Traffic Management Local Residents Data Sheet Goodwood Revival 6-8 September 2024 Event Installation: There will be a steady build up of heavy transport ferrying essential event infrastructure to the grounds of Goodwood Motor Circuit in the last few weeks prior to the event. This will gradually intensify the closer we get to the event weekend. This transport is directed from the A27 along Madgwick Lane and Claypit Lane towards the main entrance of Goodwood Motor Circuit. Whilst we do not wish to deter you from using your normal and preferred routes, we would recommend that you refrain from using this particular road in the final week of the event build up as this will avoid disruption to your journey. During the Event: The event parking plan necessitates that a number of the fields bordering the event are utilised for public vehicles. In the continued interest of public safety several roads are subject to formal Road Closure Notices whilst the event is live. The roads that will be closed are as follows: • • • • •
Claypit Lane from the Woodcote roundabout to the Rolls Royce roundabout New Road from the junction with Kennel Hill to A285: Westbound ingress one-way from 6:30hrs – 13:30hrs and eastbound egress one-way from 15:30hrs until 21:00hrs. The residents permit is not valid during these times due to the one-way system in place. Pook Lane from the junction of Fordwater Road to Kennel Hill Kennel Hill southbound from Pook Lane to the Woodcote roundabout. This closure is only effective from 15:30hrs until 21:00hrs - the residents permit is not valid during this time due to the one-way system in place. Madgwick Lane eastbound from Old Place Lane to the Westerton Road. This closure is only effective from 15:30hrs until 21:00hrs, the residents permit is not valid during this time due to the one-way system in place.
Generally speaking, the roads will be closed from 06:00hrs daily until 21:00hrs. The closures are subject to implementation by Sussex Police and our Traffic Management Partner and on occasion the closures are lifted when traffic is deemed as light. Your enclosed local residents pass will allow you to pass through the road closures, except those marked one-way as highlighted above, but we do recommend that you avoid the road closures wherever possible. The School Bus: The route and collection points for the Stagecoach school bus will be unaffected during the course of the event. Stagecoach has already been notified. Event Extraction: The traffic along Claypit Lane will be heavy during the week following the event and traffic movements will fall away rapidly after that. Normal use of these routes will be unaffected during this time. Liaison: The aim of the Goodwood Road Racing Company is to keep the impact of the event on the local community to an absolute minimum but, as you can appreciate, hosting an International Event on this scale leads to some logistical issues. Throughout the year we host a series of meetings and work closely with the Local Authority, Highway Network Services, the Emergency services, the public transport provider and the Local Parish Councils to ensure that the traffic management of the event is as effective and as efficient as possible.
