Goodwill-Suncoast Accomplishments 2020-2021 TRANSFORM LIVES AND STRENGTHEN COMMUNITIES THROUGH SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES. • Goodwill-Suncoast served 33,366 people during 2020 and placed 1,262 people in jobs. • Job Connection Centers inside Goodwill stores in St. Petersburg and Riverview and the virtual services site at myjobconnection.org assisted 2,576 people during 2020.
• Community Employment Services provided training and placement assistance to 93 young people and adults with disabilities:
Project SEARCH and JET Certified provided virtual instruction to help individuals earn credentials in customer service/retail skills, food handling and food service, hospitality and forklift operation.
Business partners included Hilton Ocala, Burlington, Stevi B’s Pizzeria, Episcopal Children’s Services, Crystal Harley Davidson, Mojo’s Grill and Catering (Ocala and Belleview), City of Belleview, and Ocala World Equestrian Center.
• Goodwill Temporary Staffing served 652 job seekers and placed 518 people in jobs. • Our re-entry programs served 1,063 residents in the two facilities, placing 665 in employment. • Our BookWorks childhood literacy program presented 27,371 books to 15,586 children from families with low incomes in 149 locations; 593 volunteers provided 9,224 hours of reading, sorting, and assistance with book drops to elementary schools.
• During the third year of partnership with Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay, Goodwill hosted 3,078 8th and 9th graders at its storefront in the Tampa Finance Park, helping them learn about budgeting and personal finance as they found out about Goodwill as a budget-friendly retailer and about our services to the community. • We provided employment opportunities for 32 individuals, many with severe disabilities, through Food Service and Postal Service contracts at MacDill Air Force Base. • We provided homes for 377 people in apartments with barrier-free options, service/support coordination, and rental assistance.

• Donations at Goodwill stores and donation centers were supplemented by 47 community donation events which produced 3,035 donations, and 147 corporate donations.
CREATE NEW OPPORTUNITIES TO CAPTURE MARKET SHARE OF DONATED MATERIALS. • Goodwill-Suncoast collected 1,066,845 donations to support Goodwill’s services to the community. • We added two new Giving Makes Cents accounts (American Cancer Society and Smiling Sisters Girl Scouts), bringing our total partners to 37.
• 53.3 million (53,342,250) pounds of donations were collected and 43.5 million (43,525,024) pounds or 81.6% of those items were reused or recycled, diverting them from landfills and supporting sustainability efforts.

CONTINUE RETAIL GROWTH TO EXPAND THE MISSION THROUGH SELF-FUNDING. • During the year Goodwill delivered $661,822 in self-funded mission services to 31,783 people in the community.
RECRUIT, DEVELOP AND RETAIN TEAM MEMBERS TO PROVIDE QUALITY SERVICES AS WE GROW OUR SOCIAL ENTERPRISE. • We successfully deployed the ADP/Workforce Now Recruitment module for use by all hiring managers and Goodwill-Suncoast applicants. The internal and external Career Centers launched with 91 posted applications. • We successfully deployed the ADP/Workforce Now Onboarding module for use by all new hires. After launching the module, 10 new hires were processed through the new Onboarding experience. • Our Career Navigation Services assisted 743 team members during 2020-2021.
• Sales at our stores and online produced $55.57 million in revenue for 2020-2021, despite the negative impacts of Covid on shopper habits, shorter store hours and the hesitance of many people to return to work. • Goodwill expanded the selection offered online beyond jewelry, to include musical instruments, electronics and collectables. Our E-commerce program generated $1,291,715, a 79.8% increase compared to last year’s $718,587.
• 214 team members attended live, but remote financial literacy training through Goodwill’s Learning Management System (Talent LMS); topics included Covid 19--Financial Challenges and Impact, Building Your Financial Know How, Budgeting and Planning, Understanding Credit, Budgeting, and Credit Reports and Scores. • The CORE Management Program reconvened and was delivered virtually via Talent LMS with 31 participants completing the 372 hours of training to graduate. Graduates represented all areas of Goodwill operations at the June 4 virtual graduation ceremony. • The Goodwill-Suncoast Learning Center (TalentLMS) added 85 additional courses for learners. 842 LMS learners completed 3,521 courses, averaging approximately four courses each. • In partnership with Humana, Goodwill-Suncoast achieved its strategic goal with 20% of enrolled participants reaching silver status in the Humana Go365 Wellness program, resulting in a 3% discount applied to healthcare premiums.
• We re-opened the Gandy Outlet store, generating $1,717,695 in sales during FY 2020-2021, more than $415,000 over budgeted expectations.

• The group health insurance renewal resulted in no increase in premiums with no rate increase for our team members for Plan Year 2020-2021.
INCREASE CHARITABLE GIFTS AND PLANNED GIVING. • Fund Development raised $928,357 and generated total funds of $2,295,989 with investment income. • A record number of free spirits came together for the 5th Annual Hippie Dash on May 15, 2021 in Safety Harbor. In all, 1,123 people registered for the 10k, 5k runs with a 1-mile Walk, Woof & Roll Event and Flower Child Fun Run. Gross revenue totaled $158,881, of which $55,426 were in-kind donations of goods and services.
• The Round Up program raised $439,183 this year. Not only did this provide essential funds for our services, but the work of Fund Development team members provided invaluable training to our frontline retail staff to ensure employee mission awareness. • 100% of board members and the leadership team gave during the year.

