Ms. Ellen Abood (Choreographer) is very excited to be working on her second production here at Gonzaga. She is currently a Sophomore at the Catholic University of America and is pursuing her Bachelor of Music in Musical Theatre. She would love to thank the cast and everyone involved for making her first GDA season a memorable one. Mr. Paul Buckley ‘86 (Producer) is in his 18th year of producing shows for the GDA, and he is thrilled to be working on this production of Hairspray, which has what he considers to be one of the greatest closing numbers in all of musical theater. He hopes you enjoy it. He of course thanks his awesome production team of Allan, Meghan, Matt, Marika, Ellen and Rachel for their tireless work and amazing talent in putting this show together. He would especially like to thank this year’s seniors on both sides of the curtain for their years of leadership and dedication to making the GDA such a welcoming and fun-filled place to spend an afternoon or two (or two-hundred). Lastly, and most importantly, he thanks his wife Monica and his kids, without whom all of this would be pointless. Ms. Marika Countouris (Music Director/Accompanist/Keys 1) is a Junior Musical Theatre major at the Catholic University of America where she has most recently assisted in musical direction for Start Spreading The News, A Review of Kander and Ebb. This past fall she was the Music Director for Godspell here at the GDA. This summer she served as the Music Directing Intern at Montgomery College’s Summer Dinner Theater for A Funny Thing… and Legally Blonde. She also was the Music Director and Co-Creator of a Beatles Cabaret entitled, All You Need Is Love and a Miscast Cabaret entitled Raise Your Voice. Marika also serves as Music Director in Residence for CenterStage, the student run theater company at CUA. Finally, Marika would like to thank Ellen, Mr. Buckley and Mr. L’Etoile for tackling this monster show and the kids for being awesomely talented. Mr. Matthew Duffy (Technical Director): youeversemivolunteerforsomethingunwittinglyandasaresultthatthingseemstotakeoveryourlifebutyoudontquitbecauseitgivesyouthechancetoworkwithincrediblygiftedcreativeandinterestingyoungpeoplewhoforceyoutostepupyourowngamewithyourownthinkingandyourowncreativepursuitsandattimeswhenyourareblownawaybytheircompetencyinverychallengingsituationstheymakeyouthinkthatthefuturemightnotbesobleakafterall? Mrs. Meghan Goldsmith (Producer) is in her 15th season as a member of the production staff, and is still thrilled beyond measure every day to be part of this incredible family. Memorable shows include Singin’ in the Rain ‘99, 42nd Street ‘02, Guys and Dolls ‘06, West Side Story ‘08, Kiss Me, Kate ‘11 and Fiddler ‘14. Thank you to Paul, Allan, Matt, Rachel, Marika and Ellen for being wonderful colleagues, creators and friends, and a heartfelt congratulations to this group of students, especially to the seniors and GDA veterans, on a job very well done. And a special note of congratulations to Paul on his Hall of Fame induction; you are the best mentor and friend she could ever ask to have. Finally, thanks are always in order to her amazing husband Dan, and the two brightest stars in her world, Matthew and Kate. Mr. Allan L’Etoile ‘73, HoF ‘12 (Director)has been directing shows at Gonzaga since 1997. He loves working with the students in the cast and crew, even the students in house crew, and he finds the work most enjoyable when he sees the kids make something wonderful on the stage for each other and for the audience. He thanks his wife, Marie, for agreeing to let him spend long hours away from home each year taking on this fun work. He also thanks Paul, Meghan, Matt, Rachel, Will, Mr. Mark Emory (and the folks at Safway and The Atlantic Company of America, Inc. for the scaffolding), all his goddaughters (hi, Kate!), Matt, Nate, Piper, Bob, Toi, Jeremiah, Palmer, and the incredible seniors of the class of 2016 who have made this such a fun theater year to be involved in. And he congratulates Caitie Hannon and Mr. B on being named to the GDA Hall of Fame. Rachel Spires (Lighting Consultant): A senior lighting design student at the University of Maryland, Rachel originally started out as a member of the Georgetown Visitation Tech Crew, decided to go to college for lighting design, and has been loving her life since. She is a UMD Creative and Performing Arts Scholar for lighting design. Her work includes a lighting and special effects internship on Cirque Du Soleil’s Michael Jackson ONE, five years as a part-time laser show programmer and designer at X-Laser, and various shows, both at UMD and in the Washington, D.C. area. Her current and upcoming projects include: Regina (Maryland Opera Studio, April 2016) and UMoves 2016: An Undergraduate Dance Concert (UMD Dept. of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies, May 2016).

