Job Training & Career Services
Businesses & Goodwill
Goodwill offers job training programs for individuals facing barriers to employment. Some participants with limited work histories, educational attainment, and/or English language skills complete a work-readiness program as the first step toward a job in customer service, food service, retail, housekeeping, administration, and other fields. Others may choose to enter a skills-training program that prepares them to succeed in a specific industry, such as human services. Individuals with disabilities who require structured support to work are typically trained and work at one of Goodwill’s social enterprises (The Goodwill Stores, on-site employment, and housekeeping and maintenance through AbilityOne) and, over time, transition to work in the community.
Businesses such as Chipotle, Stop & Shop, UPS, and others have reaped the many benefits of being a Goodwill and Boston Career Link business partner, including pre-screened candidates, reduced recruiting costs, trained and dedicated workers, increased employee retention, and access to tax credits. These benefits and more contribute to a healthier bottom line for business partners.
