JOB TRAINING
Job Skills and Job Readiness Training Goodwill offers job training programs for individuals facing barriers to employment. Some participants with limited work histories, educational attainment, and/or English language skills complete a work-readiness program as the first step toward a job in customer service, food service, retail, housekeeping, administration, and other fields. Others may choose to enter a skillstraining program that prepares them to succeed in a specific industry, such as human services. Individuals with disabilities who require structured support to work are often trained on-the-job and, over time, transition to work in the community. Training programs include: First Step – A four-week job readiness training program. uman Services Employment Ladder Program H – An eight-week training program to prepare individuals to work in human services.
BOSTON CAREER LINK
Boston Career Link – A One-Stop Career Center Boston Career Link, operated by Goodwill, is part of the Massachusetts One-Stop Career Center network connecting workers with employers. Boston Career Link offers universal access to a broad range of career counseling services, career resources, workshops, job fairs, mass hiring events, and special programs to connect job seekers with employers. Job seekers learn about current openings, receive assistance with their job searches, learn job search techniques, and receive instruction on how to apply for a job online. Businesses come to Boston Career Link throughout the year to conduct on-site interviews with qualified, pre-screened job seekers or to participate in job fairs.

Goodwill also offers a Day Habilitation program with an emphasis on individualized skill development for individuals with disabilities.
YOUTH SERVICES
Building Better Lives for Youth Goodwill’s Youth Initiative focuses on academic support, leadership development, and college/career exploration. Goodwill’s youth services also include a standardized testing (MCAS) support program and school-to-work programs for high school students in Boston and Salem with special needs.

Business Partnerships That Work Businesses such as Amazon, Macy’s, MassHealth, and others have reaped the many benefits of being a Goodwill/Boston Career Link business partner, including pre-screened candidates, reduced recruiting costs, trained and dedicated workers, increased employee retention, and access to tax credits. These benefits and more contribute to a healthier bottom line for business partners. On-site Employment Goodwill provides business solutions to companies with light assembly, packaging, and fulfillment needs on-site at their place of business. The Employment Supports Program, made up of mobile work crews, provides closely supervised and structured work in the community for individuals with disabilities. Participants learn job skills and gain real work experience.

The Goodwill Stores The Goodwill Stores are a social enterprise offering gently used donated clothing and household items to a broad range of individuals and families at very affordable prices. At the same time, they provide on-the-job training and internship opportunities to individuals enrolled in Goodwill job training programs, as well as jobs and career-ladder opportunities.

AbilityOne Goodwill’s AbilityOne program provides custodial services for more than seven million square feet of government office buildings. AbilityOne is a federal initiative to help people with disabilities find employment by delivering services to the U.S. government. Computer Recycling Program Goodwill’s computer recycling program creates job opportunities and gives residential donors a way to dispose of old computer equipment that is easy, convenient, and doesn’t harm the environment. The program is in partnership with Dell Reconnect.
