Four more famous names, synonymous with Goodwood, have confirmed their attendance at the 72nd Members’ Meeting on 29-30 March. Popular Swedish driver and 1999 Indianapolis 500 winner Kenny Bräck cemented his place in Goodwood Revival folklore with his heroics in last year’s Whitsun Trophy race. In case you haven’t seen Mr Bräck’s automotive acrobatics in Adrian Newey’s Ford GT40, we’d suggest you type ‘Kenny Bräck Ford GT40’ into YouTube and then sit back and marvel at his incredible reactions. Bräck will be joined by Revival stalwart Jackie Oliver, who famously took over Jim Clark’s seat at Team Lotus in 1968, and went on to win the Le Mans 24 Hours the following year. More recently he’s become something of a regular at Goodwood, and is often seen at the sharp end of the field. Former World Touring Car champion Rob Huff, who drove an Austin A40 to victory in Part One of the St Mary’s Trophy at the 2012 Revival, takes the wheel of a mighty Renault RE30B for the Members’ Meeting demonstration of turbocharged Formula 1 machinery. The 34-year-old Cambridgeshire racer also drives a Rover SD1 in the Gerry Marshall Trophy for Group 1 touring cars. ‘To race a Rover SD1 will take me back a few years because my grandad used to take me to school in one every day,’ recalls Huff. ‘And to get behind the wheel of the Renault turbo is going to be something pretty special because I’ve never driven a Grand Prix car before and I’m told that this machine, in particular, is a bit of an animal.’ Le Mans ace Darren Turner is also no stranger to Goodwood, having raced Minis, AC Cobras, an Aston Martin DB4GT and a Lotus Cortina. However, at the Members’ Meeting he will drive his very own 1959 Turner Sports Mk 1. ‘I won’t be at the front,’ says Turner, ‘I’ll be happy pottering about at the back along with some other lovely old cars.’ Find out how to secure tickets for the 72nd Members’ Meeting in March 2014 on the back page PAGE 1

Now, with the 72nd meeting, that tradition is brought up to date – and then some. With a live music stage, bar and industrial chic atmosphere, the big buzz for dance fans is sure to be found in the Main Room (Hangar 1). A variety of acts will include Guilty Pleasures, Perhaps Contraption and Oompah Brass, while Circo Rum Ba Ba will star in the circus Big Top.
Saturday 29 March, the opening day of the 72nd Members’ Meeting, will deliver a superb feast of unrivalled track action, with ultra-competitive races and mesmerising high-speed demonstrations featuring many cars never before seen at the circuit. And as this is a motor sport event quite unlike any other, there will also be plenty of fun activities to participate in – from welly wanging to egg and spoon racing. At 18:30hrs as the racing comes to an end, the festivities will just be getting started as the airfield opens to welcome guests to Goodwood’s biggest and most spectacular party ever. And it’s absolutely access all areas for everyone. The beat of drums will fill the air heralding music, dancing, fun, games, food and drink on a scale never before seen at the Motor Circuit. It will be three hours of complete and utter sensory overload, culminating around 21:30hrs with an unforgettable fireworks display. There’ll be something for every age group, with all visitors – drivers, celebrities, spectators – enjoying the same VIP

status that GRRC membership confers. As during the whole weekend, everyone eats, drinks and plays together. Festoons of coloured lights and warming braziers will mark out a winding ‘street’, a procession route for marching bands and roving street entertainers – everything from fire jugglers and stilt walkers to a giant mechanical dragon. As well as food and drink concessions and a bandstand (with live jazz), Main Street, Goodwood-style, will feature acts such as the Smallest Theatre in the World, the Village Disco, Photobooth Robot and The Dukes Box – a glass trailer with a live band inside it to play whatever songs you desire! Don’t miss the vintage steam fair, complete with helterskelter and big wheel, and the circus Big Top. There will be bands galore, including Oompah Brass, and DJ act Buttoned Down Disco thumping out everyone’s favourite pop tunes. All this will make the Saturday night festivities at the 72nd Members’ Meeting a truly epic end to a brilliant day – with another great day’s racing still to come on Sunday, of course.

