan, Jonathan, Marika and Sarah - who made it through another show with friendships still intact. He thanks his seniors (and their parents) for the many years of devotion and dedication to the GDA. Finally, he thanks his wife Monica and his kids for keeping the energy up at home, even when he had none. And he can’t wait until this show closes when he can see his own kids perform in their show, and maybe next year his son Anthony will be a part of this???
Ms. Marika Countouris (Musical Director) very excited to be back for her fifth year at the GDA! She has a BM from The Catholic University of America and currently serves as the Choral Arts Director at Georgetown Visitation. Some of Marika’s music directing credits include: Constellation: Aida; Monumental: Brooklyn and Montgomery; Redhouse Theatre: Peter and the Starcatcher; Montgomery College: Urinetown and Mr. Burns: A Post Electric Play; Woodrow Wilson High School: Legally Blonde; Gonzaga Dramatic Association: Grease, Beauty & The Beast, Curtains, Peter and the Star Catcher, Hairspray and Godspell. MC Summer Dinner Theater: Sister Act, Into the Woods, and Catch Me If You Can. Next up, Marika is music directing Daddy Long Legs and Be More Chill with Monumental Theatre Company. Mrs. Meghan Goldsmith, HoF ‘18 (Producer) is in her 18th season as a member of the production staff an is thrilled as always to get another production up on its feet. Memorable shows include Singin’ in the Rain ‘99, 42nd Street ‘02, Guys and Dolls ‘06, West Side Story ‘08, Kiss Me Kate ‘11 and Fiddler ‘14. Thank you to Paul, Allan, Jonathan Marika and Sarah for being wonderful colleagues, creators and friends, and congratulations to the cast and crews, especially the seniors, on a job very well done. Love and thanks to her amazing husband Dan for his support and delicious dinners, and to Matt and Katie for being such happy, awesome kids -- thanks for sharing Mommy with the big kids for a little while. Mr. Allan L’Etoile ‘73, HoF ‘12 (Director) has been directed shows at Gonzaga since 1997. He loves working with the students in the cast and crew, even the students in house crew, and he finds the work most enjoyable when he sees th ekids make something wonderful on the stage for each other and for the audience. He thanks his wife, Marie, for agreeing to let him spend long hours away from home each year taking on this fun work. Mr. Jonathan Spencer (Technical Director) is a native of Fairfax, VA and a graduate of the Art Institute of Washington. He is enjoying his second year as the GDA Technical Director after having recently worked as the Technical Director for Summit School in Winston-Salem, NC and as the co-owner of the live music venue, Turntable, in Jamestown, NC. Ms. Sarah Frances Williams (Choreographer) is excited to be back at GDA for her 5th show as choreographer. Sarah Frances is an actor, choreographer, director, production manager, and teacher in the DMV. She graduated from The Catholic University of America for Musical Theatre. Previous GDA shows are Beauty and the Beast, Footloose, Fiddler on the Roof and Hairspray. Previous performing credits include Beauty and the Beast, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Saturday Night Fever, Urinetown, and more. She is the Production Manager for local theatre company Monumental Theatre Co.Up next for Sarah Frances is teaching 1st grade at Holy Trinity School in Georgetown and a staged reading of Flip Flop: A New Musical. For Mom and Dad always.

