Exhibiting at Goodwood Aviation Events
Foreword Goodwood, one of the finest stately homes in the country, has been the home of the Dukes of Richmond for over 300 years. Today, Goodwood is one of the most prestigious names in the sporting and leisure sectors. As well as its 200 year old racecourse, the 11,500 acre estate boasts a 3,000 acre organic farm, a historic Motor Circuit, two golf courses, a 91-room hotel, a cricket pitch and a Flying School, complete with a fleet of five brand new state-of-the-art Cessna Skyhawk aircraft and a vintage warbird, the Harvard. Goodwood is home to two world-class motor sport events, the Festival of Speed and the Revival Meeting, between them bringing over 300,000 attendees to these annual events. The Goodwood Aviation Exhibition, part of the Festival of Speed, is a direct response to the continued enthusiasm and demand from our Festival visitors and the aviation industry, for a dedicated quality annual exhibition in Britain. Goodwood has been at the heart of the English summer season for over 200 years and currently welcomes over 750,000 visitors to the Estate each year. I look forward to welcoming you and your business to the Goodwood Estate.
at the Festival of Speed Goodwood Aerodrome was built during the Second World War by the Royal Air Force as a relief landing ground for nearby RAF Tangmere. The Airfield was created on land that formed part of the Goodwood Estate, home to the Dukes of Richmond for over 300 years and was donated by the 9th Duke – the renowned amateur racer and aircraft engineer Freddie March – to assist the war effort. Known as RAF Westhampnett, this satellite station was active from July 1940 to May 1946 as a Battle of Britain station and home to 43, 129, 145, 602 and 610 Squadrons, operating Hawker Hurricanes, P-51 Mustangs, and Supermarine Spitfires. After the war, the airfield’s perimeter road was converted into a racing circuit, which was opened in September 1948 by Freddie March to host Britain’s very first post-War motor race at a permanent venue as the spiritual successor to Brooklands. In the summer of 1936 the Earl of March, later to become the 9th Duke of Richmond – better known as the talented designer, engineer, racing driver and Brooklands winner Freddie March – held a private hillclimb for the Lancia Car Club at Goodwood House. He won it, naturally, and in doing so inspired his grandson, the present Earl of March, to create a new and exciting racing event at his family home. The resulting event was the Festival of Speed. The inaugural event was held in the summer of 1993, and attracted 25,000 spectators. Today, the Festival of Speed has become firmly established as the must attend annual celebration of motoring culture. In 2010 we welcomed 176,000 visitors, with all admissions strictly by advance ticket only. Visitors travel from all across the globe to attend this world renowned event. The Aviation Exhibition enables pilots, buyers and enthusiasts to see and even experience the latest models and technical developments in a stunning setting and a relaxed environment. Staged at the Goodwood Aerodrome, conveniently situated less than half a mile from the site of the Festival of Speed with a complimentary shuttle bus connecting the two areas, the Goodwood Aviation Exhibition offers a superb opportunity for the aviation industry to gain real exposure to a huge high net worth audience.
The Aviation Exhibition
The Aviation Exhibition
Why exhibit at the Aviation Exhibition? “We are very pleased with the results and we have booked our space for next year’s show. Even though most people attended the Festival to see cars, it took little time for those who use executive aircraft to appreciate the aircraft’s potential to enhance their corporate and private travel.” Bob Berry - Pilatus Centre UK - Managing Director
- During the 2010 Festival of Speed over 400 aircraft and helicopters flew in. - Around a third of all those attending the Festival of Speed either have a private pilot’s licence, hire charter aircraft or have a very strong interest in aviation - The Goodwood Aviation Exhibition has proved to offer a superb opportunity for the aviation industry to gain real exposure to a huge high net worth audience - 57% of Festival of Speed customers said they would be more likely to consider the products or services of a company that supported Goodwood - More than 1 in 5 had been to the Festival of Speed more than 5 times, an impressive loyalty rate
Audience demographics (data source: ticket buyers) The Festival of Speed attracts a broad range of ages, from under 35’s through to 55+, the event appeals to all ages due to the wide variety of content - 79% Male, 21% Female, 60% aged between 35 to 54 - 52% travel from surrounding counties (East & West Sussex, Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire, Kent, Essex) - 47% hold professional or senior management positions - Average household income £59,200 - 33% of attendees’ annual household income is above £70,000