Gabriel Aguto (Stage Crew) would like to thank his stage crew friends and Mr. Duffy for one of his favorite Gonzaga experiences. Don’t forget about Chill Wednesdays. After Arsenic, Andrew Allan (Citizen of Baltimore) disbanded his tiresome chimp orchestra and established the Baboon Bassoon Platoon. He is also happy to be a Citizen of Baltimore. Makayla Anderson-Tucker (Lorraine) is a junior at Georgetown Visitation and is thrilled to be in her first GDA production. Six times the charm. This is Aaron Aranza’s (Stage Crew) fifth GDA production. Formerly in charge of washing paintbrushes, Aaron mysteriously abdicated his post after clumps of dried paint from stage crew’s sink were found to be the cause of Forte Hall’s plumbing system malfunction... He hopes you enjoy the show. Mya Bass (Judine) loves how kind and encouraging everyone is. She would like to thank her parents for support and the cast, Mr. L’Etoile and Mr. Buckley for their hard work. Lara Bedewi (Makeup Crew), a Stone Ridge freshman, is thrilled to bring her past experience working with hair and makeup on Little Mermaid to Hairspray through the love and support of her parents. Samuel Biegun (Stage Crew) is an aspiring yung MC who hopes to make it big in “The Game.” His signature look is his fresh to death bucket hat, gold macaroni sweatshirt, and bling from head to toe. And he loves pillow pets. During his freshman year, Tommy Boyce (Corny Collins) woke up an indentured servant in the Sheehy Gonzaga’s production of Fiddler on the Roof. Two years and four shows later he still hasn’t figured out how to escape. He’d like to thank his voice teacher, Carol, his supportive parents, and Paul for braving the Washington D. C metro. Livie Brennan (Citizen of Baltimore) is stoked to be following in her sister’s footsteps in her first GDA production of Hairspray. She is especially grateful for squad. Maddie Brown (Corny’s Kid) is a bit overwhelmed by the word limit of 45. Flibbertigibbet! Bridget Brown (Citizen of Baltimore) is excited to be in her 2nd GDA production and would like to thank her family and friends for support. She would also like to give a shout-out to her sister Maddie, and wish her luck in her final GDA production. Hello, it’s me Kyle Brown (Citizen of Baltimore) is very excited to be in Hairspray and will never forget this irreplaceable experience.
Liam Burke (Assistant Stage Manager) is currently in his 6th show at Gonzaga and he is sad to have to say goodbye. These last three years have been some of the best times he has had at Gonzaga and it would not have been the same without it, Thank you to Mr. Duffy for making this a fantastic three years. Shout-out to all the Stage Crew member current and alum, especially: Koko, Mike, Ben, Ryan, and Mateusz. Andy Carluccio (Spritzer) has enjoyed his time with the GDA, having acted in Arsenic last fall and worked with the stage crew for Footloose last spring. He thanks everyone who has supported him and hopes that you enjoy the show! Colin Carmody (Corny’s Kid), a Gonzaga sophomore, is in his 4th GDA production. He loves music, math, theater, film-making, and everything else. Here is a slightly paraphrased quote from Albert Einstein, “Only two things are infinite, the universe and [#carmodyforpresident2040],and I’m not sure about the former.” Jordan Colbert (Jordan) is a sophomore at Gonzaga who is appearing in his first Gonzaga Play. He plays football and likes listening to music. Nelson Davies (Citizen of Baltimore) is a senior here at Gonzaga excited to be in his first but sadly final play here on Eye Street. Gabrielle Dawson (Shaynah) is thrilled to be in her first GDA production! Her most recent role was in AHC’s Cinderella (Fairy Godmother). She would like to give a special shootout to her fellow dynamites! David DiBari (Stage Crew) swirls in a constant state of nostalgia as he ponders on his first and last two shows. He’s experienced all sorts of experiences. However, the establishment of “Team Dave” he considers his greatest accomplishment. Big Dave will go down in the books as the biggest of Daves as he wishes you all farewell. This is Izzy Di Rita’s (Edna Turnblad) 5th GDA show. Among other roles, she has played a boy and two old ladies. She would to thank Mr. L’Etoile for letting her final show come full circle to play an old lady normally played by a boy. Kevin Dolan (Corny’s Kid) is thrilled to be a part of his 2nd production in the GDA. He wants to acknowledge his family, friends, and SQUAD, who have showed strong support for him this year. Meghan Farren (Tammy) is thrilled to return to not only the GDA stage but just as importantly the Union Station metro she so dearly loves. Thanks to the cast, directors and her family for the wild ride. Barrett Fife (Citizen of Baltimore) is so glad to be back for her second GDA show. Thank you all for proving that it takes a cast to raise a child.