Eleanor Bender (Ensemble) is overjoyed to be in her second GDA production! In Grease, she is part of the ensemble and an extreme swing dancer. She is a sophomore at St. John’s College High School and she refuses to discuss the sensitive topic of the SJC vs. Gonzaga football game…and basketball game. Mary Ashleigh Berg (Ensemble) is very excited to be in her first GDA production. She looks forward to being in more productions and meet many more amazing people. Long live the batons! Coleman Bunn (Burger Palace Boy/Coach Calhoun): “Attention, Attention, Atencion! Coach Calhoun wants to let you know that the GDA has some big games these next couple of weekends. Spread the word to your friends and tell them to bring the ruckus!” Razjae Burton (Ensemble) is a senior here at Gonzaga. He is very delighted to be part of his first and final show at Gonzaga. What a way to go out. He would like to thank Mr. L’Etoile, Sarah, Marika, Mrs. Notarianni and others for all of their hard work. Ben Campion (Danny Zuko), a junior in his fourth show, is elated to play a braggadocious leader of a hapless gang. He feels qualified for this role because of his infatuation with his hair and special affinity for mirrors. William Carmody (Stage Crew), who is a freshman at Gonzaga, is thrilled to be in his second show with stage crew. Thomas Carney (Stage Left Manager) is excited for his fourth GDA production. This is his first show as a manager. He would like to thank his parents for supporting him and Andrew Farabow for having faith in him. Lucy Carter (Ensemble) is elated to take part in Grease, her first GDA production! She has loved every moment of it and wants to give a big shout out to her family and all the friends she has made during her time in GDA! Christopher Cowardin (Ensemble) is overjoyed to be in his sixth GDA production. Like in all his bios, he would like to thank everyone that helped make this production a hit. He would also like to thank his parents for their support. He is probably right now as you are reading this, writing his English paper due in three days and would like to say that he hopes you enjoy the show. Kiera Dent (Ensemble) has had a groovy time working on this production. She would like to thank Starbucks as the only thing that has gotten her this far and the endless amounts of piping tea that keep her entertained. This is Daniel Diaz’s (Stage crew) first time being on stage crew for a GDA production. He is very tired but has enjoyed all the work that has been put in behind the scenes to help this production go smoothly and he hopes audiences enjoy the show. Collin Dent (House Manager) is absolutely jazzed about returning as House Manager, now having seized full control and formally crowning himself King of the House. It is the most sincere desire of myself and my dutiful subjects that you, our esteemed guests, enjoy the show.
Ebou Omar Dibba (Ensemble) is a freshman in his second GDA production. He hopes to be part of the GDA community throughout the entirety of his high school career. Hannah Dimas (Cha-Cha Digregorio) is ecstatic to be in her second Gonzaga musical! She feels blessed to be part of this wonderful GDA family. She wants to thank her family and friends for their love and support. Michael Donodeo (Drums) is a junior at Gonzaga who is drumming in the pit for this year’s production of Grease. He plays in a rock band called Crown Jewel, which occasionally practices. He also asks that his mother does not do the hand jive. Seriously, don’t. Emma Dowd (Costumes/Makeup) is a freshman at Stone Ridge and after attending many Gonzaga shows is thrilled to be helping with costumes and makeup for Grease! Matthew Dukes (Stage Crew) is excited to be a part of the stage crew in Grease! He would like to thank the GDA community for everything they’ve done for this show and hopes you enjoy the show! Giving stage crew a shot was one of Andrew Farabow’s (Stage Manager) best decisions and he has made some great friends since. He is thrilled to be finishing up his term in the GDA with Grease and wishes his successors the best of luck. Addie Fielding (Ensemble) is very excited for the show and has loved being a part of the GDA this year! Joseph Fondriest (Light Manager) is a second semester with as much motivation as God on the 7th day. Like God, Joseph says “let there be light” and light is created. He hopes you enjoy the show, but mainly the lighting. Patricio Fraga-Errecart (Johnny Casino) is incredibly grateful to be a part of Grease. From mollusk to show person, to Johnny Casino, he is glad he had the opportunity to meet such amazing people through the GDA. He hopes to continue singing unnecessarily after he graduates from Gonzaga. Andrew Gans (Loft Manager) is excited to be returning for his 4th show on stage crew, and 2nd show as Loft Manager. He would like to thank his parents, Andrew Metro, James Walutes and Alex Ballestero. If anything goes wrong, it’s definitely not his fault. Matthew Gately (Ensemble) is a sophomore at Gonzaga and this is his fourth show. Audrey Gino-Saliba (Stage Crew) is a junior at Stone Ridge and Grease is her first show with the GDA. She is excited to be a part of the production and hopes you enjoy the show. Joseph Giuliani (Assistant Light Manager) is thrilled to run lights in his 4th production in the GDA. He would like to thank Joe Fondriest and Andrew Farabow for their mentoring over the years in the fine art of moving sliders, hitting buttons, and (nicely) yelling at freshmen.

