Briefs... Park Board Meeting The Trenton Park Board will meet in regular session at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3 at city hall. Items on the announced agenda include approval of the 2019-20 budget, a request from the Trenton Soccer Stars, the superintendent’s report and reports from the pool, grounds and facilities committees.
R-6 Spring Program The Pleasant View R-6 Music Department will present its spring program on Friday, April 5 in the school gymnasium. The program begins at 7 p.m. with the band and preschool performing, followed by the musical, “Pirates! The Musicall,” performed by students in grades kindergarten through eight. The public is invited to attend.

Instrumental, Vocal Music Contests
Students Do Well At Festival Trenton High School instrumental and vocal music students participated in the Northwest Missouri District Music Festival on Saturday in St. Joseph, taking part in solo and small ensemble competition. Earning an “exemplary” rating and moving on to state competition later this month were: Instrumental Music - Marti Atup, flute solo; Caleb Johnson, tuba solo; Mackenzie Klinginsmith, clarinet solo; Trager Leeper, trumpet solo; Amanda Parrack, tenor sax solo; and Nicole Rodriguez, tuba solo. Vocal Music - Karissa Brock, vocal solo; Leslie Cotiangco, vocal solo; Emma Gilham, vocal solo; and Karissa Brock, Emma Gilham and Kasie Otto, women’s trio. The Trenton High School Alumni Association will meet on Sunday, April 7 for its mass mailing preparation. The meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the high school commons. All classes are encouraged to send volunteers to assist with the project. Classes holding special reunions this year are invited to bring a one-page letter for their class, outlining special activities, to be inserted into the mailing.
First Reponders Breakfast The Trenton High School and Trenton Middle School student councils will host a first responders breakfast on Friday, April 12 in the high school health room. Breakfast will be served from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. and is open to all current, retired, on-duty and off-duty emergency personnel. ‘Egg My House’ Event The Trenton Middle School FCCLA is sponsoring an Easter event to raise funds for STAR Events teams to travel to California for the National Leadership Conference. “Egg My House” involves TMS FCCLA members leaving eggs filled with prizes and/or candy in yards for children to find on Easter morning. Options include $20 for 30 eggs, $25 for 40 eggs, $50 for 100 eggs and $75 for 150 eggs. For an additional $5, FCCLA members will include bunny prints and a personal message. Prices may vary for addresses more than five miles out of Trenton. For more information or to book a “bunny,” persons can contact TMS FCCLA Advisor Suzi Beck at sbeck@trentonr9.k12.mo.us.
Board Purchases Property The North Central Missouri College Board of Trustees purchased property during an executive session held as part of the Tuesday, March 26 monthly board meeting. According to information provided by board secretary Vicki Weaver, the board voted 6-0 to purchase property at 302 W. Crowder Road, owned by Carolyn Brown. The purchase price was $40,000.
Grundy R-5 Board Meets The Grundy R-5 Board of Education held a special meeting on Thursday, March 28, taking action on several items. According to information provided by Superintendent Rob Deaver, the board accepted the resignations of Elementary Principal Dr. Ann Billington and math instructor Les Jackson, effective at the end of the current school year. Dr. Billington has been with the district for the past four years while Jackson has been with the R-5 District for 37 years, including many years as physical education teacher and coach. The board also voted to join the Ozarks Schools Benefits Association, which will provide the district’s health insurance for the 2019-20 school year. The monthly premium per employee will be approximately $550 per month.

National Weather Service There’s a good chance of rain through the middle portion of the week with highs in the mid to upper 50s and lows in the lower 40s. The high on Thursday, March 28 was 66, Friday’s high was 49 and Saturday’s high was 41. Sunday’s high was 44 and the overnight low was 26. A total of 2.21 inches of rain fell during that time period. The high on Sunday at the Government Weather Station near Spickard was 43, the low was 25.