Heather Fitzgerald (Stage Crew/Makeup Crew) is very excited to be part of another GDA production. She has done makeup crew for past shows but is happy to add another skill to her repertoire. Being Mateusz Gierdalski’s (Sound Manager) 7th and the last show, Hairspray will be special in many ways. He would like to at least acknowledge some people. So people... thanks. And of course, he is definitely going to miss the impervious soul of Mr. L’Etoile, the spontaneous soul of Mr. Buckley, and the daffy soul of Mr. Duffy. And finally, many thanks to his parents, who signed him up for stage crew without his consent. Maddy Giuliani (Stage Crew) is happy she got to work on her second set for the GDA. She hopes you enjoy the show. Margot Giuliani (Stage Crew) is thrilled to be doing stage crew again for her third GDA production. She would like to thank everyone who helped with the show and hopes you enjoy it and the sets. Will Gorman (Mr. Pinky) is thrilled to finally have 45 words for his bio, a reality he has been envisioning since his first GDA show sophomore year. Since then, he’s been in five shows including Hairspray, his last (unfortunately) but it’s been an emotional thrill ride the entire 27 months. He’d like to thank his parents for driving him to and from unpredictable rehearsals, and his friends for being cool. Ben Gossart (Corny’s Kid) is honored to be in his 4th GDA production. He wants to thank his parents and the directors for their support! Bebé no duerme, bebé no come, bebé quiere hacer la boink boink. Benjamin Hadinger (Assistant Stage Manager) is very thankful he spent all four years here at Gonzaga working for the GDA, from learning new skills, to becoming Assistant Stage Manager, to the 16 total Home Depot runs that he made throughout his theater career. The GDA has been a second family and he will greatly miss every part about it (even Hell Week). Dalia Hamilton (Penny Pingleton) is so excited to be playing her favorite role in Hairspray and hopes that everyone loves the show. Shout out to Amanda Bynes for playing this role before me. Betsy Haywood (Makeup Crew) is very excited to be a part of this year’s production of Hairspray and looks forward to many more years in GDA! Sophie Haywood (Makeup Crew) is thrilled to be a part of her first and final performance with the GDA. She thanks her family and friends for their support. Walter Hill (Citizen of Baltimore) is excited to be in his first GDA production. He is a senior and would like to thank his family for their love and support.
Since 2006, we’ve watched as friendships have formed and grown while performances have taken shape and earned raves. This has been a wonderfully heartening and not to be missed experience. To everyone who has ever been involved in any of the productions, in any way, Thank You! Andrew & Suzanne Marcou
Nicholas ’10: The Front Page, Annie, West Side Story, The Pajama Game, Cyrano Da Remix, and Lil Abner Ted ’12: Cyrano Da Remix (Stage Crew), Lil Abner, Much Ado About Nothing, and A Christmas Carol Peter ’16: Our Town, 42ND Street, Noises Off, Fiddler on the Roof, Taming of the Shrew, Footloose, Arsenic & Old Lace, and Hairspray
What happy nights and days our family has had being a part of the GDA! R.I.P. Doc Warman ‘57
Mharizza Hipolito (Stage Crew) is the fundamental reason of why Stage Crew is often referred to as “lit.” She started from the bottom, and five shows later, she is here where ever that may be. She’s loved her time in the GDA and the memories brought with it. And let us never forget she is and forever will be an OG member of the elite “Team Dave.” Matt Hoffman (Stage Crew) is thrilled to be participating in his seventh show with the GDA. He would like to thank everyone else who slaved away under the oppressive regime of Jonathan Kokotajlo to make this set possible, and wants to wish a warm goodbye to all the seniors who helped make these past three years amazing. Philomena Hughes (Motormouth Maybelle) is a senior at Bishop Ireton and is excited to star in her first GDA show as Motormouth Maybelle. She loves you all!