Christopher Groh (Stage Crew) is a freshman at Gonzaga and is a member of the stage crew. This is his first show and he’s very excited to be a part of it and looks forward to doing more! Meaghan Howard (Pink Lady) is so excited to be in her fourth GDA performance! She would like to thank her parents, the Rizzo carpool, the Visi Metro Squad and all of the seniors! Katie Kerns (Pink Lady) is so excited to be in her first GDA performance. She would like to thank her family and friends for supporting her and not always yelling at her for singing the Grease soundtrack nonstop. She hopes you enjoy the show. Meaghan Kilner (Ensemble) is super excited to be in her first show in the GDA. She would like to thank everyone who worked on the show and is grateful to everyone for being so welcoming. James Lau (Ensemble) is a junior in his second show with the GDA, he’d like to thank his family and friends for their undying love and support, and thanks to the GDA seniors for their new friendship and he hopes to make them proud when they’re gone. Funbunch forever!! This production of Grease is Abby MacCartee’s (Pink Lady) first show with the GDA. She has participated in many musicals and has found a love for the stage. Through the GDA Abby has met so many great friends and she is excited to share this experience with them Catherine Mahr (Ensemble) is a freshman at Georgetown Visitation. She is so excited to be in her first show with Gonzaga and is very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the GDA this year! Alison Manca (Ensemble) is a senior at Stone Ridge. She would like to thank her parents for all their support. She sends all her love to the ladies of the Wireless Blender and to the many many people that have driven her license-less self literally everywhere. Johnny Martinez-Majano (Stage Crew) is excited to be a part of stage crew for the set of Grease, which will be his second show with the GDA. Jo Matta (Betty Rizzo) is a senior at the Academy of the Holy Cross appearing in her final show with the GDA. She hopes you enjoy the show as much as she has enjoyed spending her time with her GDA family. Matt McHenry (Ensemble), a senior, is sadly in his first and final GDA production. He would like to thank his family and friends for the constant support, along with the directors for their hard work and patience. He has loved rehearsals everyday with the entire cast and wishes he auditioned prior to his senior year. PJ McMahon (Doody) is the Gonzaga senior playing the role of duty and would like to set the record straight, PJ stands for Percy Jackson. Yes, the books are about me, yes my dad is Poseidon. I would like to thank my dad, and my lovely mortal mother, my uncles Zeus and Hades, and all of my countless fans.
James Miller (Teen Angel) is very excited to be participating in his second show in the GDA. His role of Teen Angel was best described by Peter Rizzo as its only purpose being “walking down some stairs, roasting Emma Farren, and leaving.” After a spell in stage crew sophomore year, Aidan Mitchell (Ensemble) has returned with a vengeance to Grease, this time as an actor. Watch him use his many talents to yell “oh yeah” and stretch in the background. Bliss Mosko (Patty Simcox) is so excited to be performing in her first (and sadly, last) GDA show! With a background in dance, she knew a heavy dance musical like Grease would be a great fit for her to experience the GDA. Though her time in the community has not been long, Bliss is forever grateful for the friends and experiences that she has gained. Jack Munz (Putsie) has been a lacrosse and water polo player, a musician and more, but never an actor. This is his first and, sadly, final season as a member of the GDA. He’s wondering why he didn’t drop everything and join years ago! Loves you all!! Enjoy the show!! Hameed Nelson (Ensemble) “Thanks for the support of the GDA cast, crew, directors and family for the Love!” Yana Njuki (Pink Lady/Radio Singer) first GDA production has been life-changing. To the friends she has made, she thanks them for their support and welcoming arms. The GDA has been an experience better than anything that young freshman could have imagined as she watched Hairspray from the balcony. Maddie Rose Notarianni (Jan) sends her apologies for talking with a mouthful of more Twinkies than any person should consume. Since the word limit has been shortened, she would like to make the best of it with these last few words: Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, Blurb, Cattywampus, Snickersnee, Abibliophobia, Nudiustertian, rama-lama-lama-ka-dinga-da-dinga-dong, Udder. Jenny Olcott (Makeup Crew) is a senior at the Academy of the Holy Cross and serves as a member of the makeup crew. Grease is her third show. Her time in GDA has been some of the most meaningful and well spent moments of her life. Emily Orem (Sandy) can’t believe this is the 8th and final bio that she will ever write for a GDA production. She would like to thank Black Jesus, Baltimore, Betty Bumbrake’s Bloomers, stomp-hop-slap-step-stamp, “Tony”, the provincial town, the Bard, and the crazy, talented, amazing cast and crew of Grease (in that order) for giving her a lifetime of memories. Thomas Pacious (Assistant Loft Manager) is excited to go into his second show at Gonzaga. He has worked tirelessly in the shop with the other members of stage crew to make this set come to life. Julia Ravenscroft (Marty) is amazed that high school is almost over and more amazed that Gonzaga’s seen her through it all. She’s also thinking about Panda Express right now. Baby SLAPS.