BE THE FIRST CHOICE FOR DONORS, SHOPPERS, VOLUNTEERS AND PEOPLE SEEKING SERVICES AND EMPLOYMENT.
• The brand voice for Goodwill’s Belle of the Ball program was developed. Through two logo marks and a planned showroom, we have begun to convey how the program will foster increased self-esteem among girls with limited financial resources while helping them think beyond the dress to future career goals.
• Goodwill-Suncoast earned free, positive media exposure worth $159,326 during the 2020-2021 fiscal year, including television feature stories about our Job Connection services and creative Halloween costumes from Goodwill, hundreds of free radio spots about Job Connection services, and free billboards, radio ads and newspaper ads promoting Hippie Dash. • Effective marketing of Hippie Dash resulted in a record 1,123 people registering and many new friends sharing a morning of fitness and fun to benefit Goodwill.
• A new digital campaign, along with a new furnished-fromdonations model apartment and refreshed site page, launched in June to fill vacancies at Heritage Oaks of Ocala. The digital tracking shows increased engagement with approximately 180 inquiries per month, resulting in about 45 people booking appointments to see the apartments each month.
• Goodwill’s contributions to sustainability were highlighted through regular social media posts, in messaging for the virtual Junior Achievement Finance Park, and on a Facebook live broadcast for the City of Largo.

EXPAND STRATEGIC RELATIONSHIPS WITH GOVERNMENT, BUSINESS AND COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP TO BETTER SERVE THE COMMUNITY. • Goodwill leadership met with Tampa City Council Members and participated in public hearings that led to the successful rezoning in November 2021 of Goodwill’s Hillsborough Avenue/Tampa site to a planned development with a 140-bed community corrections facility and retail store.
• Goodwill partnered with banks to provide financial literacy training to our team members and program participants: PNC, Regions, Suncoast Credit Union, Truist, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. • Nineteen businesses provided sponsorships for the Hippie Dash. • We partnered with Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay to provide experiential programs focusing on financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurial education, serving thousands of middle school students annually. • Goodwill partnered with Hilton Ocala, Burlington, Stevi B’s Pizzeria, Episcopal Children’s Services, Crystal Harley Davidson, Mojo’s Grill and Catering in Ocala and Belleview, the City of Belleview and Ocala World Equestrian Center to help young people and adults with disabilities transition to community employment.
• We partnered with Nonprofit Vote to encourage voter registration (National Voter Registration Day) and voting. We reached out to team members via email as well as to the community via social media posts. Individuals were encouraged to get ‘vote ready’ and provided with information on how to restore their vote if they had prior felonies. • Senior Goodwill-Suncoast staff served in community leadership roles with the local workforce board, CareerSource Pinellas, St. Pete Works and Pinellas Works community planning committees, the statewide RESPECT Business Development Committee, the Pasco County Human Trafficking Task Force, the Gulfport Senior Center Foundation, Rotary Clubs of St. Petersburg and of Tampa, Leadership Tampa Bay, Tampa and St. Petersburg Chambers of Commerce, the Industry Liaison Group for federal contractors, and the board of Goodwill Industries International.

MAXIMIZE THE VALUE AND EFFECTIVENESS OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND VOLUNTEERS. • The CARF surveyors stated, “…the board of directors is committed and involved and has a wide variety of resources and external knowledge.” Despite virtual participation requirements, throughout the pandemic, board members have remained highly committed to Goodwill and consistently involved. • All board members supported Goodwill’s mission through contributions. • 5,012 volunteers gave 68,043 hours to assist Goodwill in achieving its mission. • In light of the realities of Covid, many virtual options for volunteer participation were developed: BookWorks, Belle of the Ball, Financial Literacy for Youth in partnership with Junior Achievement, and JAG now have virtual participation opportunities. Examples include virtual readings - both prerecorded and live, virtual dress shopping; and participation in the Junior Achievement virtual financial center. JAG has implemented a complete program online with individual activities in volunteer’s homes and neighborhoods.

INNOVATE CONTINUOUSLY TO CREATE A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE THAT MAXIMIZES RESOURCES FOR MISSION AND EMPHASIZES THE SUSTAINABILITY OF OUR COMMUNITIES’ RESOURCES. • A new material handling and storage equipment/process was introduced that will allow the collection, transportation, processing, and storage of donated goods in the same container. Pilot is pending arrival of additional equipment. • An RFID system was piloted in the warehouse to streamline inventory management and stock transfers. This system will assist with donated and new goods inventory including stock levels in the warehouse and automate transfer of goods to retail stores. The system will be rolled out in 2021-2022 to reduce errors in inventory and to reduce time required to receive transferred goods.
UTILIZE RISK MANAGEMENT AND CORPORATE COMPLIANCE AS ESSENTIAL BUSINESS PRACTICES.
• Shoppertrak was rolled out to all stores to measure traffic and assess conversion (shopper to buyer). Data obtained from this system can be used to target product to the floor, increased customer service, and other techniques to increase conversion and sales.
• Goodwill-Suncoast achieved a three-year CARF Accreditation with NO recommendations: “…staff members are commended for their enthusiasm for and commitment to working toward improving the participants’ quality of life....”
• The RFP process for a new POS system with self-checkout and RFID scanning capabilities was completed and the SUPRO POS system will be purchased and implemented in 2021-2022.
• We maintained PCI DSS compliance status upon completion of the 300+ PCI data security questions/standards.
• We incorporated team member mobile phone accessibility to ADP/WFN employment profiles and timecards. • During the past year the organization moved into a more positive financial position: cash flow doubled, approaching the six month best practices level, and total current assets increased from $19.4 million to $34.05 million.
• We conducted system and file recovery, and completed one biweekly payroll for all team members remotely as an exercise for the disaster recovery plan. • All PCs were upgraded to Windows 10 and Office 365 and Microsoft TEAMS was rolled out to enhance collaboration. • Insurance policies and associated requirements were reviewed to minimize organizational risk.
