Briefs... R-9 Boar R-9 Board d Meeting The Trenton R-9 Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26 at the district office. Items on the announced agenda include a cooperative agreement with the Department of Social Services - Mo Health Net, approval of year-end bills, actualization of revenues and expenditures and approval of the 2019-20 budget.

R-6 Boar R-6 Board dT To o Meet The Pleasant View R-6 Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25 in the school library. Items on the announced agenda include discussion of school improvements, CD rates, approval of milk and diesel bids, approval of the 2019-20 master schedule, a technology update, the 2019-20 budget, setting a date for the annual tax rate hearing, the telecommunications contract, an MSBA policy update and the superintendent’s report. An executive session for student matters is also planned.

Although the Chalk Walk Art event was cancelled due to the rain, the downtown Car Cruise went on as scheduled on Friday evening. Cars and trucks lined Main Street from Five Points to 12th Street, allowing the public to get a peek at the vehicles on display. The group then “cruised” to Crowder State Park, where they visited Camp Rainbow before returning downtown. At right, students at the Superstars Dance Studio danced to some 1950s and 1960s music in a performance held at the Sesquicentennial Park and enjoyed by a large crowd of parents, grandparents and members of the public.

Bloodmobile At Sunnyvie Bloodmobile Sunnyview w The Community Blood Center will bring its bloodmobile to Sunnyview Nursing Home and Apartments on Wednesday, June 26. Benefit For Camp Rainbow

Fundraiser Held Despite Weather The weekend rain didn’t bother participants in the third annual Wheels and Wine Car Show on Saturday, which drew over 65 participants to help raise money for Camp Rainbow. The Best of Show winner was a 1954 Chevy pickup, entered by Lonnie Sewell. The Best Interior belonged to a 2009 Ford Shelby Mustang owned by Duane Young. Vince Venier was the Best of Paint winner with a 1967 Plymouth Barracuda and J.J. Carr won Best of Motor with a 1969 Ford Mustang. Jess Alexander of Hillsboro was recognized for driving the farthest (four hours). Class winners included: Fully Custom - 1. Vince Vinier, 1967 Plymouth Barracuda; 2. Crowder State Park will sponsor a “spider sniff” on Saturday, July 6. The event will be held at the campground amphitheater, beginning at 8:30 p.m. Staff will present information about spiders, including the different types found in Missouri. The program will include a short hike to search for spiders in the park. Participants are encouraged to war insect repellant and closed-toe shoes and should also bring a flashlight. There was a lot of “spit and shine” going on with entries at Saturday’s Wheels and Wine Car Show, which drew over 65 vehicles. The event, held at the Black Silo Winery, was a fundraiser for Camp Rainbow.

NFAA ARCHERY, HUNTING AND OUTDOORS SKILLS

Donations continue to be collected for the community fireworks display scheduled for Thursday, July 4. The cost of the display is $4,000 and is being paid for solely by donations made by local business, organizations and individuals. Those wanting to make a donation can leave donations at cannisters at the Hy-Vee Store, Hy-Vee Wine and Spirits, Landes BP and Main Stop as well as with Diane Lowrey at the Trenton Republican-Times newspaper office. Donations can also be left at or mailed to the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce office at 611 Ninth St. Checks should include “fireworks” in the memo line.

Area 4-H Members Display Talents At Competition Grundy County hosted the NFAA  Archery and Hunting and Outdoors Skills competition for area 4-H members on Saturday. Contests were held at various locations and including archery, shooting and outdoors skills. The top finishers included: NFAA Archery Recurve With Accessories, Senior - 1. National Weather Service Mostly sunny this week, the highs in the upper 80s and lows around 70. Trenton’s high on Thursday, June 20 was 83, Friday’s high was 79 with 2.44 inches of rain. Saturday’s high was 88 with 1.32 inches of rain. Sunday’s high was 74, the low was 64 and .49 of an inch of rain was recorded, bringing the monthly total to 6.35 inches. Sunday’s high weather station near Spickard was 70, the low was 62, with .13 of an inch of rain.