Caitlin Reischauer (Ensemble) is very excited to be a part of her first GDA performance. She has always loved theater and is so grateful for the change to be part of such a wonderful show, which she has loved every minute of. Caroline Reyda (Miss Lynch) “This one goes out to Ahngie’s girls…no 2 people I love more.” Peter Rizzo (Kenickie) is a Gonzaga senior in his 7th and final show. After playing characters such as an angry G-Man, a Disney villain, a Duke of Athens who’s a jerk, and now an abrasive greaser, he wonders if Mr. Buckley and Mr. L’Etoile are trying to tell him something. Luke Rizzo (Burger Palace Boy) says “rehearsals weren’t fun because Mr. L’Etoile would yell for Rizzo and three people would respond, so if one more person asks me why I’m not playing Rizzo, I’m going to lose it.” Daniel Roginski (Ensemble) is incredibly excited to be in his first GDA production! For those of you disappointed that this will also be his only production, please refer all complaints to Mr. Buckley and Mr. L’Etoile for cutting him from Hairspray. Sarah Slimp (Sandy) is sad to bid farewell in her final GDA performance. After four years, it’s clear the adults can’t distinguish between Emily and herself as they share their last role. She is beyond thankful for the countless memories and friendships made in the theater – she is woman, hear her roar! Augie Sommers (Vince Fontaine) is electrified to be emceeing the big dance bash out at Rydell High School. Augie resides in Alexandria where he hones his radio/singing voice and practices football and golf, which he plays at Gonzaga. Augie also wants to remind you to throw your mittens around your kittens. Zoe Sommerville (Pink Lady) is filled with joy and love for the GDA. This is her first year in the GDA, but the love everyone shares makes her feel as if she’s known them forever. She’s had so much fun practicing for Grease, and wishes it would never end. Zoe is excited for the years ahead, and thanks all her friends, family and mentors for all their support. Go Greased Lightning! Johnny Tecala (Ensemble) is excited to be in his first GDA production this year. Grease is an amazing first show to be a part of and he can’t wait for what is to come in the coming years. Ella Turgeon (Ensemble) is a freshman at Georgetown Visitation and is excited to be part of the Grease cast. Her previous shows include Seussical, Mulan and Godspell. Ella would like to thank her family, friends and especially Genevieve Maloney, Caroline Reyda and Jo Matta – for all of the rides to and from play practice. This is Ryan Vigilante’s (Ensemble) fourth production. Ryan would like to thank his friends for giving him so many memories over his two years in the GDA, from the smooth sounds of Kid Band to the weirdest (best) performance of Pyramus and Thisbe he’s ever seen.
Thanks to the GDA for helping foster friendships that will last a lifetime.
Good luck to Tomas, Peter, Ryan, and the whole cast and Crew of
Grease!
Caroline Vining (Ensemble) is a junior at Stone Ridge. This is her second show with the GDA and she loves it. Thank you to Mr. Buckley, Mr. L’Etoile, Sarah, Marika, and all the amazing seniors for making this show possible. Go Ringtails! Lucas Warfield (Sonny) is really excited to be in his first, and sadly only, GDA production. He wants to thank everyone for welcoming him and helping him really enjoy himself over the last few months. Always loving the dance workouts! #VarsityGDA This is Jacob Wells’ (Ensemble) second year with the GDA and he’s enjoying every minute of it! He will surely miss all of his GDA friends who are graduating this year! (Don’t leave me, please.) Andrew Wilkerson (Eugene Florczyk) thanks his family, friends, enemies, you and everyone in the GDA (large and small) for making him write this bio. Despite the boundless love for wearing suspenders, they do significantly minimize his chances of ever being able to accidentally display his beautiful compression shorts. He’s GonnaExploitThisLoopholeToAmendTheFortyFiveWordLimitIntoSixtyBecauseSeniorityRules! Tomas Williamson (Roger) is participating in his final GDA production; he wanted to write something funny but decided his time would be better spent showing his appreciation to those who’ve helped him during these shows. Unfortunately, 45 words is not enough space to do that so…peace out! Jake Winters (Stage Crew) is excited to be part of his second GDA production and is grateful for the opportunity in his senior year. He would like to thank his family and especially his younger brother, Drew. Alex Wojciak (Stage Crew) is excited to be participating in his second performance at Gonzaga.

From the streets of Baltimore to the halls of Rydell High, with stops at a theater in Boston, a brownstone in New York, an enchanted castle in France and a fairy kingdom near Athens, it’s been a whirlwind, worldwide adventure, Sarah Slimp! Thank you Mr. L’Etoile, Mr. Buckley & Mrs. Goldsmith, Ms. Countouris & Ms. Williams, Mrs. Notarianni and Mrs. Aitchison for keeping her in character, on tempo and always beautifully turned out.
