Mojito
A Tropical Christmas Drink
Everyone, say hello to this creamy coconut white Christmas mojito, a perfect drink for all your holiday parties!
Ingredients -
juice of 1 lime 8 leaves mint 1 tablespoon sugar 2 tablespoons white rum 1 tablespoon coconut rum 1/4 cup canned coconut milk sparkling water for topping pomegranate arils for serving
Directions -

In a glass, muddle the lime juice, sugar and mint leaves until the leaves have broken down. Fill the glass half way with ice. In a blender, combine the white rum, coconut rum, and coconut milk and pulse until smooth. Pour over the ice and stir to combine. Top with sparkling water, mint and pomegranate.

“Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more.” H. Jackson Brown Jr. Scharloo or Skalo as it is called by locals, has had the reputation of being a part of town where a lot of negativity takes place. However there are a group of people that are working hard to restore the once glorious part of Willemstad. Ana Freitas Frias is one of those people. She fell in love with the area a few years back despite its notoriety. Immediately she wanted to make a change. Her first project was ‘Hello Skalo’. Her idea was to give back to the people of Skalo because she felt that the best thing to do is to invest in the people of the area. The first event was a back to school drive where she and her team collected school equipment for the children of the area. To her surprise this was a great success.

Afterwards she organized a Foodies Fest where about 39 food stands were displayed and this one was also a great success with almost 2500 visitors. Ana said this initiative was more to show people that did not live in Skalo that it is a part of town where you can wander and enjoy without any fear. The walking tour that she organizes once a month shows the people that besides art, great restaurants and many beautiful historical buildings, the residents are beautiful people.

Not only has she been organizing events to promote Skalo but she established her business there also. Integra Natural is a natural beauty and cleansing product store. Everything is made in store with all natural products. The idea to produce and sell natural products came from her daughter Tatiana who started making lip balms. This initiative turned into a blooming family business. Besides lip balms, Integra Natural is selling soaps, massage oils and many other products based on natural ingredients. It was a great risk to take for someone who had the perfect 9 to 5 job. She and her husband both gave up their jobs to pursue this dream.

This year Ana and her team are organizing the Christmas Village for the second time. This event takes place from December 20th till the 23rd at Parke Leyba in Skalo. There is great music, goodies, delicious food and best of all hopi ambiente. A part of all earnings from the events organized by Hello Skalo are invested back into the community. Last year she organized a week long seminar for the youth about entrepreneurship.
Entrance to the Christmas Village is free, however visitors are asked to bring a gift for the kids which will be distributed at the ‘Breakfast for Kids’ event. Hello Skalo’s motto is “Unite, celebrate and give back”. And the results are visible. Skalo and Fleur de Marie are booming with brand new businesses and the residents are happy about the new flow of tourists, locals and positive vibes. Jose, Ana, Dexter (their eldest son not seen in the picture), Tatiana and Jordan invite you all to visit
Hello Skalo with the entire family. There will be live performances, local goodies, great food and a great Christmas atmosphere. Christmas Village will take place at Parke Leyba in Skalo right in front of the Integra Natural shop starting on December 20th till the 23rd . The Baked-Ish
EXPERIENCE
How Baked-Ish started Baked-Ish was born out of passion for cooking and the desire for something simply different. It grew out of the love and diversity for baked potatoes. Creating something that combines the healthy and the delicious aspects of food (the “–ish") and the quality time everyone makes for their besties. After doing a lot of research, the Baked-Ish team started with a trial tasting among 15 of their most critical foodie friends on August 26th, 2017. After the positive feedback and more research, they launched their 1st official Baked-Ish on November 25th, 2017. The spontaneous experience On December 1st, 208, Baked-Ish organized another event with the best atmosphere you can wish for

in a “backyard under a roof of stars” environment. All their guests enjoyed a delightful homemade baked potato with the filling and toppings of their choice. The potatoes were paired with their famous homemade Sangria or Oregano & Lemongrass punch or with the option to keep it simple with some Lemonade. Tickle your taste buds! The event is a once a month pop-up evening where fun and friendship are the center and the bonus is how your taste buds get tickled by the delicious combination of flavors Baked-Ish serves. Keep an eye out for the next event and RSVP to join an evening's vibe with food, people and (live) music creatively created by you & your friends!
Instructions: - Preheat the oven to 200 degrees C - Wash and dry the potatoes - Pierce the potatoes 2-3 times with a fork - Rub oil over the potatoes - Rub salt all over the potatoes - Sprinkle the Italian seasoning all over the potatoes - Sprinkle the ground black pepper seasoning all over the potatoes - Place the potatoes on a baking sheet and bake for about 45 to 60 minutes (The exact baking time will depend on how large the potatoes are. The potatoes should be tender inside if you poke a fork into it) - Serve with butter, cheese, meat, chicken, sour cream and all your favorite toppings ENJOY!
