by Joseph Bathe
Iam a Prayer. I do not exist in nature. An architect cannot create me through his ability to design. A doctor cannot examine and diagnose me. A banker cannot find me in the interest rates. The laborer cannot give me life by his hard work. The draftsman cannot draw me on paper. The sculptor cannot create me out of clay. The builder cannot put me together with boards, bricks, and mortar. The farmer cannot harvest me. The philanthropist cannot give me as a gift. The artist cannot mix me on his palette. The horticulturist cannot plant me. The baker cannot put me into a recipe. The astronomer cannot view me through a telescope. The florist cannot put me into an arrangement. The geologist cannot find me in the caverns of the earth. The insurance agent cannot sell me in a policy. A judge cannot make a ruling on me. The jeweler cannot place me in a setting. A librarian cannot place me on a shelf. The mathematician cannot put me into an equation. A lawyer cannot represent me, and the musician cannot create me with notes.
I am born in the heart of one who longs to be in the presence of God—one who comes to God in complete adoration, surrender, and dependency. My birth is made easy in the heart of one who has been stripped of pride and self-sufficiency and honestly admits his failures. Life is breathed into me in times of helplessness and desperation when
faith joins hands with hope. The one who gives me birth longs for the change I can bring to his life, circumstances, and needs. My greatest joy is to create change in his heart, making it more like the heart of God.
I am a Prayer. Will you be the one who will breathe full life into me?