Practice takes place on Saturday morning, with the first car due on the track at 09:00hrs, and in the afternoon you’ll also see the low drag Sports Cars, the Turbo-Era F1 Cars and the Group B Rally Cars running, plus the first three races. The remaining nine races are on Sunday, with the demo cars also in action again. ‘After an absence of 48 years, it is high time the great British motor sport tradition that is the Members’ Meeting made a comeback. I remember going as a boy to the 71st, in 1966. That was fantastic. But this one will be very special too, with a character that’s as much social gathering as it is motor sport. Apart from a superb line-up of cars and drivers, the Saturday night festivities promise to be great fun. You should by now have received my personal invitation, and the Countess and I and all the family very much look forward to seeing you there.’
A L L W E L C O M E I N T H E G R E AT H A L L FO R FEASTING, FUN AND FESTIVITIES During the 72nd Members’ Meeting, Goodwood’s Earls Court building will be transformed into the Great Hall, becoming a hub around which the social side of the meeting revolves. ‘Members and their guests can get together in the Great Hall, with everyone – myself and my family, competitors and spectators alike – eating, drinking and laughing together,’ says Lord March. ‘And there will be plenty of games for everyone, so if you want you can have a go and score points for your House.’ The emphasis is very much on hearty, warming comfort food, with everyone sitting together on trestle tables. Also on the menu is a feast of less traditional fare, hosted by the irrepressible Club de Fromage. Cheesy? Certainly. Pop-up laughs through the night range from Air-Guitar Hero and Hula Hoop competitions, Disco Dance and Limbo awards to singalongs with the Pearly Kings and Queens. And let’s not forget the Musical Bingo – complete with a choir!

LU S C I O U S L A N C I A S The mid-80s Group B rally cars provided an epic spectacle of noise, unlimited power and huge crowds. Machines like the Audi quattro and Peugeot 205 T16 are well known, but many other manufacturers tried their luck, with varying degrees of success... Possibly the most eccentric and unconventional Group B car was the Citroën BX 4TC, and at the 72nd Members’ Meeting you’ll be able to see one in action. Also present will be three Lancia 037s, including an EVO2 version and a Wurth-liveried car. They will be joined by Lancia Delta S4s, Audi quattros, Peugeot 205 T16s, MG Metro 6R4s, Ford RS200s and more – all pushed hard in a high-speed time trial on the circuit.

CA L L I N G A L L S P R I N G S P R I N T E R S – I T ’ S T I M E T O G ET YO U R E N T RY FO R M S I N One of many highlights in 2014 will be the GRRC Spring Sprint, where Members race their cars against the clock on the circuit. Last year’s event was a huge success, and this year the Spring Sprint is on 10 May. We have moved the event back from its traditional Easter Monday date, following feedback from Members. Entrants are advised to complete an entry form as early as possible. If you are not competing, you and your guests are welcome to spectate and enjoy the bar and dining facilities. The Goodwood Hotel is offering a 10% discount on the normal rate – there is currently plenty of availability for Saturday, but rooms on Friday are limited. To book, please call the hotel directly on +44 (0)1243 775537. As last year, the Spring Sprint will be organised by the GRRC (now a

recognised MSA Club) in conjunction with the BARC, and we are confident that our combined expertise will ensure a safe and enjoyable event. ENTRY FORMS
The Supplementary Regulations and Entry Form for the Spring Sprint are available now. To obtain your copy, please contact the Club either by telephone on +44 (0)1243 755057, or by email at grrc@goodwood.com. A current licence issued by the MSA is required and entries are limited to 100. The closing date for entries is 14 April 2014, and all entries will be confirmed by 17 April 2014. TEST DAYS: 4 & 5 MARCH
We have arranged two days of testing at the circuit for those taking part in the Spring Sprint. Since this is an official testing day and timing is allowed, you may wish to bring a mechanic to fine-tune your car. The circuit will be open from 08:00hrs until 17:00hrs with a lunch break from 12:30-13:30hrs. Please note all drivers must have a minimum of a Race National B or Speed A Licence to take part. To book your place, please call the ticket office on +4(0)1243 755055.
M E M B E R S S ET L I G H T N I N G - FA S T PACE ON ST MORITZ CRESTA R U N The first GRRC event of 2014 has already taken place, with 18 members jetting off to the beautiful resort of St Moritz in Switzerland to tackle the infamous Cresta Run. The run itself proved as challenging as ever, and there were some admirable displays of sheer determination and bravery. Members took part in the GRRC Lightning Cup in which they were able to score points for their Houses. Rupert Swallow (Aubigny) slid to victory, followed by Andrew Beaumont (Torbolton) in 2nd and Club Secretary, James MacNaughton (Methuen), in 3rd, winning 100, 70 and 50 points respectively. James also took home the prize for fastest time, and an additional 50 points for Methuen. Members competing in the forthcoming Autosolo at Goodwood House on 16 March will also be able to score House points. In St Moritz Members were also able to enjoy a spot of caviar and vodka tasting, take to the skies with a paraglide over the majestic Engadin Valley, brave a thrilling bobsleigh run, and sample some superb skiing on the Corviglia’s wonderful slopes. Huge thanks must go to the entire team at the St Moritz Tobogganing Club and the Steffani Hotel, as without their help this trip would not have been possible.
